Prodigy. What defines the word 'Prodigy'? Someone who excels at something which people are working hard to master? Or is it someone who is more intelligent and proficient than others? Well, whatever people define it as is not of great importance to me. All I know is that I was nowhere near the level of receiving such praise in my past life. I was always looked down upon and hated for no reason. Did I really deserve that kind of treatment just for being too average? Just for being so normal? People are just too influenced by their insanely high desires and standards. But now, who would dare make fun of the prince? Noone, I confidently say.
Moving on.
WILLIAM'S POV:
The book that Marco gave me, 'Enigmatic's Guide to Learning Magic for Beginners' taught it's readers to chant? I mean, while it's true that people of this world do chant when using magic spells, however, to me it is not a necessity as the spells are usually formed through your thoughts and not the words you spout out. And having learnt science and physics from my previous really helped me out a lot. I also realized that most of the spells being taught within the book corresponds to modern day science in my past life, and I'm pretty sure thats the reason on why the people of this world have a hard time learning magic and new spells, because they don't understand the simple concept of 'Science' , I mean, who would learn science when they have magic, right?
Magic books generally have abstract concepts and complex wording, but in reality, it can be learnt easily. For me, I take only the general concept of the spell and turn them into simpler, more easier to understand, scientific forms.
For example; While most would have a hard time creating fire using a magic spell, I would just use science. Since fire is formed through applying enough heat to a fuel source whilst having oxygen present, I take that concept and turn it into my own form:
I use my hands as the base.
I use my blood as a fuel source.
I use the heat that is within my body to apply it to the fuel source.
Then I use the oxygen that is available within my surrounding.
Through this, a fire would be formed, floating above my right hand, sitting there and waiting for any further actions to be made by William.
"It actually worked!" I was astonished at the fact that my theory worked.
I'm honestly so surprised that my theory was true. Then, with this, I could just use magic without having to chant the magic spells embarrassingly. Hmm, time for the bigger question, can I control the amount of firepower there is just by increasing the intensity of the present elements. It wouldn't hurt to try, now, would it?
Let's give it a try, shall we?
I slowly applied more heat towards my hand and gathered more oxygen from my surroundings.
The fire would then start to slowly get bigger.
"Hm, so it works like this too, huh? This could be helpful." I would mutter to myself, observing the ignited flames burning brightly.
So magic is essentially science in this world huh? It's almost like manufacturing a gun that can shoot bullets easily. Had I not applied science to magic, then I possibly wouldn't have understood a single thing about magic itself. Though, if I did this in public, would people be impressed? Would they be amazed? Or would they be scared of me and call me a monster? I mean, I'm still only four years old and I'm already learning magic like a crazy maniac.
Father and mother always mentioned that I don't act like my age, they say that I'm too mature and act like an old man. It's hilarious honestly, if they knew that their child wasn't actually a child but a middle-aged man from another world, they would actually try and kill me. And I doubt they would be hesitant in doing so.
I should probably get going, father and mother would scold me if I was late to dinner again.
>>>> WILLIAM COULD NOW BE SEEN IN THE CORRIDORS, HEADING TOWARDS THE DINING ROOM >>>>
"I jinxed myself..." I would now say.
Just like another time before this, I was late once more. Well, whatever, it's not like I can change the past or turn back time, right? It's time to focus on the future.
With my silly rambling, I would reach the front of the huge dining room's door.
Two guards were on standby in front of the doors. Guarding the place from any intruders should one appear.
As soon as they saw me, they would now bow sincerely following protocols.
"We greet the youngest Prince with respect!" The two guards would both say this at the same time, greeting me.
"Ah...yes yes. Could you let me through?" I would now ask them politely whilst smiling cutely.
"Very well, Your Royal Highness." They would respond to my orders.
The two guards then began gripping the handles. One for each of them.
They would then slowly pull the doors open, as it would reveal a bright light from inside.
As soon as the light clears off, the interiors of the room would now be revealed. The room was filled with expensive decorations, paintings, sculptures and artifacts which were enough to fill a whole museum. Besides that, a long table made out of marble could be seen, with plates, cutlery, napkins and foods on top of it. The table finished off with fancy-looking chairs that were colored with a black and white pattern.
Those chairs were seated by Father, mother and the other Princes and Princesses, which were a total of 10 people to be seated including me, the seating plan were as followed;
The King sat at the center right of the table.
Sitting to the left of the King, was the Queen.
Sitting at the front right side of the King were the Princes, the order was of oldest to youngest.
Sitting the front left side of the Queen were the Princesses with the same order as the Princes side.
Now, having known the order of the seating arrangement, it would be logical for me to sit at the final seat at the Princes side.
I have a total of 7 siblings, including both Princes and Princesses and me, their names are as followed;
PRINCES:
Eldest Prince = Hans Z. Wilsemann
2nd Prince = Ernest V. Wilsemann
3rd Prince = Nicholas V. Wilsemann
4th Prince = William V. Wilsemann, which is me.
PRINCESSES:
Eldest Princess = Luna Z. Wilsemann
2nd Princess = Amber S. Wilsemann
3rd Princess = Lilith S. Wilsemann
Moving on.
As the doors opened, I would just be standing at the entrance. Observing my current surrounding, and keeping my eyes away from the glares of my competent siblings.
"You're late again, young one." King Heinreicht would say this to me in a serious tone, awaiting my response.
"Yes, I do apologise, Father. I was too caught up in my own studies. I sincerely apologise for being late again." I would respond to him, whilst apologising for being late.
"No matter, have a seat, we will start feasting soon." King Heinreicht would dismiss the fact that I was late and would ask me to have a seat.
I walked over to the chair next to Nicholas, the 3rd Prince.
I began pulling the chair back and took a seat afterwards.
Before me laid many types of silverwares, each having different usage.
"Right, let us begin having dinner. Enjoy your food." The King would start eating dinner after saying so.
The rest followed soon after.
I was just sitting there, minding my own business and eating my own food whilst my siblings were discussing and talking with one another.
"So, Ernest, how is the district that father gave you to govern holding up?" As Prince Hans would ask Prince Ernest.
"The district itself is holding up well and we're gaining more revenue as days goes by. Anything else you would want to know, Dearest Eldest?" Prince Ernest would reply to Prince Hans question.
"Not in the slightest, just suprised that you managed to hold such a huge distract like that so well." Prince Hans would smirk as he said this to Prince Ernest.
There would also be some heavy chatter and gossips from the Princess side.
Princess Luna would then look over towards me.
"William, you said you were caught up in your studies correct? What were you studying so heavily to the point that you were late to dinner?" The Eldest Princess would ask me.
"That...I was uh...studying about magic." I would respond to her.
"Magic?! At that age?" Princess Luna would be in shock as she said this loudly. Garnering the attention of the others.
"I apologise for being loud, but I'm pretty sure that you still can't cast any spells, right? You're only four years old, Youngest." Princess Luna would exclaimed at me.
"That...I mean. It's hard to explain but I can show you." I would say this now, suggesting I should just show them.
"What do you mean?" Princess Luna asked once more as she was confused.
By this point everyone else would already be looking at me.
"Just..look." I would say this to them.
I would begin using the scientific method that I developed once more to cast a spell.
Fire would now began forming at the palm of my hands, floating above it.
"N-no chant?!" Everyone in the room would say this in shock besides the King and Queen.
The King could be seen the most intrigued at what I just did, observing my flames and inspecting every edges of my hands, palms and fingers. He thought it looked easy and seamless for a four year old child that had no prior experience to magic.
"William...are you..the reincarnation of our ancestor?" King Heinreicht would now exclaimed towards me, with a serious look in his face, with the same old grumpy expression that he always had.
