Chapter 335 - Cleaning

Alabama, Birmingham City.

At this time, the low-flying helicopters were tasked with taking the walkers on a pre-established route to have control over them in the future.

Patience is the fruit of victory in this kind of operation, so while the helicopters moved through the streets drawing the attention of the walkers, special soldiers were about to eliminate them from the top down inside the buildings.

Inside a C5, the soldiers were ready for the elimination operation where it would consist of deploying soldiers by parachute where the objective was to land on top of urban buildings.

"Anyone who doesn't land on the target I'll take care of kicking his stupid ass myself! Do you hear me?"

"Yes, sir!"

"Today we not only fight to take back Birmingham from the hand of the undead, but also today begins the rise of humanity!"

"Glory to mankind!"

"Glory to mankind!!!"

"Begin!"

With the order and all that was due next, hundreds of soldiers launched themselves from the C5s flying in the sky and all the soldiers steadied their fall.

There was a base nearby that would serve as a foothold for them to land the rest of the soldiers, so right now the C5 planes were heading in that direction.

...

Ian Dietrich, a famous captain for having participated in numerous operations alongside Commander Airon, everyone had high expectations of his leadership and right now he was also participating in this rapid operation to recapture this strategic city.

"Zz... Approaching our objective, if you are unsure of achieving it you may desist and await further instructions from below."

Boom!

Ian Dietrich landed hard on top of a building, as soon as he landed he stabilized his body and quickly removed his parachute over his men.

"What's your status!"

"We're all fine!"

A total of twelve soldiers landed on the same building as Ian, so after recovering they all saids that their equipment was in order and advanced towards the upper door.

The white door leading down the building was ajar, so Ian after signaling led the squad's advance to clear floor by floor and seal the building for the cleaning crew to do the rest of the work.

Auge!

Upon knocking on the door, all the soldiers advanced following Captain Ian. The flashlights on their weapons were turned on and automatic gunfire was ready to take out any walkers in the way.

"Corpse at five meters, get ready!"

The surroundings were very dark, there was an agonizing smell of decay, so everyone knew that there were corpses in large numbers or undead.

As soon as Ian advanced forward, turning to the right, a figure rushed out of the darkness and lunged at his body. But Ian's reaction was much quicker, his strong arms grabbed the walker's neck and pulled it away from his body.

When the alert soldiers saw Ian's reaction, the one right behind him raised his gun and fired. The sound of the shot was minor as it was silenced, so after eliminating the walker he fell to the ground and rolled down.

But from ahead several figures were reflected by the light of the lanterns and when the walker that had been eliminated reached his side, the soldiers did not wait for them to approach, so after seeing enemies Ian ducked to the ground and fired.

Bang Bang Bang!

Seeing that the walkers were eliminated, two soldiers stepped forward towards the nearest room.

"Cover me!"

One of the soldiers advanced towards the first door that was right in front below the rooftop, but when he got closer to hear the sound, there were some growls characteristic of walkers.

"Something seems out of the ordinary, we need to be alert and not be surprised by any kind of walker." Ian stepped forward, his gray suit was strong enough and covered his entire body.

After the second version of the Arm-3J combat suit, all the soldiers were wearing one of those important suits that secured all the soldiers.

Auge!

As the door burst open, the flashlight illuminated the inside of the room and it was then that the soldier stepped back to get a better view of the figures in front of him.

Bang Bang Bang Bang! Bang Bang Bang Bang!

With two bursts of gunfire, the walkers inside were eliminated without any problem. But if they all advanced at this speed, they would not finish even after dark so the others continued to advance.

Ian, who was walking ahead, couldn't help but stop when he heard some kind of strange sound. A kind of ticking sound that came from a living creature, but it was crackling and everyone knew it wasn't a simple walker or animal.

"Stop!"

Ian held up his hand to stop the group, and then they all strode down the hallway as they nervously sensed their surroundings

The group suddenly stopped at a door right where that sound was coming from. As they slowly opened the door, from the floor they could see some kind of roots spreading across the floor of the building.

Roots?

They didn't look like simple tree roots, but there was no explanation about this. However, everyone cared to know what was inside that room.

.

When the door slowly opened, that sound became more abrupt as if reacting to the sound. So after keeping silent, Ian raised his gun and pointed it toward the inside of the room.

The door was not open all the way, but Ian could see a figure with a mushroom-shaped head. That figure was not reacting with the light shining on its face, but Ian who was watching it silently knew that it was in big trouble.

"Stand back!"

But as his tiny voice woke up the figure in the distance, it roared so loudly that it was heard throughout the building and ran at high speed towards Ian.

Knowing that it was infected with an unknown variant, Ian backed away with great speed.

Burst!

Accompanied by a loud bang, the door of this room was destroyed as if it was made of paper a figure hit Ian sending him flying.

"Huh?"

"Fire!"

When the squad saw Ian go flying from the blow of that figure that came out of the room, they all aimed for his head and fired repeatedly.

.the shots were numerous, some hit the enemy's body doing a lot of damage.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

But what was surprising was that the shots to his head were not enough to eliminate him, so many believed that the thing covering his head could withstand many shots.

When Ian stood up, that figure that attacked him had already been eliminated. His body armor covered the impact, but it was still too strong a blow that took him down easily.

"Sir, are you all right?"

One of the soldiers walked over to check Ian's condition, but he only nodded and after approaching that thing that attacked him, he said, "These variants are like the ones the commander encountered in the tunnel, but we couldn't find those variants after searching for a long time because the tunnel had been knocked down."

Illuminating the face of that walker, it could be seen that it was completely different from any type of creature they had encountered since the beginning. "How could there be so many variants?"

Ian knew he had to connect with the others and immediately picked up the radio, "Zz.... This is Captain Ian with class three authority, we are encountering unidentified infected."

"Zz... I repeat, Birmingham has a new variant of infected!"

"Zz... Understood Captain Ian, we will contact all our people in Birmingham."

Ian shook his head and said, "We have to be careful, don't remove your face masks before someone from the CDC staff comes and examines the environment."

"Good!".

As everyone agreed, the other soldiers moved around. One in particular walked around nonchalantly and said, "Don't you think we're invincible? I mean, we're fine after taking out walkers that are much stronger than the others."

"They're faster, stronger and more aggressive than any other infected we've encountered." One of the soldiers sneered and kicked one of the roots into the ground, "This crap sure is going to be hard to clean up."

"Now everything sucks..."

But the moment the soldier touched the root on the floor, there was a series of roars from the inner floors that were heard by the entire group in the building.

"Did you?"

He simply tilted his head slightly to listen to the sound, but as he felt the vibration of the floor he slowly backed away from the door. But it was too late, in no time the door exploded and out came numerous infected like the ones from a few breaths ago who in a few breaths walked over the bodies of those two soldiers."

By that time Ian had seen it, so they all fired continuously. That avalanche of infected was too unplanned, so everyone did nothing but shoot repeatedly.

However, the infected were numerous so everyone backed off. Ian, who was at the front of the group, threw two incendiary grenades to the side so that the infected that continued to advance would burn to death.

"Everyone fall back."

Bang Bang Bang Bang! Bang Bang Bang!"

Seeing that the situation was not favorable, Ian did his best to retreat. These infected were different. No matter where you shot them, they would eventually die and this indicated to them that they were organisms that were alive.

"Don't concentrate on shooting them in the head, shoot them over their feet."

After receiving the order, the soldiers pulled the trigger of their guns and fired continuously under the intense advance of those strange infected.

"Boom!"

But suddenly, bullets also emerged from among those infected indicating that at least some of the soldiers trapped among the walkers were still alive.

However, Ian and the others had to retreat back to maintain their safety.

Bang Bang Bang!

Throughout this confrontation, Ian was focused on eliminating all those infected and when there seemed to be no more in the vicinity, the group who had expended at least half of their ammunition, moved in to check on the condition of the fallen soldiers.

"Chief, looks like they didn't make it!"

Although the combat suits were strong, the wounds were especially on their arms. However, this was not just the situation going on in the buildings.
