Chapter 225 - Our Humanity

"I'm sorry about my mom, she got pretty upset that I worried her too much, since my dad died she has tried her best to take care of us, it wasn't easy to move on." Alicia said as she walked beside Airon.

"You never get over such a painful and significant death, we survived with her and that's something I just learned just now." Airon sighed bitterly, he was sure that if he was a little more careful and hadn't had Alicia's help, he would possibly be dead right now.

During this time, Airon had enough to think about everything he has been through and done. He never considered himself a bad leader, it is true that he superimposes profits and risks the safety of his followers but that is something where the profits will benefit the future of the whole community and give stability to the way of life.

Did the bullets that were not spent against the Governor's fight serve to kill walkers?

In simple terms, Airon realized that at times he was a complete idiot and at others he thought he could do everything without loss. You can't save everyone and many in a world like this, he needs to understand this and the time he spent together with Alicia made him recognize that he was not invincible.

Everyone can die in a few seconds, moreover under that premise not everyone can be saved. As a good general, he has to move forward despite the losses of his soldiers, but at no cost to forget all those who have given their lives to build a better world.

The community that with many efforts and sacrifices he has created is possibly now stronger than the CRM, there is no doubt that its power could be equal and right now there is no need to fear it. But he should know that a full scale war is not ideal, not until he knows that he will win with minimal losses or have an assured victory.

Since Airon knew about the future, he was always looking at the strongest enemies he was going to face. Because of this, he did not consider those smaller enemies as something significant in his way and that is why he completely ignored the terminal.

And now it turns out, there are troubled communities of whom he had never learned of their existence, so he was really now in a small inconvenience where he had to deal with completely crazy people.

...

In one room, Airon, Alicia, Morgan and Daniel along with the other people of great importance in this community were gathered to slightly brief themselves on what was about to happen and of course, what had happened.

"My team and I were evacuating a nearby military base where there were hundreds of survivors, but just as we arrived the base was overrun by walkers. I, as the leader of my group, decided to stay behind so that my people could retreat to safety."

Airon was sitting in front of these people, Morgan who was next to him nodded silently as he listened to Airon's explanation and did not participate much. "When our helicopter developed engine failure, we were looking for a place to land and at that moment we were attacked by a group called the Vultures."

"Billy was killed.... Many soldiers died under the unreasonable attack of those people." Saying this, Airon looked at everyone and said, "It seems that many if not most know about the group I am talking about. I have a safe community in Atlanta, thousands of people live in that place and I can be sure that food is not something you lack."

"Once my people arrive, I will start evacuating people from this community, it is not safe to stay in this part of the city let alone with those people out."

When Madison heard Airon's words. she shook her head and asked, "So what will you do with that group that attacked you?"

"We'll kill them, they'll all die."

Moments later, there was a cold silence in the room that was broken by Morgan, "Many families have been murdered in cold blood by those people, if we attack them the whole nearby area of this community will be affected."

"We will not participate in this, I don't want them to be confused. Besides, we are very well off in this place." Madison said after some thought.

Nick looked at his mother and pointed out, "We've been to several places that were a real bad experience to live in. It's not that we wouldn't want to go with you, rather it would be because of distrust."

Airon understood that, so he looked at Alicia and said, "Alicia knows me well, there are walkers that your group is not prepared to survive. I look at their camp and by the looks of it they barely have enough to eat, a few more months and I'm sure they couldn't hold out in this place."

"Enough!" Madison shouted when she heard what Airon was saying.

"Seems like you should think about it Madison, my people are headed for this place and we will use it as a temporary base of operations." Airon stood up and walked to the door, "I know I am a complete stranger to most of you, but we have something in common, we take care of our family."

As Airon left the room Morgan followed him, knowing he had to allow them time for this community to think about whether or not to follow them to Atlanta. It must be hard to trust someone who suddenly shows up at your door and claims to have a much safer place, so everyone has to think.

Alicia looked at her mother and said, "They are good people mom, I had time to chat with Airon and learned a lot about their shelter. In Atlanta and Georgia their community has expanded enough to have a safe place for thousands of people."

Nick after being silent for a few seconds said, "They have a base and enough strength to take down the Vulture group, some of our members have died at their hands recently and we know we can't take on the Vultures."

"This is something I need to think about, they know we can't make such rash decisions today." Madison was just trying to protect her family.

Daniel Salazar looked at the Clark family and then said what he knew, "The Vulture group is nothing more than a mere cult adjacent to some nonsense like the new beginning or something, of the people right now in this community some had knowledge about that."

"But killing them all is a very vicious thing to do, I don't want to go to a community run by such a person. Sooner or later it will put us in danger." Madison argued with a bit of tension in her words.

"Those people eat human flesh!" Alicia finally said with a bit of frustration in her voice.

"They must die, I think everyone knows better than anyone that a good leader is one who sacrifices for his subordinates and one who humanely protects his own."

Many in the room knew this, and Madison was no exception. Today, everyone does their best to hold on to whatever humanity they have left in fear of losing it. Daniel didn't care if the Vultures lived or died, he knew killing them would be for the best.

...

Outside, Airon watched from a lookout point in the distance as shadows approached the stadium. Airon with a radio in his hand knew his people had arrived.

"Zz... Airon here Sam, we have arrived."
