One day later.
Texas.
Somewhere near the community of Alicia.
The cool wind blowing slowly and the smell of smoke and rotting are what can be appreciated in the city of Texas, as if it were a war camp.
It could be said that in this great city there is no trace of life, but Airon would not agree with those same statements.
Crack!
The glass of a car was violently shattered and the numerous miniature crystals fell to the ground like small diamonds.
Two figures were walking one behind the other through the streets of this city, under the scorching sun, they were Airon and Alicia.
"Unexpectedly, the city of Texas is just like Atlanta."
In the middle of the walk, Airon slowly stopped, turned his head observed some or other place where possibly there were completely destroyed isolation camps
Alicia's expression to the side was also a bit complicated, and she felt very bad remembering what she had seen similar things in numerous places that had been safe for a while.
Collapsed and broken high-rise buildings, corpses everywhere, weapons, armored vehicles and houses burned by fire, dark houses, surrounded by walkers, and no trace of living people can be seen for a long time, was all that was left in any place they passed by.
All these signs indicate what happened in this part of Texas and not much thought should be given to this, it seems that Operation Cobalt was respected in this part of the country, but there was no winner among the living, infected and undead, all died eventually in this place. Even if there were people alive, they could have long ago fled this piece of hell.
And without the existence of a safe home, no living person would be willing to continue advancing to the city because the military was unreliable. This was because the military itself wiped out the town, this was what worried Airon. Continuing to present himself as military was not a good option today, but was it ever really?
After the two left the red zone where walkers abounded in hordes, they mounted a motorcycle that they kindly borrowed from a good man and quickly fled down a secluded road.
On the way, they avoided the big cities as much as possible and encountered the occasional person.
Everything they observed in this short period of time was much more exciting than what they had seen in the past few months from different sides.
Originally, Airon wanted to go the faster way to Alicia's shelter, but after some discussion they opted for a much safer route.
All this time the shaggy dog was carried on the back of the motorcycle, and so that it would not fall off, it was tied up with a loop for its own safety.
On the way Airon saw that the Vultures were a much larger community than he had imagined, they had apparently robbed many parts of the city and it was not stores that they usually robbed, but shelters for people just looking to survive.
Although Airon seems to have killed one of the leaders of the Vultures, it seems that this group of assassins were not the only ones in that group so Airon wondered the provenance and what the purpose of the Vultures really was.
Clearly they do not work the same as the Salvation Army, at least that was not what they had really seen from their own perspectives. This group called the Vultures was a bloodthirsty group, full of killers and seemingly following a unique format of working.
Of course, all of these things were learned by Airon and his little observations since being attacked by the Vultures.
Withdrawing his thoughts, Airon sighed, "I hope to get to your community as soon as possible, I need to get in touch with my people and hopefully finish things in this place."
"Is it really necessary to start a war where people will die?"
Thinking back on all this time together, Alicia got to know Airon to a great extent and knew what he fought and survived for. It was simple to befriend Airon so it was not surprising to discover those simple thoughts.
Both in a short time had an unspoken understanding and fought for similar things, both knew the most important thing left today and how fragile life could be.
"First we must get to your community, then I'll think about that."
Dispelling the thoughts in his head, Airon walked back to find another route where it wasn't littered with debris, he dragged the hidden motorcycle out of the hidden corner, waved for Alicia to get on and then settled the dog before starting the motorcycle's engine and leaving this place.
The motorcycle was full of obvious repairs, and emitted an unpleasant, piercing roar, which was particularly noticeable in this city full of walkers.
Aware of the restlessness of the walkers around him, Airon knew there was nothing he could do about it, the motorcycle beneath him had already been overwhelmed by the torment of late, it was scrapped, but it was still more than enough to get to Alicia's shelter.
"Come on beautiful, don't leave us without movement in this part of town, the shaggy dog and we need you."
Alicia smiled at these words, although Airon appeared to be serious and a cold man, he really seemed to be quite the opposite at times.
"If you concentrate on driving carefully there won't be any problems."
Riding the motorcycle through the city streets, Airon turned around and looked straight ahead, turning right at the intersection up ahead and they could exit this street.
As you enter the street to the right, what you will find straight ahead is the blazing sun hanging high above your head, and the dazzling sunlight causes you to squint your eyes slightly.
Airon squinted, turned his head slightly to avoid the direct sunlight, but as he drove the motorcycle forward at high speed, his pupils suddenly shrank and he vigorously pressed the motorcycle brake on both sides.
The motorcycle running at high speed suddenly braked suddenly, and even Airon could not control the strong inertia, and the whole motorcycle overturned in an instant, Airon turned around and held Alicia as he could and rolled to the side.
The motorcycle that rolled on the ground finally hit a car hard. With a bang, the motorcycle that was already on the verge of collapse directly broke into pieces.
"Ah, damn..."
Not far away from the motorcycle, Airon moved a little away from Alicia, feeling the pain in his chest and sword, and his hands were bloodied from the ground polishing, so he couldn't help but show a pained expression.
"Airon, are you alright?
With Airon's protection, Alicia only suffered some minor scrapes.
But the situation wasn't much better, she struggled to get up from the ground, helped him up from the ground, pulled out the gun and asked, "What happened just now!"
"Let's move..."
Being helped off the ground, Airon felt not only pain in his arm, but also some weakness in his right leg.
"Damn it, someone tied steel cables in this street and if someone is still around we'll be in trouble!
Hearing this, Alicia unconsciously looked towards the street they were driving down a moment ago, and didn't notice the wires when her vision was blurred due to the sun.
At this moment, she looked at the two lampposts on both sides of the street, and there was a shiny silver steel wire tied to them.
Seeing this scene, Alicia was shocked to think about how fast they were driving the motorcycle at this moment, if they collided at that speed at this moment, their heads would definitely be cut off.
"Don't think, let's enter that building first."
Seeing that Alicia was stunned, Airon immediately reminded her, and then the two of them quickly entered the clothing store behind.
Just as they were hiding, several figures came out of the building next to them, they held guns of different styles in their hands and looked at the clothing store excitedly.
All of these people were wearing clean clothes, with no dust on their bodies, as if they didn't look like they were living in their last days.
"Great, we finally have prey!"
One of the big-looking, curved-nosed white men happily rubbed his hands together and said, "I didn't expect that after today we would have some unexpected prey, now we can have a full meal!"
"Why are you happy? We won't catch anyone just by talking."
Another older white man kicked that man hard, gave a sharp warning, then looked toward the clothing store, licked his dry lips and said, "Alright, it's not those niggers, I've had enough of those sons of bitches."
Then he shouted to his companions around him, "Get them!"
"Okay!"
The people around had been waiting for this sentence and ran towards the clothing store one by one excitedly, but they also knew that the people inside had guns in their hands, so the route on foot was coming to a dead end so they surrounded the clothing store.
But just as one of them was about to enter, a bullet tore through the door going one step ahead.
Boom!
After the bullet went through the glass door, it pierced the man's chest in an instant and pushed him out under the disbelieving gaze of the other party.
As the person fell to the ground, a large amount of blood flowed out, the man only struggled on the ground a few times before bowing his head and dying on the spot.
