In the container, Airon felt a strong pain coming from his left arm. He had been prioritizing carrying the weapons in the bag over his own comfort, but he considered it was necessary.
Airon opened his eyes and looked around in a daze, then saw Alicia who was looking outside with difficulty and said, "We need to heal your wounds, but staying in this place just as it's about to get dark is not a good idea."
Jumping out of the container, Alicia grabbed the bag that Airon wouldn't let go of and helped him out of this place. After looking around once more, the two of them walked out along the side of the street and out of the hospital's vicinity.
The horde of walkers had entered the building, so this would greatly delay the horde giving them enough time to escape. During the firefight, Airon had made sure not to leave any of the enemies' cars undestroyed.
He still didn't know if they were thieves or some members of a nearby community, but there was no doubt that their decisions were stupid. How could they possibly make all that noise when there were walkers nearby?
Airon now can't help but say that he has been very lucky, if it wasn't for Alicia who was helping him at this moment, he wouldn't have been able to get out of the hospital for some time. So now he just hoped to get out of this place.
It was only until they walked a few hundred meters away from the hospital that Airon stopped and saw no walkers nearby following them. Although he didn't know exactly how to feel, his emotional state gradually relaxed and as he turned his head to look at Alicia, he immediately said, "This place is good to rest, we should hide until the horde deigns to move away from this area."
Alicia stopped abruptly, put down the bag of weapons and looked around so she let out a sigh of relief. What happened just now she had never done before, but she was glad that she got out of that hell together with Airon.
She looked curiously at Airon who had only seen him out of the corner of her eye and just as she was about to ask a question, she discovered that Airon his arms and face were covered in his own blood, and she suddenly became worried, "Are you badly hurt? Were you shot?"
"Badly wounded?" Hearing Alicia's exclamation, Airon felt the abnormality of his body and was sure that he was wounded. After the anger, adrenaline and tension dissipated, he felt weaker and weaker and an intense pain hit his body.
His situation in this place so far away from Alexandria and one place closer, Atlanta was too bad.
This realization immediately made him feel a nagging fear as he thought he was willing to die with his enemies, knowing that he made an extremely unwise decision due to the instability of his emotions, if it wasn't for his good luck and Alicia's help, he might have been hit by some bullet in the confrontation just now.
"I'm fine, I wasn't shot, let's advance first towards the inside of this building and once we're in a safe place I'll do something about my wounds."
Seeing the blood continuously flowing from Airon's wounds, Alicia could only accept that what he said was right, she pulled some tissues from Airon's arms and made some ties before looking around.
Although Airon's situation was too bad when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed and was eventually attacked by the Vultures, it was clear that Airon chased them all to death. Therefore, he always thought there would be opportunities to escape from any situation no matter how bad it was.
"There are weapons in the bag, take a rifle with a silencer, we have to check first if there are no walkers in this building."
After saying that, Airon took his M4 and after checking the ammunition in the magazine he entered next to Alicia into the building and immediately turned on the flashlight of his weapon.
This place looked like a bookstore, there were a lot of them everywhere and the silence in the surroundings showed that there was no walker of any kind in this place. After looking through the aisles and between the shelves of books, Alicia turned around and closed the door.
The place wasn't very big, but it was good enough to spend the night in this place. It had already been the longest minutes of Airon's life, and he really never thought things would end this way.
After walking to the bathroom under Alicia's insistence, Airon felt that this was not the end for him, nor how he wanted to end his life, so he had to heal his wounds.
"You're crazy enough to kill all those people without considering your situation, how come you ended up in a crashed helicopter?"
Alicia silently removed some shards of glass from Airon's wounds, he had long cuts and scrapes, in addition to the blue bruises on his ribs and the wound on his forehead.
To tell the truth, Airon had never been so wounded since he knew he was in this world. He didn't have much to say, now he felt really bad about everything he lost in a single day.
Airon sighed and admitted that he didn't think much about his situation, but at first he didn't want to be a person who ran and abandoned those who decided to offer their lives to get that plane off the ground.
"My people and I received a signal at a nearby military base, originally we were in Washington DC but we traveled to this location to extract all the remaining people at this location. When my team arrived, the walkers overran the base and I was left covering the retreat of my people."
"And because of that, I endangered people very important to me, several of whom died and one was separated from my side when the helicopter crashed. I didn't think people would be crazy enough to shoot in the middle of the city and with all those walkers around..."
After hearing this, Alicia realized what Airon was doing in Texas, so she didn't say anything. She simply took the bandage and wrapped it around Airon's waist several times, which she felt was good enough.
After some patching and applying ointment to Airon's ribs, Alicia rummaged through her things and handed him a long-sleeved T-shirt and said, "I had it for my brother, but since your shirt is bloody and torn, you can wear it."
Seeing that the bandages had been placed on his body, Airon stood up and looked at his body in the bathroom mirror, all this time there was an oil lamp next to some flashlights that had served as a light in this dark place.
"I've never been in this bad situation before, do you have a shelter near this place?" Asked Airon after putting on his long sleeved shirt with difficulty.
Alicia then remembered that she had run to the hospital to help Airon who forgot to contact her brother, so she picked up the radio and reported, "Zz.... Nick, this is Alicia, can you hear me?"
"Zz... Sis, where the hell did you go?" Nick's voice came out full of fury at the discovery that his sister had ended up running out of the building to help a stranger.
"Zz... I'm fine Nick, I'm not too far from where we were, I can get back to the community by myself, you must get the meds back as soon as possible."
"Zz... The horde is surrounding the hospital, right now we can take the car and leave as soon as possible, we'll be back for you as soon as possible."
"Zz... No need Nick, I'm not alone and I have weapons, trust me..."
Airon looked silently at Alicia, he never thought things would end this way so he just closed his eyes and tried to rest.
