Chapter 549 - I'm afraid [1]

Squeak!

The runner-class walker emitted a sharp sound, its head covered in layers of exaggerated fur. Its figure seemed slow at first, but at unexpected moments, it moved extremely fast and ran towards Gild.

Bang! Bang!

Seeing this approaching walker, possibly a special class due to the sound, Victor quickly adjusted the gun barrel and continuously pulled the trigger, firing the few remaining bullets in the magazine.

The pistol bullets hit the walker's body, but despite this, it had nothing to do but cause a slight delay in its advance.

Upon seeing this situation, Gild stood up and made Victor retreat to a distant distance. However, as a result, the walker suddenly changed direction and headed towards Gild, who was sitting at a metal table.

"Ahhhhh!"

Gild let out a heartbreaking sound as the walker bit his neck, but Victor, who reacted a bit late, changed the gun's magazine and shot it in the head.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Thinking that Gild didn't have combat gear because he recently joined the organization, the walker's bite penetrated his skin and caused a severe wound.

"Nooo, you damn bastards!"

Victor shouted so loudly that the walkers eventually turned in his direction, but at that moment, he took out his P90 and opened fire against all the advancing undead inside.

Crack!

Just as Victor was moving backward, the walker following closely grabbed his arm with its withered hands. He could feel the nails trying to penetrate his suit but failing.

"They bit Gild!" The walker that had Victor in a difficult position suddenly stopped moving after George stabbed it in the head with a bayonet.

Crack!

George lifted his foot and kicked the walker near Victor aside, but the next moment it attempted to stand up.

However, Gild, at some point, had grabbed a weapon and didn't give it a chance. He held his shotgun and destroyed the head of that peculiar walker until it stopped moving.

Bang!

Before they had time to catch their breath, they heard the sound of a rope being pulled, not too far away, followed by the muffled sound of landing.

George looked over there and saw several figures of strange appearance suspended in the air. Victor approached Gild, who was having a panic attack, his eyes starting to turn red, indicating that the virus had infected his bloodstream.

"George, what do we do?" Victor asked as the gunfire continued.

"Give him some grenades and tell him to give us time to escape to the Humvee. Be careful!"

Seeing this situation, Victor quickly ran to provide support, aiming his gun to the side and shooting at the infected people who were closest.

But no matter how fast they ran now, their movements were still half as slow as the runner-class walkers, and one infected had already rushed forward.

But at this moment, George's steps slowly came to a halt. His eyes were fixed ahead, filled with surprise and vigilance.

Behind the door they had entered a moment ago, a slightly bloated figure appeared, wearing a gas mask and protective gear. He held a single knife and then pulled out a shotgun from behind him, aiming at the walkers behind.

Boom!

The shrapnel targeted the bodies of these undead and threw them to the ground. Then the man raised his pair of curved machetes to eliminate all the walkers.

Victor, who was sitting next to Gild, was a little stunned at the sight of the figure. He didn't know what to say as he watched numerous walkers' heads being cut off, but soon he calmed down and lay on the ground trembling vigorously.

"Well..."

The shaking of the body from a distance awakened Gild, who was lying on the ground, groaning uncomfortably. He slowly got up from the ground, covering his neck, and soon noticed the striking figure in front of him.

"Commander?"

After a brief identification, Victor recognized the identity of the other person by the familiar posture.

"Get up, let's get out of here!"

But Gild obviously didn't want to leave this place knowing he was infected.

"Guys, hurry up and get out!"

Seeing George's back leaving, George quickly approached Victor's side and forcefully pulled him away from Gild. He looked into his eyes and asked, "Can you do it, or should I help you?"

"Please help me, I'm not that brave."

"No, George, we can still do something!"

But paying no attention to Victor's words, George took out his gun and shot Gild in the head.

Then he brushed off the dust from his body, and George said, "Let's fight for the living. That's how life is, and I hope you can pull the trigger when I or someone else gets infected."

The two immediately followed the figure that was leading the way, crossed the street, and entered the laundry shop across the street.

Unlike the chaos outside, although the laundry room was still dusty, all the debris on the floor had been cleared to one side.

"Go towards the back door!"

Airon stood at the door of the laundry room, his shotgun ready at any moment. He stretched his hand to point at the door behind him.

Roar!

The moment they entered the laundry room, several undead had reached the door, pounding forcefully, trying to get in.

Boom!

Hearing the gasp of the infected person behind him, Airon paused for a moment, turned around, and fired.

Seeing the chaos at the glass door, he took two grenades from his suit, removed the pins, and threw them.

Boom! Boom!

"Quick, get in!" Daryl, who was in the driver's seat of the armored Humvee, said.

"George, man the machine gun. Victor, take care of the girl in the back."
