Chapter 433 - Preparations

On the outskirts of the city, across the Tennessee River, stands a building with more than twenty floors. If an ordinary group of people at the beginning of the end of the world were to enter a building like this in an urban area, they would most likely die. However, Airon's group was highly trained, and everyone knew how to move around. It was evident that each soldier's physical condition in this group was good. Moreover, with the food at the base enough to feed thousands of people every day, there was no way they would lack energy.

Many thought that it took a long time to raise soldiers, and training and good nutrition played a vital role in maintaining an army. But that was only half true. In Airon's organization, over 80% of the people were soldiers, but everyone helped, either by cultivating or defending resources. Soldiers not actively engaged in special bases were working, either in construction or maintenance of allied bases, always doing productive things. This served the organization well in sustaining and supporting themselves.

And now, more than thirty people had climbed to the top of the building in no time. Although they were panting, none of them lagged behind, and this did not prevent them from remaining vigilant. Airon's condition remained better, which pleasantly surprised everyone. Some in the group had been to Texas, and others had only seen it a few times, but they were all amazed every time they were with their commander.

On the way, they did not bother to clean every room. On the contrary, they sealed all the doors in the corridor. The walkers were a secondary concern for them. So the group arrived on the twentieth floor, which was not particularly high, but they could already see quite far.

Airon did not choose this building randomly, as there were not many tall buildings around it, but this building's view is undoubtedly the best among the nearby buildings.

"What are the observations in the surroundings?"

"There are many walkers!"

"Same on this side!"

"Same on this side too!"

Nick, Alicia's brother, approached in combat uniform and said, "It seems like this place has been like this since everything collapsed. The walkers expelled from Atlanta must have also ended up here. If you ask me about survivors, I don't think there are any."

Looking at the walkers in the distance, Airon couldn't help feeling strange.

"You should never say that there are no survivors. That's out of the question or debate."

Welles, who had a firm expression on his face, was not very optimistic when he saw this scene. It was the first time he had gone out from a far-off place, even with his prostheses on his feet, he performed better than many other soldiers. Although he did not leave the base, in terms of tactical knowledge, he was one of the best and knew a lot.

Getting out of a city infested with walkers is complicated, whether it's traveling underground in the spillway conduits or through the streets, it's simply difficult.

Airon had also been playing it very calmly, and only realized that he could still be hidden from the eyes of the CRM even if he took over South Carolina. Now that he had been expanding his domain to Alabama and South Carolina, his bases and defenses in those places were weak, so when thinking about the characteristic ways that organization attacks, it was really difficult to defend oneself.

Therefore, he had been passive in his movements until South Carolina was secure. In terms of borders, he needed to fix good defenses as they would be the first to be attacked and alert the organization of any other anomalies.

In turn, he decided to send Merle to Texas to explore. He was a great man who could survive in many places without any problems, so satisfying his tastes, he sent him on a mission that would fill everyone with great opportunities.

As for a cure, Ellie's blood had started the process and results were estimated to be achieved soon. But Airon was never optimistic about a cure, that was not really what worried him.

"Saving the world from the virus and dying at the hands of the CRM? Even he did not want that outcome, of course not after so much effort and sacrifice."

Airon thought about all of this, and returning to reality, he was now taking advantage of those hidden army bases to have greater power than the CRM in every way. Even if the weapons are old, they still shoot cartridges and cause damage, so nowadays that was not a disadvantage.

But when he focused on the problems of now, Airon realized that Welles and the others were waiting for his orders.

Looking at Welles and the three captains he had brought with him, Airon forced himself to concentrate on one thing. The most important thing right now is to clear the city of walkers not far away, all with the purpose of entering the military warehouses for weapons and resources.

His mind now began to work quickly in search of a solution, his eyes scanning the city in the distance, and finally settled on the Tennessee River in front of him, so a flash of inspiration appeared in his mind when he remembered something very special, and that is the scene of Rick detonating the wooden point and causing a large number of walkers to fall into the water.

Although it is not a pleasant memory, it must be said that it is worth using this method now.

Of course, he will not blow up the bridge, but it is still possible to find a way to lure the walkers to the river. But not having helicopters to move all those walkers since Airon right now did not want to expose his organization, it would be a good plan to do it this way.

"Let's see if this works..."

...

When Airon explained what he would do next, he revealed everything step by step and everyone felt enlightened by his plan.

The entire population of Knoxville is here, and considering it's an urban city along with those who can't get out, there could still be at least a hundred thousand walkers if he's optimistic in the calculations.

It is important to know that this place is not like Atlanta, where it took over half a year to completely clean up the place. Here, it is a smaller place and, secondly, there had not been extreme events like the CDC alarm that happened in Atlanta where not just a few but hundreds of walkers gathered in masses.

As a result, although all the streets of this city were filled, they could quickly do something to attract and eliminate all or most of the walkers.

It is definitely not a good idea to use weapons to clean up the walkers now, but Airon, as an expert in the subject and experienced visually, knew the answer to a question: what are walkers most sensitive to?

Obviously, it's sound!

If you can make good use of a sharp sound weapon, it will be much easier to clean up all these walkers without the need for any losses.

The task was quickly assigned, and the soldiers of the three squads took a plan of action and left.

The general plan is that the group will be divided into three squads, and Airon will lead a team to the nearby dock, where they will obtain a larger yacht or fishing boat, and the rest will go down the stairs to clean up the nearby walkers.

Everyone who went out this time was equipped with silenced weapons, so even if they all fired together, it would not disturb the walkers walking further away.

After discovering the surrounding situation on the roof, Airon looked at the darkening sky and ordered everyone to hurry up and clean the lower floors.

"Let's stick to the initial plans tonight, hurry up and clean the lower floor."

The group that Airon brought were considered veterans. There was no need to ask for their opinion; they just took orders and completed them, so they quickly divided themselves consciously into three distinct groups and started cleaning the building.

Nothing noteworthy happened during this time.

Later that day, more than thirty soldiers woke up early and were all checking their equipment. It can be said that today is a fairly complicated day. It's a good thing that Airon always considered equipment issues for all his soldiers, so it is difficult for them to be exposed even if they run out of ammunition.

Everyone had basic equipment, with many magazines on their backs for their companions in the back, giving the front line an advantage in mobility to fight walkers and react better.

When everyone was ready, they all went out the door and the first shots were from the people at the front who had no choice but to eliminate the nearest walkers so that their comrades could deploy without any problem.

The walkers were shot in the forehead and fell to the ground like sandbags, but no one cared.

The rest of the people also quickly went out, and the small area in front of the door on the first floor quickly filled with heavily armed men wearing gas masks.

Everyone had the best combat suit, and the weapons were the Mark 1 created by Sheldon Cooper, which was now being mass-produced for soldiers. As for the Mark 2, the chainsaw motor was still in beta testing.

Once again, all the soldiers tacitly formed a group of three to form a small team and skillfully began cleaning up the walkers that emerged around them according to their training arrangement.

Melee combat!

The first team's task is to eliminate the walkers. There were at least a thousand walkers, which would be a problem to attract all those in the city, but Airon knew that each soldier had at least 300 bullets in their back. If there were a dozen soldiers, eliminating these walkers is just a matter of time.

"Alright, be careful not to get surrounded by walkers. Don't be afraid to waste bullets. There is still plenty of ammunition in the armored vehicles."

Seeing that the first group was in combat, Airon led another group in a car and drove away. Welles, who was the captain of the elimination team, was with his soldiers who were currently in combat.

A feeling of firmness came to his heart, even if he was now a disabled person, everyone trusted his command skills, and he quickly raised his weapon and joined the battle.

"As long as I have hands, I will eliminate these plagues from this world until the new day of a walker-free tomorrow!"

Looking at all the walkers around, fifteen people continuously fired. In fact, the effect of a silencer on a rifle is not as good as expected. Additionally, with fifteen people firing at once, this is not a small movement.

Furthermore, the walkers were constantly attracted by the sound, and the scene became extremely delicate for a while. A large number of bullet casings fell to the ground and made a metallic sound, and the walkers fell to pieces under the dense firepower of the elite soldiers.

In this way, fifteen people advanced slowly, and there were fewer and fewer walkers around each time.

Finally, Welles assigned some people to drive the armored vehicles, and then everyone slowly retreated to the riverbank to support the next phase of the plan.
