Chapter 37 - You're worth the wait

Marcus and his men left Rocco's largest warehouse after burning it down. Rocco's men came out of their hideouts and tried to salvage everything that was left unburned.

"What do we tell the Boss?" One slim guy with kinky hair wondered.

"I don't know, after tonight, I quit working. My family needs me now and there are other decent jobs I can do out there." A tall guy leaned against a nearly burnt truck as he smoked weed.

"C'mon man, the boss has been of great help to all of us. He's the reason why I'm alive today. As for me, I stick with him. He'll be out in no time." The third guy said.

"We all know who's behind the arson, he's more powerful than our Boss. There's no guarantee that he'll get out now that he has been taken to the most protected prison."

"Just wait and see, he'll get out soon enough and we will have new hideouts."

"Good luck." He threw away the remains of weed and disappeared into the woods.

Meanwhile at Aston Maximum prison, Rocco crouched himself at one corner not wanting to associate with other inmates who were constantly harassing him.

"That belly will shrink in no time buddy." The tallest man among the rest of the inmates jeered on him and he got up.

"Whoa, Mr. Belly is up to the challenge. Come on Buddy, show me what Mama Mia gave you."

"Fight! Fight! Fight!" The inmates cheered on the tall guy.

However, the guards sounded a warning as the warden open the cell gates for Rocco.

"Where are taking our punching bag?" Rocco's intimidater asked.

"Shut up Pipi!" The prison Warden warned before taking Rocco with him.

"So is my lawyer here?" Rocco asked.

"You don't get to ask questions, get in." He pushed him to a dark room and slammed the door hard on his way out.

"Five minutes!" He ordered.

Rocco sat down and placed his hands on a small wooden table with a candle that flickered in the cold room. The shadow of a tall silhouette was visible on the dark walls.

"When will I get out of here?" Rocco asked.

The person standing with his back facing Rocco chuckled.

"How could you let him take you down?"

"Excuse me? Are you the lawyer they sent or some kind of prick...why the heck are you hiding your face?"

"I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself but only on one condition, kill Shark Griffins."

"Who am I talking to?" Rocco wondered.

"We're surveying the same road..."

"Really? You're wasting my time...

what's with the hiding your identity?"

"Too much questions will only lead you to your grave. Are you in or not?"

"Let's see if I can trust you...I don't want to spend another night in this filthy cell."

"Meet me tomorrow," he took out a note and threw it on the table.

"Your time is up, let's get you to your cell." The warden grabbed the collar of his prison attire and took him out. The person turned around and left the prison.

"I can't sleep with those rascals, get me my own room." Rocco complained.

"This is not your home, got it?" The Warden pushed him into Pipi's den.

"Guys, he's back." Pipi swung his hips and got on his way.

"Let the game begin." One inmate banged his bed.

"Pipi! Pipi! Pipi!" The rest cheered.

Rocco folded his arms and waited for Pipi to make a move. The fact that he was calm made Pipi step backwards. Rocco walked to his bed and laid on it as the rest were astounded.

"What just happened?" They murmured amongst themselves and retired to bed. Rocco took out the note and read it. He smiled to himself as he was grateful that someone else was willing to work with him. After the FBI raided his den, he tried to get in touch with his allies but it was futile since no one got him covered. Rocco had underestimated them, they betrayed his trust and he so promised to take them down one by one. He might have lost everything but he was someone who didn't give up easily.

"As expected, he paid him a visit a while ago."

"Keep an eye on the lad."

"Yes Boss."

The call was ended and a beautiful woman appeared, startling him from his thoughts.

"Come here," he pulled her into his arms.

"Were you gazing at the stars?" She asked him.

"You're the only star that I want to stare at all my life." He lifted her chin up and placed a gentle kiss on her eyes.

"I also want to kiss you," she gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

"That's a sneaky one, definitely not romantic."

"You never teach me how to be romantic..."

"A lame excuse from the most beautiful lady in the universe." He caressed her cheeks tickling her.

"It's so natural for you men.... kissing someone isn't a great deal."

"For sure it is, some lips can't be kissed...so rough."

"Is that your last straw?"

"Definitely not." He smiled fondly at her.

"Your first time?"

"I was fifteen, an awfully teenager experimenting with the nanny's daughter." He said amusedly.

"You're a bad one. I really don't know why I never got to lose my virginity to some random guy, like other damsels did back in middle school. I was scared to fall in love let alone give myself to a guy. Ever since I was diagnosed with lupus, I had this feeling that I'll die a virgin, I'll die not having a boyfriend. I was on the outside always looking in and I never cared if I was in until I met you."

"And you'll never lose me, believe me you, I'll go to any lengths to save you. It scares me every time you need someone to watch over you. Ain't a quitter because you're worth the wait." He took her hand in his and gently squeezed it.
