Chapter 34 - Everyone is gone

"Well, let's get started!"

Airon stood to the side with a cool expression, his gaze watched Hershel's movements and stood by waiting if he needed help.

"The important thing is to get the shrapnel out of the wound, hopefully I can get it all out and no internal organs are damaged as they appear to be now."

As he finished saying that, Hershel began the operation, his movements were slow and careful. While he slowly moved his hands, Airon took care to illuminate the wound well so that everything was visible.

The operation was slow and the first piece of shrapnel was removed by Hershel, by his words there was no internal organ so everything was going on very well.

The silent place was slowly filled with an indescribable feeling, Airon's mind was flying as he analyzed how he should act upon seeing what happened.

For some reason, things were still happening but in a different way, although the future was now strongly changed by his decisions and ambitions, some things are still happening in the same way.

In that case, he should be careful and move in the most favorable way to take advantage of his knowledge that is still favorable to him.

This mistake would not happen again and from now on he would stop considering others, lately he had been focusing so much on his shelter that he stopped considering some other more important factors. Now he had to focus on what was to come, there were many locos as opportunities in the future.

After half an hour of operation, Hershel had taken out several pieces of shrapnel. Without the right conditions, it all unfolded very favorably.

"Metallic sound!"

The sound of shrapnel colliding with the metal tray woke Airon, who was immersed in thought.

Airon opened his eyes and watched Hershel's delicate movements to pull the shrapnel out of Guillermo's wound hole.

"Looks like that was the last one, I'll check some more before I start closing the wound..."

There was a sigh of relief that Guillermo seemed to be able to recover, he couldn't lose a friend and someone who would help him a lot in his future plans.

After some more time, Hershel began to stitch Guillermo's wound naturally.

In about three hours, Hershel was completely finished. From his words, it was all very fast because the shrapnel did not pierce any internal organs and was too visible to remove.

When he finished, Airon began to organize the place and could not help but admire the skills under pressure that this old man had.

When Airon came out of the room, the people outside had been waiting for a long time, seeing that Hershel had also left they came forward to hear his words.

There were smiles on the faces of several people, Rick immediately approached and asked, "How did the surgery go? I remember Candace saying you had some medical skills, will Guillermo be okay?"

Airon nodded, he looked at everyone with a serious expression, then he looked at Hershel and said, "I must say we owe a lot to Hershel, he was able to do everything without getting much help from me, in his words Guillermo's injury is not as serious as we thought."

"Fortunately the bullet parts did not pierce any internal organs, you have great skills to keep calm even in this kind of situation. If you were a doctor, you would definitely be one of the best." An old voice sounded coming from behind the people, and Hershel took a few steps to look at the rest of the people.

Hershel extended his hand towards Airon Darcy and said with a solemn expression, "Allow me to formally introduce myself, I'm Hershel Greene! A veterinarian, I was the one who performed the surgery just a moment ago, these are my two daughters Maggie, Beth, the one who injured your friend is Otis."

Airon reached out to shake Hershel's hand, turned around and introduced, "My name is Airon Darcy, you can just call me Airon, these are my friends, police officers Shane and Rick, this is Glenn, T-dog and Morgan, the guy in the bed is Guillermo, we are all Atlanta survivors."

Hershel immediately said with a mild apology, "I'm sorry for causing you such a big problem. We will be responsible for your friend's injuries. He can recover with us. During this period, you can stay in our house temporarily. Food and lodging will be provided until your friend recovers."

Rick took over and said, "After all, things haven't gotten any worse, have they? You don't have to be sorry, Hershel."

"Then we'll bother you in the next few days! It so happens that we can use this place as a fortress to investigate the surrounding environment, we won't cause you any inconvenience and we can also maintain your safety."

Airon also nodded and agreed with Hershel's proposal, and then noticed that there were horses on the farm, so he asked, "Hershel, I have a question, do you have any horses here?"

Hershel nodded and pointed to the stable not far away, "Yes, they are in the stable."

"Can you lend me two horses? Our carriage got stuck on the opposite road and we have to bring it back."

Just as Airon finished speaking, Rick interrupted him.

"Airon, take a rest, we'll pick up the car ourselves!"

Hearing this, Herschel turned around and yelled into the room, "Maggie! Get out!"

Soon, a woman in house clothes poked her head out and asked suspiciously, "Dad, what's wrong?"

"You're going to the stables to get a horse, then you're taking them to the road and back."

Maggie shrugged and asked Rick and the others, "Which one of you will go with me?"

"Glenn, go! You're relatively thin." Hearing Maggie's question, he immediately decided to hand the task over to Glenn.

"Huh? I'm going? What, what?"

Glenn hadn't expected to suddenly be called on himself. He had been looking at Maggie for a long time, and when Airon suddenly called him, he immediately became nervous.

"Go with Maggie on horseback and drive our car back, we left a lot of important things."

"Oh okay!"

After the two left, Airon went into the guest room of the house, and as soon as he lay down on the bed, Airon felt his eyelids heavy and fell asleep after breathing a little.

Inexplicably he felt strange, so he decided to go to sleep.

...

Atlanta, geriatric home, a day after Airon evacuated the people from this shelter and they left the city with some extra resources. A group of people were rummaging through boxes in the nursing home at this time, as if they were looking for something among the things left behind.

A tall, handsome, middle-aged white man was standing in the middle of the backyard, looking at a statue of a boy in the pool in the middle of the yard.

On the back of this statue of the boy, a pair of small wings spread out, with a big smile on his face, and two small hands holding a book, pointing towards where the man was standing.

At that moment, a middle-aged man with glasses, who was shorter than the man, approached the man and said in a low voice, "Philip, I looked everywhere and found nothing. The group of people here seem to be gone and the thieves don't seem to have anything..."

After the man finished speaking, the man named Philip Blake was still standing there motionless, still staring at the statue of the boy

After half a minute, they saw him turn around and walk to the corner of the courtyard.

The visitor looked toward the corner of the wall in the direction Philip was walking and found that there was nothing but some bricks scattered there, but he didn't dare ask.

He saw Philip bend down and choose from among several bricks, picked one up, held it in his hand, turned around and walked slowly.

"Milton, do you know why we are here?" Philip asked in a slow, dangerous tone as he walked in his direction.

Milton couldn't help but shiver and quickly replied, "I know, we're here to find medicine."

Philip stood still by the pool, the corners of his mouth slightly upturned, but there was no smile in his eyes, he asked word for word, "So, you, tell me, why, we, we, we can't find that damn medicine!"

As he spoke, the whole person became more and more excited, and the expression on his face gradually became crazy! Almost every time he said a word, the brick in his hand hit the statue of the child. After he finished speaking, only the roar of the brick on the statue could be heard.

Milton stood there with his head bowed, his body trembling with the sound of a cracking sound. At this moment, he only felt a deep sense of fear spontaneously!

This man, better known as the Governor later, began to move closer and closer to Airon's movements.
