In the interrogation room, a cold silence filled the air as the soldier escorted the individual towards their cell, growing increasingly frustrated.
"Keep your mouth shut and cooperate, understood?"
The individual, with a sinister smile, asked, "Didn't you want to know what Pandora's Box is? Oh, but there's so much you need to know. Pandora's Box... when it's opened, all of you will become the undead."
One of the soldiers tightened their grip on the individual and spoke, "Sir, we shouldn't waste time on the delusions of this lunatic. He's just trying to mess with our minds."
At that moment, the individual suddenly stopped and their expression drastically changed. A more serious and determined look took over their face. "I apologize for Erich's poor introduction. My name is Johnny. I was forced to introduce myself since you don't seem to understand. Pandora's Box is real, and one of our group is the bearer of its secret."
Sam Valdez remained silent, observing this man who had completely transformed, making him unrecognizable from just a moment ago. Taking this into account, it would be true that this individual had a disorder.
Multiple personality disorders, also known as dissociative identity disorder, are characterized by the presence of two or more distinct identities or personality states within one person. Each of these identities can have its own set of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and memories.
People with dissociative identity disorder experience episodes of transition between the different identities, often referred to as "switching." During these episodes, the person may exhibit changes in their voice, gestures, facial expressions, and overall behavior.
The alternating identities or personality states can differ significantly from one another in terms of age, gender, abilities, preferences, and attitudes. Each identity may have its own name and perceives itself as a separate and unique entity within the person.
Dissociative identity disorder is believed to be a result of severe or repeated traumas during childhood, where dissociation serves as a defense mechanism to separate and protect the person from traumatic experiences. However, dissociation can also lead to memory loss or lack of awareness of actions performed by one identity when another is in control.
Now, considering the state of this individual presenting as Johnny, Sam knew that this would be more complicated than he had initially thought. Stepping in, he asked Johnny, "What are you insinuating?"
Johnny, with a deeper and more authoritative voice, pointed out, "I am your alter ego. Pandora's Box is the creation of the first living cell endowed with a synthetic genome that alters the virus that turned everyone into walkers, freeing this world from its devastation. It is this alteration that causes the walkers to evolve."
Boom! A soldier shoved Johnny against the wall and shouted in a stern tone, "This is absurd. You're just making up stories to seek attention."
Johnny, staring intensely at Sam, pointed out, "Believe me or not, but when the truth is revealed, it will be too late."
Approaching Johnny with intensity, Sam warned him, "We need concrete answers and evidence. If you truly know something, you must say it now or face the consequences."
Johnny, maliciously smiling, said, "The answers... you'll only find them in Pandora's Box. And when you open it, you'll see the truth with your own eyes."
Crack!
Sam grabbed Johnny and forcefully broke three fingers on his right hand. "Those are three fingers from your right hand. Speak now, or you'll regret it!"
"Ahhhhh!"
"Hahaha, he's desperate, Commander. You don't understand. I'm just a piece of a larger puzzle. Pandora's Box has been unleashed, and there's no turning back."
"If this is just a game, Johnny, you'll pay the consequences." Sam looked at one of the soldiers, who nodded.
The soldiers escorted Johnny to his cell and left him under strict surveillance. Commander Valdez and the other team members discussed the strange revelation and decided to take measures to investigate the truth behind Johnny's claims and any potential threat he might pose.
...
Alternate research room.
Sam stood before a scientist, showing him the footage of the interrogation, and asked, "I need concrete answers, Dr. Adams. Is it possible that what Johnny said about Pandora's Box and the evolution of the walkers is true?"
Dr. Adams stroked his beard and said, "Commander Valdez, what Johnny mentioned about Pandora's Box and the evolution of the walkers is highly improbable. There is no scientific evidence to support such a claim."
"Are you sure, Doctor? We need to understand what's happening here." Sam had his doubts.
"I understand your concern, Commander, but so far, our studies and analysis have not revealed any evidence of a Pandora's Box or a synthetic genome capable of altering the Wildfire virus in that way."
"So, are you saying that Johnny is making up these stories?"
"It's possible, Commander. The human mind can be prone to creating theories and delusions in extreme situations like these. We cannot dismiss the possibility that Johnny may be suffering from a psychological disorder or simply seeking attention."
"I understand. However, we cannot afford to completely ignore his words. Make sure Johnny is evaluated by our mental health professionals, and continue investigating any information related to Pandora's Box or genetic alterations in the walkers."
"Of course, Commander. We will do our best to examine Johnny and gather any relevant data. But I urge you to maintain an evidence-based approach and not be swayed by unfounded speculations."
"Understood, Doctor. I trust your judgment and your ability to lead this investigation. We must keep seeking answers and ensure the safety of our community from any threats, whether physical or psychological." Sam said with a sense of alertness.
"We will do so, Commander. I will work closely with the team to remain vigilant and ensure the security of all survivors."
Sam and Dr. Adams continued to discuss and plan the next steps to address the situation. Meanwhile, the fate of Johnny and the veracity of his claims are still to be determined.
