Boom! Boom! Crack!
There were several more loud bangs, and the tunnel shook violently again, and the rocky mass that had broken off in the tunnel was falling over a large area at a speed visible to the naked eye.
"Run!"
With morphine coursing through his body, Airon lowered the gun in his hand, gripped Alicia's hand tightly and held a pistol with his free hand.
The walkers in the vicinity were crushed by the stones falling from the ceiling and many of them roared without clearly knowing what was happening.
"Airon, what are you doing!"
Without the illumination of the lanterns on the path, Alicia walked almost in absolute darkness, her heart was pounding and she whispered to Airon, "The front is full of walkers, we will die if we keep going forward."
"The top of the tunnel is full of cracks, we can't stay here any longer, and the back is full of smart walkers, if we continue to the front we won't be far from the exit, we have to risk it!"
As he moved forward, Airon quickly explained what he had discovered and then explained his plan.
Alicia looked up at the top of the black tunnel and still could not believe that there were cracks in that tunnel, but she thought that if the tunnel really cracked, possibly not only concrete would spall over them, but also water from the main pipes going into a lake.
At the thought of such a scene, Alicia couldn't help but shiver at the thought of her family, she didn't say much and followed Airon's lead in silence.
The two continued to move forward, getting closer and closer to the walkers at the side of the dark tunnel, and they could even hear the screams of the walkers' commotion up ahead.
Seeing that the distance was close, Airon pulled a grenade from his waist, pulled the pin, pointed it in one direction and threw it hard.
The grenade spun in the air, crossed behind the tunnel and kept going, and finally landed in the middle of the second-to-last carriage, hitting a walker's head.
Roar!
The walker, who was hit by an unknown object, screamed sharply and moved toward the source of the sound, and in a short time numerous walkers came toward that place, and then a great impact spread rapidly.
Boom!
Accompanied by a loud noise, the grenade exploded in response, blasting the nearby walkers into a bloody mess, and some even flew away. The broken shrapnel also scattered, deeply embedded in the heads and bodies of nearby walkers.
It must be said that it is ironic that such a lethal and powerful weapon once frequently used on the battlefield could not cause monstrous lethality to numerous walkers.
Aside from the initial impact of the grenade, the most effective thing is the splashing shrapnel, which can cause varying degrees of damage to the human body, but this doesn't have much effect when faced with walkers piling on top of each other, and the reason Airon did this is simple.
Boom!
The loud noise reverberated in the tunnel, instantly attracting the attention of the walkers in the nearby ones, and they headed towards the spot where the grenade exploded a moment ago.
Those walkers wandering at the end of the tunnel rushed forward in unison.
Of course, the walkers behind Airon and Alicia are no exception, moving quickly to this side.
"Let's keep moving forward!"
Seeing that there was no threat ahead, Airon ran without making much noise, but suddenly the seven or eight corpses lying on the road hindered his pace a bit.
But fortunately he reacted very quickly, stepped over the corpse, stepped over it and reached the back of a quietly parked train, bent down and let Alicia step on his back to climb into the carriage and then pulled up the backpack of weapons and other more things they were carrying.
Roar!
Not long after they got on, the walkers from behind followed close behind them, crossed behind the tunnel and plunged into the crowd.
As for Airon and Alicia , who were lying on top of the train, they didn't dare show their breath and didn't dare move when they heard the roars coming from their left and right sides from time to time.
The train is between three, two meters high. So right now they were lying on the roof of a carriage and thanks to the night scopes that Airon dared to use he could clearly see some walkers' heads underneath. The number was frightening, which explains the appearance of a silent train on this side of the tunnel. The passengers on this train became walkers, who knows how long ago.
All this time the walkers remained in the dark, which would explain the abnormality of the walkers over their heads and in moving in the dark. But soon the sounds caused when Alicia and Airon came up were no longer heard, and the restlessness in the walkers gradually subsided, and they resumed moving about.
Seeing that the walkers on both sides under the train had not moved, Airon looked to his left and right, seeing those numerous walkers who had stopped paying attention to him, he breathed a little relieved and reached out his hand to tap the sole of Alicia's shoe several times.
After receiving the signal, Alicia slowly raised her hands and crawled to the front of the wagon little by little. During this period, she was very cautious and tried not to make too much noise.
Although the feeling is definitely scary in the dark, walkers have no vision and cannot detect them unless they do not make noise, but apparently so much time in the dark made them orient themselves well in this kind of environment, familiar with sounds or any kind of movement that might attract the attention of silence.
As Alicia moved forward a bit, Airon followed close behind. The night vision ability in his eyes was a great help in orienting himself, but something told him that he should be prepared in case something happened.
Fortunately, the top of the carriage was very smooth, so as long as they kept crawling carefully, it wasn't too hard to avoid making a sound.
But when the two of them climbed from the first carriage to the second carriage, Alicia suddenly saw a black figure in front of her, but she couldn't see it clearly because it was too dark.
The sudden appearance of the black shadow made her alert in an instant, but it did not stop her hands and feet from moving, and she approached slowly.
When the distance was close enough, Alicia finally saw clearly what the black shadow was, and it was actually a corpse with only half of its torso.
The corpse lay on the roof of the car, with both hands trying to maintain the motion of grasping the groove at the top, and the lower part of the body was covered with tear marks.
Sensing this scene, Alicia almost didn't need to guess what the other person went through before dying.
Most likely this corpse tried to climb up the roof of the train car like them, but unlike the calm they now faced, the other part must have attracted the attention of all the walkers.
At the thought of such a scene, Alicia felt her scalp go numb for a moment, but she quickly shook her head, not allowing herself to think about it, and moved her body to the other side to continue moving forward.
Just as she passed over the corpse, Airon followed close behind her and unlike Alicia, he did see the half-body corpse.
Seeing that there were other people at the top of the wagon where they were supposed to be alone, Airon's expression became somewhat tense.
But suddenly he thought of another group of people who were on this train and then to another group of people walking around this same place, further back they left a backpack and now it seems that this man belonged to that group.
They also met a group of walkers in the tunnel, but they did not notice the abnormality of this place beforehand, but rushed in all at once and by the time they found out, it was too late.
As for the corpse in front of him, it may be someone who climbed in haste, although he gained temporary safety, after all, he still could not escape the fate of death.
