Chapter 135 - New foothold

Putting up a report that Shane had written and sent with the A-1 squadron captain, Airon nodded to indicate that he knew. After being silent for a moment, he commented on what needed to be done with the people at this location, "Captain, the civilians at this location will have to be sent back to base along with the policemen who are prisoners right now."

"What will we do with the policemen, sir?" The captain asked with a somewhat piercing look, after the lesson Shane gave him, he knew that everyone in this place was an enemy before going through the required tests.

"Well, let me think about it..." Hearing the captain's question, Airon pondered for a moment and said, "Gathering information on what was being done in this place is expected to take a while, but there are people who are on a red profile."

The policemen would be sent to the program for training, all of them would have to graduate from that training before they would want to go back to a normal life. They were all survivors, some would take advantage of the situation but they were needed to be fit to take orders.

Airon did not need scared policemen, fearful survivors or people pretending to know how to use weapons. What he needed were soldiers, warriors ready to face any kind of difficult situations the new world might have them in.

"Will they be sent to the training program?" The captain wanted to be well informed about the orders before making a move.

Hearing what the captain said, Airon raised his hand to look at the time and found that it was a good time to start implementing the upcoming plans.

He was about to give instructions to the captain of this squad when he heard an enraged shout inside the room where the policemen were: "I knew it! They will kill us, they were stupid to lower their guns."

"Keep quiet, they are military and we had no chance to show resistance. No one wants to continue living in this unreal bubble, we all need to move and accept that we are not in control."

"Shut up bitch, you joined with them and you're handcuffed anyway!"

"Don't argue!" Lamson then spoke up to stop the argument.

This loud argument caused everyone to fall silent and look towards the source of the sound, Airon frowned and then looked at Merle who was far away, signaling him to take charge.

Merle smiled and then entered the room, closing the door he shouted in a hoarse voice and soon after everyone stopped arguing. Airon sighed wearily, this scene was truly irritating.

"Alright, pay no attention to those noises, my partner Merle is giving one of the policemen a massage to relax the muscles!"

Everyone's eyes turned to Airon, Daryl even shook his head at the words his brother was preaching in that room, and then Airon turned to the A-1 squad captain to continue telling him what needed to be done.

"Alright, let's continue!" Airon withdrew his gaze and continued with what he was about to say, "The policemen will be sent to the training program after the tests, Merle has the list of the policemen. On the other hand, we need to focus on thoroughly cleaning up this hospital after properly sealing the surroundings."

"Are you planning to open an outpost in this hospital?" Hearing the commander's plans this time, the captain of A-1 squadron was very surprised. This was something he did not expect, at first he thought they would only evacuate the people in the hospital but from Airon's words, he apparently plans to take over the surroundings of this place.

"Yes, this hospital is the largest in Georgia and could be very useful for the growth of our community, it has a lot of medical equipment although it lacks security. We will have to clean the nearby buildings and seal the area, relocate the vehicles and then clean the streets thoroughly to avoid infections."

"I understand sir, I A-1 squad leader will see that your orders are carried out! We have one hundred and five elements ready to provide the necessary support, I will communicate with the central base to be aware of this new point. For now, we will carry out the first orders and send the survivors to the nearest shelter."

"Thank you for your effort captain..." After getting the answer he wanted, Airon expressed his thanks again and then signaled Daryl to come with him. Although it was still early, the next plans must be taken care of.

...

Back in the modified RV, Airon no longer had to worry about the people at the hospital. The only reason he was here in the first place was because he didn't want anything to go wrong. He could easily order a special team to take over the hospital, but he wanted to get experience and find special people.

At least in the original story, they are all of great importance to his plans and the growth of his community. Having the necessary tools, leaving those people as leaders in different places, could have a good development like the territory being developed at Georgia Tech University.

Shane in a few words was ahead of his time, some may consider him a madman but that man was ready for what they were in the first two seasons of the original drama. So now what Airon did was give him wings to take over protecting a safe house himself.

If he left him with Rick, there could be anomalies that hadn't happened so far and besides if he did that, he would be losing a good leader with enough skills to lead a shelter by himself.

After writing so many things down in one sitting, Airon took a deep breath and rubbed his sore hands together. He could only think about this for the moment. As for whether there are omissions, he can only wait until later to slowly add up the anomalies along the way...

Such as getting out of Atlanta, he could go to another state but what he needed was fast transportation, so he had to go to a military base and expect to find a lot of abandoned resources or desperate military.

"Daryl, what do you think of the expansion of our community? Many people love you in the shelters, but I still wonder if you'll ever have a wife." Putting the idea pad aside, Airon looked at Daryl who was cleaning the crossbow.

"I don't care, and I'm not looking for a wife either..." Daryl looked up and said directly.

"Well, I'm thinking of adopting a cat.... A feline companion would be very comforting, don't you like cats?"

Airon didn't mind Daryl's few words, he just laid down on a long couch inside the RV and chatted without a care in the world.

"If I ever manage to find a cat, I'll bring it over so we can eat it. Besides, I thought you wanted a monkey." Daryl said as he leered at Airon.

"Hmm, cat meat tastes bad? Wait, I mean it tastes bad since it's cat meat? I've never eaten cat meat!"

"Whatever!" Daryl said lightly.
