Chapter 346 - Pursuit

Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang!

"Zz... George, we need reinforcements. W-2 class walkers, they took us by surprise and the place is not suitable to engage them."

After the report, Airon held up his modified p90 and continued shooting at the walkers from behind. He was worried, but that wasn't because of his safety or anything related, he was too worried that someone else would get hurt or worse, infected.

Many of the people in this place would be dead if it wasn't for his intervention, and now death could come for them if he wasn't careful. Worst of all, he knew, he knew he couldn't bring Amy and those women who couldn't even kill a walker without trembling.

But if he had to blame anyone now, it would be him. He had made the decision to come to Carolina, and now they were all in this place because of him.

After being the last one down the stairs, Airon could hear Rick's voice and then more gunfire.

Bang Bang Bang!

Looking back, Airon knew that the stairs below were full of walkers. That was obvious, they took the unexplored path so they encountered numerous walkers along the way.

"Holy shit, where are these walkers coming from?"

"They got their suits, they can't die from a bite!"

But there was no time to continue with these matters. After that, Rick fired a burst of gunfire and killing a large number of walkers in the stairway corridor, and as they changed course, the whole group began to go up instead of down.

They all had time as Airon had been holding off the walkers at the entrance where he had come out, and when he saw Rick return he knew there were more walkers.

Without hesitation, he roared up the stairs!

"Don't stop!"

After holding on as long as he could, Airon took the lead as he reloaded his weapon, pushing off some walkers that hadn't been taken out with his body. After all, his suit covered him from any kind of bite.

A dozen people behind him were desperately following him. The moment their lives were at stake, they all burst with an incredible desire to survive, and could take two or three steps with each step. When they reached the second floor, the group of walkers who had been held back by the sealed door Airon left behind ran out and broke through the door.

The dense crowd of walkers piled one on top of the other and ran up the stairs. Their speed was extremely fast, but the same speed caused them to stumble every three steps they took. And that problem was reflected as they climbed the stairs.

Occasionally, some walkers stumbled on the steps and were immediately engulfed by the walkers behind them. It wasn't long before they were trampled into meat paste, while the other walkers continued to chase them up the stairs persistently.

And after all the walkers in the dining hall had left, there was a corpse lying silently in the remote corner of a dark room. At this point, its body had been completely devoured. However, there would still be the occasional mouth as he tried to get up.

But it was impossible for him to stand up as he had lost all his muscles, but when he slowly shook his head, he could see a necklace still hanging from his neck, and the pendant with half a heart was very striking very similar to that of the girl they had found.

...

"Hurry up!"

"Come on everyone!"

"Hoo hoo hoo hoo!"

"No, I'm exhausted."

Bang Bang Bang!

Airon, who was originally running in front, moved to the back at this point, with the two girls who were about to die if they didn't keep running.

Running down stairs and over ten stories at once is not something just anyone can do. Most people are out of breath after running four or five floors, so when everyone ran to the top floor, almost everyone opened their mouths and propped up their knees, heavily articulating their body.

Airon was also a little out of breath, but his condition was still the best of all. Glenn opened the rooftop door and they all stepped inside.

Auge!

The roof door is a metal door and they are lucky that there is also a handle sticking out on the outside of the roof.

"Split up and find some stuff to seal the door with!"

"Zz... George, we're on the roof of the second building, keep the RV ready to leave this damn place."

People were panting heavily and rummaging around, but the roof was extremely clean.

At this moment, Rick suddenly had an idea, and quickly took off his belt around his waist, tied the door securely, then tore a strip of cloth from his clothes and tied his pants tightly.

After that he stared at the door and said with some uncertainty. "This should hold, right?"

Glenn, off to the side, looked at the strip of cloth around his waist; "Don't worry, your pants won't fall down."

The rest of the crowd looked at him speechless, and Abraham even burst out laughing.

Ignoring everyone's reactions, Airon quickly walked on the roof and surveyed the surroundings of the building. The 20-story building is over 80 meters tall. Looking down, everything becomes very small. If you're not stupid, you know that falling from here will definitely lead to death.

There is a neighboring building on either side of the building, but the building on one side is only about forty or fifty meters high, which obviously doesn't help their situation.

On the other side is a building of about the same height, and there is a distance more than seven meters wide between the two buildings.

After everyone in the group calmed down, they realized that they were facing a desperate situation. If they couldn't find a way off the rooftop, they could only face those speedy walkers.

But judging by the size of the walkers chasing them, there were easily two hundred walkers or more.

Let's not talk about whether their ammunition is enough to mop up all these walkers. Even if they use cold weapons to kill them, they only have six experienced men in the group. They can kill more than 50 walkers without any problem, but the rest could not and their death was certain if they decided to face the walkers. So they must find a way out before they run out of time.

"Do you have all the undead masks?"

Rick's first thought was to quietly leave this place, after all, they didn't gain anything valuable in this place, so he wasn't reconciled to leaving like this.

"The walker masks won't work on those kinds of walkers, they are much more aggressive and most likely they will end up discovering our identity."

"Will that really happen?"

Airon looked at Rick and nodded, he had heard reports of casualties in some places and nodded.

"That... We forgot the masks in the RV because we thought we wouldn't wear them since we've been wearing masks since we entered this building."

Sighing, Rick really can't say anything about this sort of thing, I just look at Amy and Andrea reminding them that it wasn't supposed to happen in the future, if they have a future after this.

Rick walked to the edge of the roof, looked at the height below and couldn't help but feel a little dizzy, it's awfully high!

Daryl also leaned closer, looked at the opposite building, then looked into the eyes of Airon who had removed his suit mask and couldn't help but say, "Do you think we can jump to the other building? The distance is seven meters..."

"Do you think the same? I think it's doable and I'll be able to do it."

"This is suicide! Now is not the time to be a hero."

The rest of the people were drawn into their discussion, and Carol, who had been paying attention to the three of them, had obviously overheard their conversation and began to persuade them as well.

"Airon, there's no need to make such desperate decisions. If you're not sure, let's open the door and fight."

The first jump is the important one, as long as one person gets to the other side, he will manage to place a rope for the others to pass through without any problem. Abraham carried that rope, T-dog had a huge ax and Glenn was the one carrying the first aid backpack.

This equipment was what everyone went out with without exception.

And when Airon heard Carol's words, he denied her words, and continued pointing towards the neighboring building.

"Let's not talk about whether we have enough ammunition. Even if we have enough, you know many will die. If something unexpected happens next, it will be hard to handle the situation later."

Airon pointed to the rooftop of the other building a little lower than the building they were on. This building was to their left, right where they were.

"I just did the calculations. The distance between the buildings is about seven meters. It's a little far, you're right about that. But because of the height difference, it's not hard for me to jump."

"Are you crazy, you'll die if you fall!"

Amy couldn't believe it. She regretted her actions at this moment. It was her carelessness that led to everyone's current situation.

"Everyone is trapped because of me, so I should be the one trying to jump."

Daryl looked at this stupid girl and shouted, "If we are now thinking of jumping it's because of your stupid decision to come when you're a fucking nuisance, we can kill the walkers right here but you and your stupid sister will surely die."

Airon, though he agreed, shook his head and indicated to Daryl that this was not the time to argue. "My responsibility is to keep the group safe, so you have no obligation to discuss anything."

"But..."

Before Amy could say anything, she signaled Abraham to hand her the ropes to get ready.

"Isn't anyone considering these ropes?"

Although Rick still felt it was too risky to do so, he had no choice but to go along with it because he couldn't think of another idea that could safely hold the group.

After tying one end of the rope to a metal pipe on the roof, smoothing out the rest of the rope, Airon slowly backed up more than 20 meters.

"Abraham, you better be ready in case that rotten metal pipe doesn't hold my weight."

"Haha, don't worry my brother!"

Taking a deep breath, he began to run. The distance of over 20 meters was enough for Airon to increase his speed to the extreme. Just as he ran towards the edge of the roof, his right foot stepped on the bump on the edge of the roof, and the muscles in his legs contracted violently.

Airon, to everyone's eyes, soared skyward with an enormous momentum, and his body elongated landing heavily on the other side of the building.

Everyone looked at him with trepidation, but saw that Airon had landed on the edge of the other roof without any risk. After landing, he rolled several times in a row to lose the forward momentum of his charge, then stood up.

"Shit!"
