Chapter 194 - At the Military Base (6)

"It's a military base in Texas, they were supposed to be the ones coming to our rescue and not you guys, but you guys were the ones who got there first and from that military base contacting us we got no response." Said Ben Miller clearing the doubts of everyone in the room.

"You are being attacked by walkers, it would be impossible to get there in time and save them..." Daryl couldn't help but mention this.

"That's not exactly the case, we could get there in less than three hours in a C5. Sure, as long as we set off to that location, make a small stop and then pull out of that location." Eric proposed this to Airon, who so far had been silent.

Ben looked at Airon and said, "There are good soldiers with whole families on that base, we can save them if you make that decision, they will most likely die if we don't save them."

Airon was silent and then got up from the table, "This was not in the plans, this is a very risky request that I must think about."

After saying that, Airon left the room and walked towards an open space not far away. This had become a real problem, on the one hand he had said the speech about saving everyone and rebuilding humanity while on the other hand someone needed his help.

If he decided to go to Texas and help those survivors at the military base he could endanger his people, which he clearly did not want to do. There was already a lot of danger in coming to this place, so he didn't plan to change all his plans and take this kind of risk.

It wasn't just about his decision, of course he wanted to go save all those people in Texas, but he had to consider his family's situation. Just as he was about to turn around, Airon felt someone approach his side.

"They say they can hold out for about six hours, what's the decision you're going to make?"

Silently listening to what Daryl said, to be honest, Airon was actually deep in thought about his next decision, he hesitated for a moment and before Daryl said another word he asked, "What do you think about this?"

"We've done a lot of things together and we've made it."

Somehow Daryl understood what Airon was thinking and what he really wanted for everyone, he was no fool and even if they looked at him silently he was one of the smartest in the group so he said, "But of all the people now left in the world, we are the only ones who can go save those people. I'm ready, I'll accept whatever decision you make."

Of course, Daryl didn't want to say a few words that remarked how dangerous this mission was. He knew what Airon was thinking and also that the best thing for everyone is to go and try to save those people.

"Hmm, looks like my old friend Daryl is getting more and more committed to the community, later the children of those people you saved will write old legends about a man holding a big crossbow and riding a motorcycle."

When Airon mentioned this, Daryl flashed a smile and said, "Shut your mouth! Go back and start earlier, if we delay any longer it might be dark by the time we get back."

"Right."

After having these words with Daryl, Airon took the confidence he needed and pledged that under his responsibility no one would get hurt, those people needed a hero and his community would come to his aid.

When he approached the others, Airon asked the people to gather and also the civilians along with the soldiers of this military base. In a short time, everyone was gathered in front of Airon and he said, "I know it is difficult, there are people who need our help and I think we can do it without having too much trouble."

"Ben Miller, I considered what you told me and I think we can do something with those people at the military base. But there is something I need, I need most of your soldiers to stay at this place, load all the supplies to the C5 planes and start getting everything to the base in Atlanta."

"However, to go to Texas I need you to accompany me since you know that base and have been in contact with their people. I need you to get in touch with them now and tell them that they need to be ready with all their people and the weapons, food and resources that can be brought in on short notice."

Airon took a deep breath and then continued, "Gentlemen, we are the S.C.T. community and right now there are people who need our help, we will do what we know how to do to save them and get back as soon as we hit the ground. Eric, I need you to get a C5 plane ready to leave as soon as possible. If you don't think you can do the old one tell me so I won't risk my people on this mission."

"Yes, sir!" Eric replied with a serious expression, he immediately departed along with some soldiers to prepare and check the remaining C5s at the base.

Many of the soldiers from the five squads that came with their group to this base were silent, none of them really frightened by this. This was what they had trained for, to save, kill walkers and build a future.

On the other hand, the soldiers smirked. If right now Airon had refused to save those people, even if it was difficult they would wonder if he is really a good leader who is willing to do anything.

"Alright gentlemen, together with the civilians start moving all the supplies from this place to the places about to start the extraction to Atlanta, a squad of fifteen men should follow me and the others will stay in this place so that things will go smoothly!"

"Yes sir!"

"I will go with you Airon, I made it a point to accompany you anywhere you went and this time mo will be an exception." Morgan said as he approached Airon.

"No, I need you  to get the job done in this place."

"You can leave Elias, Daryl and the others also want to go to Texas and hopefully see if there is any change in the world." Morgan didn't give in to Airon's denial.

"I will accompany you Airon, no exceptions!"

"And I'll accompany my master!"

Daryl turned in search of his team and Carlos followed him as he talked about a bad joke he heard from Glenn, Daryl simply said nothing and continued walking.

...

Half an hour later, a C5 plane was on the move and was positioned on the military base highway ready to take off for the military base in Texas that was under attack by an hour of walkers.

Airon left Glenn along with most of his soldiers in charge of this place. And as they had to stay for a while in this base, the opening that was in this military base was closed so that no walker would invade this place.

Those who accompanied Airon on this trip were Daryl, Carlos, Morgan and Billy along with some more soldiers who had accompanied him. On this trip there were also some soldiers from this military base who were not pilots and Colonel Ben Miller himself.

After a few minutes of preparation, the C5 was piloted by Eric and soon Airon's group surprisingly embarked on a trip to Texas.

"Guys, this damn trip we'll get a lot of stuff and we'll finally get out of Atlanta!" Carlos shouted with a happy smile.

"Calm down kid, you told me a moment ago that you're afraid of heights."

"I'll close my eyes."

"Hahaha."

In no time, the C5 flew in the direction of Texas in a purpose that united them all, to save the people at the military base and return as soon as possible.
