In a completely desolate town, a group of more than thirty people advanced stealthily through the streets of this small town, all moving one after the other in a long line.
From time to time, a figure would break away from the group to eliminate the walkers with cold weapons, and then rejoin the group to continue advancing.
Just at that moment, the one leading the group signaled and they split into three different groups of people who moved on different sides.
At this moment, Airon led a group of five people, including him, through the silent streets towards the place where the abandoned military resources were located.
They were all equipped with black uniforms, gas masks and M4 class assault rifles. This full equipment was not usually carried much because it was not necessary, but now that the situation was unknown, everyone had to be prepared for anything.
Elias and Sasha were in the forest at a considerable distance with some other people, their job was to protect the group that explored the camp and provide them with information about the environment.
Airon's group was led by Billy who was holding a black ballistic shield that provided the group with security in case they were attacked by people. As for the rest, they looked around and ignored the pursuing walkers.
George looked at the lonely streets and said softly, "Boss, there are only walkers in this place, why don't we take care of them quickly?"
"Can't you think a little further about our situation?"
Hearing this, Airon turned his head and looked at the other party, saying, "It's easy for you to deal with them now, but if we have enemies waiting for us later it will become a big problem for us."
After that, without waiting for George to speak, he continued to move forward on his own.
"Let's go fast, we have limited time, we must get to the camp quickly."
This town wasn't really big, so in a few more minutes, Airon's group reached an open space.
Looking at the Humvees with abandoned machine guns, military trucks with corpses on the driving seat, numerous motionless bodies on the ground and many large tents spread all over this place, Airon looked at the major wounds from bullets.
"Zz... We are on site, tell me what do you see?" Airon asked over the radio as his group waited silently for the answer.
"Zz... Sir, I can't make out anything but dead bodies, the tents make it hard to see from my position but I can see you guys."
Airon frowned as he slowly made his way deeper into the place, just before walking through this place he had reminded his group to properly place the gas mask on their faces.
This place was quiet, there were even no walkers in the tents, only dead bodies on the ground. You could look at assault rifles, pistols and many more on the ground.
"Something doesn't feel right!"
As they walked through the corpses, Airon saw that there was no movement of any kind around them, he approached a tent where there were boxes of ammunition and many other things besides.
"Is there really anything in here?" Jon asked quietly.
He randomly opened the large military tents and found all kinds of stuff inside, Airon looked at the shells on the ground and then said, "It's like they were shooting in all directions, it's not possible for a military group to kill each other."
"It seems that the corpses in this place are very numerous, should we check how they died?"
Airon looked around, checked some artificially constructed spaces and found many resources of daily necessities and abandoned weapons.
"Boss, there's a corpse here!"
As Airon looked around, he suddenly heard Billy calling, when he walked over to look, he discovered that he was standing next to a separate bed inside a tent, and there was actually a crumpled corpse lying down.
They wrapped a thick bandage around the corpse's chest and placed a towel on his forehead. It appeared that the person died here due to an injury. From the fact that the other part did not become an infected person, it could be seen that it was probably a gunshot wound in a part of his head that he did not know right now.
"Do not separate."
Although he wondered why this person died here for no reason, Airon didn't care too much, he turned around to the outside and walked deeper among the tents.
But he soon found something new. Right at the entrance of one of the tents leading inside, he saw a piece of paper stuck to one side.
Reaching over to remove the paper, Airon looked at what was written on it and read it carefully: "Commander, I don't know if I managed to read this, but the walkers in the reports have undergone a serious change. I can't explain it in words, but they are smarter."
"There is one in particular that is attacking my camp right now, if you read this note I really hope you will eliminate all the walkers in the camp."
"That damn walker is different from any other walker we face, so we definitely made an effort to take him out. But the fighters panicked, there was friendly fire, and those walkers overran us long before we could escape."
"Remember, the walkers in this place are much smarter. Some can climb wire fences and there is one in particular who is the smartest of them all."
After reading the contents of the paper, Airon looked at the crumpled corpse lying on the bed in the distance and knew that the other party should be a person of high rank in this place.
Just as Airon was about to leave the tent, he heard a rustling sound behind him and immediately turned around and what he saw shocked him.
"Argh!"
With a slow roar, the dried corpse on the bed slowly stood up and looked towards Airon with eyes full of desire to bite him.
But that wasn't the most important thing, Airon knew that these corpses had been dead in theory for a while now, but how could it possibly get up if it had already died?
Recalling the contents of the letter again and then knowing that there could be variants of walkers, Airon felt a shiver run down his back.
"Zz... Intelligent walkers."
"Zz... Boss, what do you mean?"
"Zz... The corpses are walkers, shoot them all you see on the ground."
When Elias heard those words, he frowned and then moved his telescopic sight towards a corpse. Just as he was about to withdraw his sight from that corpse, he saw movement and slowly that corpse moved again and stood still.
One after another, the corpses around the shelter stood up. They all moved and surrounded the camp, but as they stopped they continued to remain motionless.
"This is impossible..." Elias couldn't believe what he was seeing, those corpses that should be rotting stood up.
"Zz... Sir, they must leave that place immediately! They're surrounded by walkers, they don't look like normal walkers."
Elias looked at Sasha and ordered, "Quickly, we must clear an escape route for the group."
Sasha who was in a cold sweat nodded and pointed his rifle at some walkers before firing. "How is it possible for them to get up from the ground if they had already died? They are completely different from normal walkers, it doesn't make sense.
