The girl held two peaches in her hand and looked worriedly at Rick who was pointing his gun at them, while the man next to her kept a smile on his face. He looked somewhat happy and said, "We only have two peaches, folks, do you want something to eat?"
Saying this, the old man tossed a peach to Rick, who froze and looked at the two of them with his gun still pointed at the two strangers.
Daniel, who was standing next to him, approached Rick and said with some concern, "Rick, those two are just ordinary survivors."
Rick slowly put the gun away and said to the two, "Come on down, it's safe."
"Yeah, we'll go down now."
Right after the man helped the girl down, Rick ran downstairs, searched all the rooms and slowly walked down the stairs without finding anything unusual.
By this time, Daniel had already started questioning these two survivors, while Rick walked sideways and watched them silently.
...
"Are you saying they've been hiding in a nearby greenhouse?"
Daniel looked with a calm expression at these people. The name of the little girl was Allison and the older man Chris. Jim next to him seemed to be upbeat, after all it's only a few times he leaves the base. Daniel also seemed a bit calm.
And the girl named Allison looked at all the people with an honest smile.
"How many days have you been hiding in the barn?"
"We hid there for two days, and then the runners came and we ran away."
Daniel looked at these two people carefully, although he seemed happy to find these two people, a trace of bitterness crossed his face from time to time, which gave him a strange look, and then he pointed to Chris's bandaged shoulder.
"What happened to your shoulder?"
As soon as the wound on his shoulder was mentioned, Chris smiled and rubbed his wound superficially. "We jumped off a sale to avoid being eaten by runners. I can tell you breaking glass with your hands doesn't come out like it does in the movies, it hurts like hell."
Jim stepped forward to check the wound and pointed as he watched, "Runners? Well, until recently we called them undead, walkers and the ones you call runners are runner type walkers. What we know is that the virus in their body mutated, making them more dangerous."
"The bandage on your shoulder is dirty, someone from our group will clean your wound in a few moments."
Allison, who heard this, used an anxious expression and asked, "Can you help heal it?"
Jim nodded, his main motive in doing this was to check if it wasn't a bite so he said, "You can sit down, I'll heal him right away."
After he finished talking, Jim gently helped Chris heal his wound and after a while, Jim said, "Okay, it's good that we have antibiotics to avoid infection. You should take this pill and hopefully avoid an infection."
They all looked at the wound on Chris' shoulder and verified that it was not a bite, so they relaxed and trusted these people's words a little more.
"I thank you for your concern, lately not everyone does what you guys are doing for us." Allison said with a happy smile.
The two were excited for a while before they realized that the people around them were watching. They quickly turned their heads and said sheepishly.
"Sir, we thank you once again."
Jim waved his hand, then pointed at the two and asked, "Are they family?"
Allison flashed a thoughtful look and then said, "At the beginning of all this we met in a supermarket, but my father died half a year ago and I was standing next to Mr. Chris who was our neighbor."
"Do you have a gun?" Jim asked without giving it much thought.
Chris smiled, looked at Jim who was the friendliest of them all and said, "Yes, we only have twelve bullets now, we usually need between five to six to kill the runners.... Just one..."
Jim and the others probably knew about the situation of these two people now. Jim looked at Rick, who had been silent not far away. Rick was still thinking about something at this point and didn't look toward these two people.
Jim felt that these two people should not pose a danger, and they might consider taking them back, but Rick had not responded. He was about to speak when Jim suddenly said.
"Sir, what is your decision?"
Rick finally reacted at this point, walked over to the two and looked at them.
Jim silently stepped aside two paces.
Rick's deep voice rang in everyone's ears, "How many walkers have you killed?"
Chris froze for a moment, then flashed a thoughtful look and quickly replied, "Two."
Rick's expression remained unchanged, and he continued to ask, "How many people have you killed?"
"None, how could we kill people?"
"Why?"
Chris replied with a smile, "I like people. I used to think people were suffocating, but now that I can't see people I started to miss society."
Rick didn't ask any more questions, he looked at the two people for a moment and then slowly said, "Our base is not far from here, it will take less than half an hour to drive there."
They all looked at Rick happily, and Chris asked expectantly, "Is there a fence there, is it safe?"
Jim waited to see the expressions on these two people's faces when they heard there was a base, and then smiled a little, "Well, they can look for themselves when we get there."
Rick interrupted their fantasies, pointed outside and said, "You two stay here, we're going to go out and pick some fruit from the greenhouse you mentioned."
Jim enthusiastically expressed that he could lead the way, and the group climbed into the car, headed for the greenhouse.
...
Two Humvees were driving on the way to the prison, and Rick suddenly asked Chris in the back row, "Why did you two come here?"
This time it was Allison who answered, and she said sadly, "Before we went on the other side of Atlanta we heard a lot of gunfire and explosions in that direction. When there were many more of us, our group decided to head that way to try our luck but the walkers were very restless because of the noises and there were only two of us left."
Allison paused and asked, "By the way sir, since your base is near here, do you know where the shots came from?"
Rick and Daniel looked at each other, both had surprised expressions on their faces, they didn't expect that the wave of walkers from earlier could cause such an effect.
Many survivors, hundreds of them, came to the prison for that very reason which was a logical thing to do.
Seeing the strange expressions of the two people in the front row, Chris slowly realized the key to the problem, and continued with some excitement, "Captain Rick, could it be that the sound of the guns came from your shelter?"
Rick just smiled and didn't speak, while Jim off to the side said with a bit of pride, "Yes, we are that base."
"Chris, Allison, we've arrived!"
The girl looked in the direction Daniel pointed, and her expression turned opaque in an instant.
