Chapter 296 - Reality

"Ahhhh!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

With the joint intervention of several organized groups, the intruders in Alexandria finally became fewer and fewer and the remaining wolves showed signs of wanting to retreat, there were over fifty corpses and with Liam's continuous and furious attacks, only a few of the enemies escaped.

Many of the guards standing in the square stood in silence, they looked around the ground as the blood of several men with faces full of blood stained the pavement and felt a shudder. The people lying next to them on the ground were originally people who had followed Pete's arguments, now of all of them there were only a few four people left, and the rest died in the wolf attacks.

On the other hand, the people who were trained by Airon and his people were able to defend themselves even if they received serious injuries, at least they did not die at the hands of the wolves. Of course there were casualties, many of the outside guards were killed by enemy Molotov cocktails, creating a sense of extreme helplessness.

With further investigation of the shelter, the group led by Liam soon realized that the wolves did not overrun the houses due to the quick response of the guards, and that generated that not much happened.

...

Pete's house.

Jessie in the corner was silent for a while, then standing up she looked at Maggie and said, "We have always agreed with the decisions their leader had made, we opposed it because of Pete, now that he is dead, will they accept us without any problems?"

After this incident, not to mention whether Pete is dead or not, even if no one had died, Jesse was aware that she could no longer maintain the cold relationship with her husband.

"Of course, we never meant to force them into anything, we were simply trying to show them what the world is like outside this shelter..."

At this point, there was a woman with glasses named Olivia. Her job mainly drifts from managing supplies to firearms. Since the people from Airon came to this shelter, managing the firearms was no longer a big deal. It was for this reason that Olivia was not found, as she took it upon herself to close the door when she heard the chaos outside.

But when she heard sounds outside, she soon discovered Maggie's group and followed them silently to keep her safety safe.

She is an opinionated person, seeing that she was the only one left without voicing her opinion, she quickly followed up with Jessie's words.

"I feel similarly too, it's not that we feel bad about the way you do things, it's just that really Pete's words persuaded me, saying that we shouldn't trust you like Deanna did..."

"Blaming a dead man, what a cruel and clever woman..." Madison thought as she walked down the stairs.

At that moment, Negan came out of the house with the blood-soaked baseball bat on his shoulders. He just checked on his wife's condition and was happy to know that she was okay, however, after leaving the house, the original smile on his face disappeared, replaced by a serious expression.

Seeing that there were people gathered outside, he approached and said, "No news of Airon and the others? It's midnight now, we were able to survive but that wouldn't assure us that no more of those idiots would return."

Unable to answer that question, Maggie waved her hands, looking at the fire in the surroundings.

"Let's put the fire out first. Even if the fire mostly doesn't reach the houses, it's a big problem if we get exposed to outside groups of people. Let alone people, walkers will be a problem."

"Okay, let's go get some water!"

There was a cistern in the middle of the Alexandria community, and a dozen people didn't hesitate to grab the tools and start putting out the fire.

...

By this time, unnoticed by anyone it was past two o'clock in the morning, and the fire in Alexandria was still burning, after another hour of work, they managed to at least put out the fire on the walls.

Looking at the rest of the houses that had turned into fireballs, Liam sat on the ground extremely angry.

"All we can do is control the fire so it doesn't spread to other houses..."

At that moment the sound of an engine was heard outside the community, they all looked back and saw the community gate slowly opening, they felt much more relaxed, the leader had finally returned.

Trotting all the way to meet him, Liam spoke first.

"Boss, you're here..."

"I know what happened, we ran into some wolves on the way back, you did well."

Liam's face changed slightly upon hearing this, and he asked with a little more interest.

"Did you kill them, you didn't let them get away?"

After getting an affirmative answer, Liam was relieved. If these sick people were not eliminated, they could reappear at any time. According to the news he heard, these wolves were the only ones left.

"What's going on here, are there victims?"

"Many people died, those who did not receive training died the fastest. Of those who opposed us, only Jesse and his two children along with Olivia survived."

Liam feels a little bad about it, although some of these people are not good for their organization, most of them are not bad, they just can't adapt to this world.

"We should round up the corpses and make sure they have head wounds, I don't want walkers to deal with tonight."

"Well, I understand, shall we go back to the central base now? We have nothing but enemy after enemy. Rarely does anyone want to stay here."

Before Airon could respond, he heard Ezekiel's voice behind him say, "Airon, what was that about, have you been attacked by those guys too?"

King Ezekiel did not understand the current situation at all. Seeing the flames, the blood on the ground and the heavily armed people in the surroundings, he thought that the Saviors had attacked them.

With lingering fears in his heart, he approached for clarification. By this time, the people on the bus in the back had already gotten off one after another.

Members of the group were guarding the bus door in pairs and were sorting through the crowd. The hundred strangers on the last two buses rescued them at the Saviors' base before they had time to say anything.

So, because they had no understanding of each other, there was a big job to be done.

And the trucks in front of them were all familiar. After they got off the trucks, they all planned to help put out the fire, but Airon stopped them. He motioned for everyone to wait in the square and left some of the leaders behind.

As the dozen or so members of Negan's team exited the truck, they saw their leader standing not far away with a baseball bat in his hand. The last trace of tension in his face disappeared, and all of these people stood behind Negan.

Seeing that they had all arrived, Airon looked around, but found that Gregory was nowhere in sight, so he looked at Jesus next to him, who also had an angry expression on his face, as if he was very upset.

"Where's Gregory?"

"That bastard doesn't belong to Hilltop anymore, he betrayed us, he even ratted out the kingdom."

"What!" Ezekiel shouted angrily.

But before an unbearable uproar could be generated, Airon intervened, "Stop!"

A sharp shout made them freeze in place.

"I planned to tell you about this tomorrow morning, but seeing as the smoke from the fire may leave traces of our whereabouts to our enemies, I must do so now."

"My name is Airon, I am the leader of a strong organization that right now protects Atlanta, Georgia and extends into the surrounding area. There are thousands of people we protect, your strength and help will serve us well as we continue to move forward as a civilization."

"If you decide to follow us, we can become stronger and what I promise you is food, safety and many other things that I can assure you that you thought were lost. But that is a decision you will make, you can think about it for a while and give me your answer when you are ready."
