"Is Georgia State secure?"
As Cesar looked around, a large group of buildings appeared. The road leading to this place was very clean, with many checkpoints and huge farms openly visible.
But at this moment, they were not on their way to Atlanta, but heading directly to the central base. In no time, several circular buildings still under construction came into view even from afar, and these buildings were not occupying a small space.
Moreover, in the center of the four buildings, an enormous straight building emerged, incredibly large, and still under construction.
"What is that?"
Cesar couldn't help but exclaim, and the soldiers beside him seemed excited. They had finally returned after being away for so long.
"This is our central base and future new city, the most modern one with all kinds of systems to prevent any kind of infection or disease from plaguing us again."
A charismatic soldier responded to Cesar's question.
The convoy slowly approached the buildings, and Cesar noticed more details that caught his attention.
In addition to the solar panels, there were a number of wind generation devices around the walls, numerous perfectly optimized panels, and farmland on the outside. What made it even more incredible was that there were many strange "devices" in the open space beside the building complex.
"Are they experimenting with walkers?" Cesar pointed there with an incredulous expression and asked. The soldier who had just answered him also looked towards that place and then smiled proudly.
"Yes, that's the walker-powered generator, but it's gradually being dismantled. After fixing the electricity issues, there will be bigger changes. These walkers are still quite troublesome."
As he spoke, the convoy moved forward, getting closer to that not entirely optimal experiment, and Cesar saw a walker walking without stopping, but due to its decaying body, its waist suddenly snapped in half, and the internal organs scattered instantly in the area.
Soon, several people arrived and skillfully took the walker after killing it. After taking the walker, they brought in a newer one and positioned it in the same way to continue generating energy.
Before Cesar could speak this time, the soldier took the initiative to explain with great excitement, "The corpses go into the biogas tank, where we only use walkers in very poor or broken condition, as you just saw. We found that when the walkers completely die, their decomposition speed accelerates, so that the decomposed biogas can be used by the people in the base for daily use."
The same impressive scene not only happened to Cesar but to all the people who came here for the first time. Although now survivors are usually sent to other cities if their value cannot contribute to the base, there are still some infiltrators within the S.C.T. territory.
And there is never a shortage of people presenting these things as if they were treasures in a museum, and bursts of exclamations would come from the vehicles as if it were a sightseeing tour.
Adam, Emilia, and the others were impressed, coming from Alabama where they had a normal life within such a large territory. When Adam saw a new world for his daughter, he would definitely join the police force to keep this place safe from any disturbance to the order.
The convoy slowly approached the fortress, and two armored vehicles quickly approached and blocked the front of the convoy. After a brief stay, they moved forward again and soon arrived at the main gate. The vast expanses of surrounding farmland provided great psychological comfort to these survivors.
After an inspection, around five hundred people who were technicians, doctors, plumbers, electricians, and experienced construction workers formed two long lines, and Adam stood in the middle of the rows of survivors.
"What is this for?"
Emilia looked ahead with curiosity. Several small houses could be seen in that place, and some masked soldiers brought some things in suitcases and then left.
"That's the security check. They will examine their bodies for bite marks or other dangerous objects that could harm the stability of the central base."
Emilia looked around with boredom, and suddenly she saw a large wooden shed a few hundred meters away from them. The things in the wooden shed almost made her scream, and she raised her trembling finger.
"Adam, look!"
Livestock, especially horses, cows, and chickens, were present, and there were also ducks and geese freely walking around the central area.
"There is so much livestock here! Does that mean there is fresh meat in the meals here?"
The soldiers beside them looked at the young woman without surprise and explained with some amusement, "This is just a portion of the livestock for this month. Although meat is not usually eaten, especially beef, we can have something two to three times a week."
"Oh, my God, does this place really exist?"
After a long hour, Adam's group finally entered the inner area, and a group of soldiers led them to a building.
As soon as Emilia entered through the door, she felt a cold sensation run through her body. She opened her eyes again in surprise and looked around incredulously. Then she saw the other survivors who were equally astonished.
"Is this air conditioning?"
The soldier also seemed to be working as a tour guide, pointing to the air vents on the ceiling.
"This place has been operational for several months. Now we not only have air conditioners but also refrigerators, water heaters, and even entertainment facilities like televisions. In theory, all electricity needs can be met when sufficient power supply is ensured for the special laboratory."
"God, do you mean there is still hot water here? Does that mean they can take a shower?"
"Of course, there is a special bathing room that opens twice a day in summer and once a day in winter."
After all, Emilia is just a young woman who had gone through a lot, and all she cares about are the benefits she can obtain, while Adam, standing aside, is intrigued by the strange armaments in different points of the central base.
"Sir..."
"You can call me Jesus."
"Jesus?"
Several people looked at the long-haired and handsome boy in front of them with strange expressions, and he raised his hands helplessly.
"You can also call me Paul, but everyone here calls me Jesus."
The expressions of several people showed mutual understanding, it was evident why they called him Jesus. Some of the women wondered if Jesus had a partner, but that question wasn't openly voiced.
"Alright, Jesus, I just heard you mention a laboratory. Can I ask what it's for?"
Jesus smiled mysteriously and didn't explain anything, but he pointed in the direction they were heading.
"The answer is up ahead. If I reveal it in advance, the surprises may be lost, don't you think?"
Seeing Jesus's mysterious expression and his unwillingness to say anything, Emilia rolled her eyes.
"Wait, do you think that's interesting? By the way, are you in a romantic relationship?"
Adam was even more curious and couldn't help but quicken his pace and enter.
"Adam, wait for me, don't leave me alone."
This group of two hundred people was led to a large hall. In this place, there was a high platform, and with only two hundred people, it was enough to fill the front row.
At that moment, there were over a dozen people standing on the stage, five of them wearing white lab coats, surrounded by more than 20 soldiers guarding the surroundings.
Adam led some people to take seats in the front row, silently waiting for what would happen next.
The crowd was a bit chaotic, but after Airon, dressed in special combat gear, stepped up to the center, everyone quieted down.
"Some of you may know me, but for those who don't, let me introduce myself... My name is Airon, and I am the leader of the S.C.T. organization that prevails from Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, with plans to take Florida and North Carolina by the end of this year."
"Unfortunately, you haven't joined us in times of peace, as there is an organization dedicated to eliminating forces like ours with the aim of dominating the country. But fear not, we are not weaker than them, and now it is time for you to be vaccinated."
Wow!
Airon's words seemed to drop a tank of different emotions. Some were afraid of being attacked by another organization in this seemingly perfect place, but many thought that fighting for this side was the best thing they could do.
