Half an hour later.
The place where Airon and his people had the confrontation was empty, leaving only two walkers fixed on a wooden post. They were obviously the ones now hunting Airon's group, so seeing them now as prey was unexpected.
In the end, Airon tied them upside down, their eyes and mouth covered. "We don't need to bring these maggots with their group during the trip," he decided. He chose to embark on the journey without company that would make his own people uncomfortable.
"Airon, are we going to leave them like this?"
No one in the modified RV said anything about it, but many thought that this way was too cruel to leave their enemies.
Airon remained silent for a moment and said, "They would do something worse to us. I left them alive, and if they're lucky, they might survive. Besides, we already have Adam who knows what we need to know about our enemies for now."
...
Half a day later.
The convoy parked in a parking lot where many cars had apparently been since the beginning of the end of the world. They cleaned up the place of walkers and established a small temporary shelter.
Airon took Abraham and Glenn to a five-story building a kilometer away from what appeared to be a hotel. According to the information he had received from his enemies, a support base could be seen from this point.
After carefully confirming that there was no problem there, the three climbed to the roof of the building without any problem.
The small building is located on the west side of a county. It is just an office building. Before the end of the world, there were many companies in it, but now it has deteriorated to the point where it is just pure junk and trash that is worth absolutely nothing.
There weren't many walkers, so the three cleaned up the place until they reached the top of the building. Only then did they realize that a wall was blocking them further ahead, so it would be impossible to pass through that place.
According to the men's information, this place is one of the most important points in the community.
"Have you seen anything?"
"I see a school, but I'm sure it's a settlement... Wait a moment."
Glenn lifted his head slightly and stared at the schoolyard with binoculars. Indeed, there were no walkers inside the fence, but he also did not see any living person on the other side.
Upon seeing this, Airon took out some dried food and sat on the ground to rest.
"We need to take it easy, let's eat something since it's late... Maybe those people have enough free time to eat something during the day or even sleep..."
Glenn also put down the binoculars when he heard this, and just ate the food and complained while eating.
"Why do I feel like those two idiots lied to us? Even if they're sleeping, it's supposed to be a lookout post, but I don't see any guards. If they can survive this long, what are those people doing?"
"The seafood offers them a lot, maybe that's what keeps them so calm."
"Do you know why there are walkers on the street?"
"The walkers wander, and killing them if it's not necessary is just a waste of time, resources, and energy. No matter how many are outside the base, we sent so many walkers to this place that Florida should be infested with hordes."
"Airon knew that even if they had sent hordes of walkers to this place, it was not filled with walkers and it could even be seen as somewhat clean.
But what he didn't know was why these people had no significant defense, even if they were an advanced outpost whose duty was to protect and inform the central base of all problems.
The three of them only kept watch on the roof, waiting for something in the distance to catch their attention.
About half an hour later, Glenn finally found signs of human activity, but it wasn't the school that those men had mentioned who were possibly dead now, but a four-story apartment building a little farther away.
"Look over there, there are a lot of people coming out of the yellow four-story building."
Glenn raised his binoculars and pointed in a direction to remind the people beside him. Airon and Abraham also quickly looked over there and found that a large number of survivors had abandoned that area.
Airon quickly received information. Including the people who were coming down the stairs, about forty people had come out of the building, both men and women. These people had one similarity, their walking movements were very mechanical and their clothes were all torn.
"There are people there!" Glenn suddenly said again, pointing to a small two-story building in another direction.
They found people in two different places. With a thought, Airon simply walked around the roof of the building. No matter how he thought about it, they had found signs of human activity in numerous different places.
Even in a residential house not far from them, more than 20 people came out one after another. Because the distance was very close, they could see clearly this time.
These twenty people were almost exactly the same as the ones they saw at the beginning, with mechanical steps and tattered clothes, but behind them were two types of people with obvious differences.
The clothing of these two people was much more decent, compared to the others, one could say that one might be a newly changed person and the other a man who had come from work.
The two men had guns on their waists, and each held a notebook in their hands. They looked like supervisors. After they came out, these people quickly divided into two groups, each led by one person to the side street.
"Another damn cult?" Abraham raised his voice full of anger.
"I don't know..."
Airon was also lost, but his brain quickly worked and analyzed the current situation.
"Let's go back quickly and leave here first."
Another hour later, the convoy moved to an artificial forest five kilometers away from this area. There was a residential house that had been vacant for a long time in the middle of the forest. They parked the cars so that they could have a defensive area, and the sky was now darkening.
No one waited for orders, they all moved according to what was to be done and did it.
"Airon, did you find anything?"
During dinner, Glenn finally voiced his doubts. In his opinion, Airon must have seen something that they didn't, otherwise they wouldn't have left that place so soon.
"I'm not sure, but judging by the state of those people, they should be some walkers. As for the people with weapons, maybe they're all people from the school community."
"But there's no one at the school, we've been waiting for so long but there's been no sign of movement. If there are people, there's no way there wouldn't be any activity."
Abraham interjected, "That's why we'll stay here tonight. It's closer to the road so we can monitor if there's any kind of problem."
It was past one o'clock, and the sky was already dark, with a faint sound of a car engine on the road not far from them.
"That's them!"
A soldier raised his binoculars, and what appeared in his field of vision was a Humvee vehicle with steel plates.
"Zz... Get ready!"
