Boom!
When the clock struck 6:30, a thunderous explosion sounded from the rear of the Fireflies' base. Despite orders to stand down, Airon's group would not trust something like that, so they stormed in with a deafening sound.
Although it is impossible to see the moment of the explosion from here, one can feel the destructive power of the explosion at this moment from the smoke rising and the thick smoke slowly coming out of the broken wall.
This kind of movement naturally alarmed all the Fireflies, and there were screams of fear.
And in no time, an elite group ventured in and soon began to see people lying on the ground with terror on their faces. For all those who surrendered, their hands were simply restrained behind their backs so that no one could do anything foolish.
Not far from where the group had entered, the two Fireflies guarding the area naturally dropped their weapons and walked together to the edge of the fence, then after a few seconds they saw a fully armed group advancing forward.
Airon, who was in the office where the leader of the Fireflies was, looked out the window but unfortunately could not see anything at all.
"It looks like it's starting!"
Although much of the Fireflies' base was occupied by thick smoke, the piercing sound of breaking ground and the sound of gunfire made Merlene pale with fear. A sinister premonition sprouted from her heart and she screamed in panic.
Bang Bang Bang!
"What does this mean, Airon?"
But the continuous explosions continued to be heard in different parts of the base. Only the sounds of defending the place, followed by a burst of violent fighting and gunfire, as well as several shots, could be heard. There were screams and the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground.
This sense of helplessness in the darkness made Merlene feel a burst of fear, so she walked towards Airon, looked him in the eyes, and demanded answers.
Airon, who had Merlene's weapon due to her peaceful surrender, pointed it at her and Joel and Tommy did the same with the other people.
"It seems you're mistaken..." Said Airon in a cold tone. "If my people are shooting right now or you hear gunfire from other places, it's because your people are shooting at us. Do you not think it's convincing that we also shoot back?"
Joel had no attachment to any of these people, after all, he didn't know them. So he was on Airon's side, who had helped him recover Ellie and put her in a safe place. Tommy, on the other hand, really didn't know much about what was going on, but since there were no other options to take, he decided to stand with his brother.
The sound of helicopters could be heard above the Fireflies' base, waiting for the right moment to act if necessary.
"I really want to change all of this, but sometimes many people don't understand what I'm really looking for... Since the beginning of the end of the world, I've been searching for a cure, but the situation has always been difficult and insurmountable..."
Airon looked at everyone in the room, lowered his weapon, and his tone softened a bit: "Everyone can help me, I don't want you to be my enemies, but if you show me otherwise, I don't want you by my side."
Joel, on the side, said, "Merlene, your people helped me and I understand a little about your situation, but I think Airon's vision for the future is much better than yours..."
"What happened to Ellie?" Tommy asked as he looked at his brother.
"She's okay, the people in Airon are taking care of her along with some trusted individuals," he replied.
Airon walked towards the door, looked at everyone in the room, and said, "You can come and see what's happening outside, I'm also curious."
As they advanced, Joel and Tommy caught up behind the group while closely watching Merlene's movements and the rest of the Fireflies, as well as looking at Airon with a trustworthy aura at the front of the group.
No one really understood Airon's behavior. What did he really expect to gain by acting in such an aggressive way? Everyone knew their positions, and the strong always eliminated the weak. That's how it has always happened.
Boom!
But just ahead, an explosion sounded. Airon took cover while holding his gun and waiting. But in the compartment filled with thick smoke, he couldn't clearly see the situation.
"Keep all the invaders out, don't let those damn idiots live!"
When everyone heard those words, they turned their heads towards Merlene, who couldn't believe her words had been violated. Airon was right, the Fireflies were the ones showing resistance.
By the time Airon turned around, several bodies had fallen to the ground, the one who was now shouting loudly also fell to the ground, and a sound grenade entered the hallway, leaving all the Fireflies stunned.
"Protect this hallway, I'll go after their leader!"
Seeing this situation, Airon and the rest immediately understood what was happening. Some of the Fireflies must have scared many people's minds, which pushed them not to be afraid to face Airon's people.
Looking at the Fireflies entering the hallway, Airon didn't pay attention to them at all. He raised his gun and fired continuously at the first two Fireflies who arrived, consuming all the bullets.
The two Fireflies immediately had several bullet holes in their bodies and fell to the ground bleeding profusely.
Seeing this, the remaining two Fireflies took out their long-range flash bombs and threw them towards Airon.
But while the flash bomb was still flying in the air, Airon grabbed a piece of cloth that was placed on the armrest next to him and threw it in front of him, then turned to the side and kicked his extended foot in the direction of the cloth.
He hooked the cloth with his foot and then kicked the flash grenade forward.
At the moment of the violent collision, the flash bomb exploded, but the cloth blocked most of the damage, flew under the kick, and hit the face of the nearest Firefly.
"Ah!"
The Firefly didn't expect this to happen. Originally, he wanted to wait for the opponent's attack before preparing his knife.
But at that moment, he was caught off guard and was hit in the head and face, with dust entering his eyes, mouth, and nose. The intense pain and indescribable suffocation made the Firefly cover his face and let out a dry roar.
When the remaining two enemies were hit, Airon had already advanced and kicked the Firefly who had been crushed in the face with the lime to finish him off.
Then he grabbed the other person's hair with his hands and pushed forward with force, his head hitting the wall hard, his body writhing and becoming limp.
"Don't kill them!" But at that moment, a scream was heard behind him.
