"What's happening?"
Víctor had been keeping an eye on Jimmy from one side with a weapon, but Airon's movements and questions had confused him, as well as the other people in the room.
But when everyone heard Airon's brief words, they all felt a chill and then looked at the square box on the small table, that black object blinked from time to time.
It was a communicator!
These people must have somehow contacted their own group.
That was the first thought that appeared in everyone's mind.
"Let's go, now."
Now everyone understood that the reason behind Jimmy's sudden talkativeness was that he wanted to delay their stay here a little longer so that the support team could arrive on time.
The few people had no enthusiasm to continue inspecting this cabin or fully understand Airon. Now, the most important thing was to hurry and get out of here.
"George, let's go now!" Airon shouted loudly, waiting for George to get in.
"Hurry up! A horde of walkers is coming."
Upon hearing this, Airon was startled. He wasn't worried about being surrounded; after all, everyone was prepared, so it wasn't difficult to get out of here. But the downside was that it would definitely affect their speed. The longer they stayed here, the more bad things would happen.
"Hurry, we must leave immediately!"
The whole group quickly arrived at the two Humvees parked not far from the wooden cabin. However, good things never come alone.
Just as they took off their masks and were ready to leave, the sound of helicopter rotors could be heard in the sky not far from their location.
That rattling sound raised everyone's nerves in the group to new levels. They had to get out of here! All they could do was run. Between the walkers and this situation, they had to get away from this place.
"Víctor, take care of Jimmy, and if he makes any move, kill him!" George got into the first Humvee, and Daryl was behind in the gunner seat.
As for the second Humvee, Gild got in the driver's seat, and Airon took the gunner position. Víctor covered Jimmy's mouth, ensuring he wouldn't make any strange moves.
Not everything was easy; the sky was completely dark. The surroundings only echoed with the sound of walkers, while the incessant sound of helicopters could be heard nearby.
George and Bild had brought back a large suitcase filled with numerous things they had obtained from the cabin's basement. If there was anything in that basement, it was now in Airon's hands.
But none of it mattered if they died out here, so they needed to return as soon as possible. Airon, in the rear seat, grabbed the radio and asked, "Zz... Vehicle one, do you copy?"
"Zz... This is vehicle one, we hear vehicle two."
Airon nodded in response, grabbed the main radio, and tried to communicate with his community, "Zz... This is Airon, identification code 348, channel 8, unprotected zone."
"Zz..."
"Zz... This is Airon, identification code 348, channel 8, unprotected zone. Respond immediately if you hear my voice!"
"Damn it!" Airon shouted, throwing the radio onto the passenger seat.
Bild had never seen the commander like this, so he knew that what they found in the basement was much more dangerous than he had thought.
"Zz... Let's switch to closed channels, I couldn't reach the base, so let's speak as little as possible to avoid interception by the enemies."
Within seconds, a response came from the front, "Closed channels, we'll use minimal frequency to avoid being heard."
A very smart idea!
The most important thing was that due to their open communication, they could be heard by anyone on their communication channel, so by reducing their communication range, they could evade enemy surveillance in the air.
"Let's get moving!"
The engines of the two Humvees roared, attracting the attention of the walkers in the bushes. The horde was coming from behind the cabin, so they couldn't reach them in a short amount of time.
Considering this, there didn't seem to be an apparent problem. But overall, the darkness was indeed bothersome for their progress. They couldn't turn on the lights as it would reveal their location, nor could they accelerate too much as it could attract a lot of walkers.
"Let's use night vision goggles. The military ones are the best. Avoid using the ones from your uniform helmets!" By the time Airon said this, one of the helicopters in the sky had reached the cabin, and a white light beamed down from the sky like a massive lighthouse in the darkness.
This light not only caught the attention of Airon and the others but also drew the attention of the group of walkers. Along with the original loud noise of the helicopter, the group of walkers that were originally moving in other directions turned around and walked toward the light.
"That's not good..." Airon muttered quietly. He crouched down and took a square box, pulling it out through the hole where the machine gun was, and soon a small drone appeared in his view.
"Zz... Daryl, what do we have ahead on the map?" Airon asked through the radio as he powered on the drone and put on smart glasses.
This drone was equipped with night vision, so seeing in the dark wouldn't be a problem. Soon, Daryl's response came: "Zz... There are two paths, one we came from and the other that takes us further away from our base."
Upon hearing Daryl's response, Airon reported, "We're fifty meters away from the intersection. I'll monitor what's ahead and make a decision."
At this moment, the noise from the helicopter at the wooden house suddenly grew louder. Airon observed from a distance and saw the beam of white light slowly rising.
Airon deployed the drone equipped with night vision to scout the intersection of the road and assess the situation. Cautiously, he directed the drone forward, and as the image unfolded on his screen, he saw with horror a large horde of walkers blocking the passage in the original direction.
Quickly, Airon communicated with Daryl and the others via the radio and ordered them to turn in a different direction. He relayed precise information about the new route they should take to avoid the horde and ensure everyone reached their destination safely.
As the convoy vehicles received the instructions, they began to turn in the new direction, thus avoiding the encounter with the horde of walkers. Airon continued to monitor from the drone, ensuring that each vehicle moved smoothly and didn't get caught in the dangerous chaos of the walkers.
Their strategy of using the night vision drone allowed them to make an informed decision and avoid a potentially deadly confrontation. Airon felt relieved to see that his plan was working and that they were one step closer to reaching a safe place. With a good vibe, he continued leading the convoy and adapting to the challenges of the post-apocalyptic world to protect his group and keep them away from walker threats.
However, before he could finish speaking, Airon suddenly ordered, "Accelerate, quickly!"
"What's happening?"
