Carina sat patiently waiting for Vanessa who parked her expensive Mercedes Benz on her reserved parking place. She was a sophisticated woman who still wore high heels and short dresses to compete with the other young women. She didn't want to admit that her skin was already wrinkled, concealing her fifty-year old face with heavy make-up.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting." She gave her a peck on the cheek as she pulled a chair to sit down.
"Not at all." She smiled fondly at her not knowing the intensity of her words. Vanessa was a cunning woman. She was slouching lazily on her new spa all day, getting her nails done. She didn't go to the office and Carina didn't think much of it until she saw her unique velvet stick ons.
"Wow, I love your nails." She complimented her even though she was seething with anger inside. She was clever enough to know that Vanessa was taking her for a fool. She just wanted to see how long she would last and so she let everything slide.
"Honey, what did you want to talk about so urgently that you had to disrupt my meeting?" She said while tucking some strands of her hair behind her ear. Carina snorted inwardly and wore a plastic smile to conceal her disappointment.
"That lowlife doesn't stand a chance with you people. I discovered that she has been suffering from lupus for the past fourteen years."
"Yew! Thank God it wasn't my son. She should not step into any of the Griffins' properties because she's dirty. Lupus is an incurable disease and maybe some day that wretched soul would rest and rot in hell." Vanessa felt sick just by what Carina had mentioned. Carina shook her head with disbelief when she thought of how sinister her soon to be mother-in-law was.
Even though both of them had evil plans against Yara, Carina however felt remorseful because she wasn't that cruel as she was.
"How did your find out about it though?" Vanessa was curious to know how the woman she so despised got such important details.
"I have my sources." She muttered proudly. Since she knew she couldn't let a snake to slither into her bosom. No one was supposed to know how she almost mistakenly bought a cream for Lupus patients. That was her secret alone.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Dr.Matt arrived and met with Shark Griffins. Everything had happened so fast and he didn't think too much about the grudge he held against him. All he was concerned about was getting Yara through her weakest moments.
"What's happening with her?" Shark asked Matt after a moment of silence.
Dr. Matt hesitated whether to tell him the truth about her or keep it forever hidden. However, he had to spill the beans so that in future, he couldn't hurt her or anything.
"She was diagnosed with lupus fourteen years ago and she has been in and out of the hospital since then. She has no much time left to live considering the fact that her kidneys are failing. If she can't get a donor in the next one month, I'm afraid we're going to loose her." Dr. Matt sighed heavily leaving the latter dumbfounded.
"Excuse me doctor, your attention is needed." A female nurse scurried towards them.
"You'll have to excuse me." He stood up and looked at his fellow whose mind had perhaps wondered far away. He remained rooted on the seat probably running short of breath. He couldn't believe that the woman he was so much obessesed about was leaving him soon. He had no chance to be with her, just like Olivia, she was leaving him too.
His thoughts were suddenly disrupted by Mr. Banks who sat beside him.
"What are you doing here? I thought the two of you had broken up already."
"Sorry?"
"Aren't you my granddaughter's boyfriend?" He wondered why Shark was snubbing him.
"No, I'm his cousin and I own this hospital." He blurted out having been caught out of the blues. That was the only excuse he could come up with when he couldn't sum up courage to tell the old man that he was the reason why hus granddaughter ended up in a hospital bed. If only he had known she was terminally ill, he wouldn't have pestered her.
"She's all I have left with after her parents passed away. I can't afford to see someone's son suffering because he chanced to love her. Death is unpredictable and that's why she promised that she was going to end everything she had with that boy. After all, the two of them never really liked each other."
Having heard that, Shark had hopes to win her over now that Blake wasn't considering to keep her.
Suddenly, his bodyguards stormed in and stood in front of him.
"Boss, we didn't find anyone with that type of blood but I'm afraid the one who could give her her own blood is from your family." The leader of the five men informed.
"Marcus, what are you implying?"
"Your father found us while seeking the possible donor and revealed that your mother's blood type is also B negative. She's the only one who could save her."
"What exactly is going on here?" Mr. Banks asked confusedly. Before he could get a response, Shark and his men had already dashed out of the hospital.
Shark's convoy pulled over at the Griffins' mansion and Shark hurried into the huge parlor to find his mother. Vanessa heard his son calling him and wondered what was up with him. She took the bottle of wine she was drinking from and came downstairs.
"Honey, what's up? Why the face?" She touched his burning forehead.
"Mom, I need your help. I need you to save Yara." Shark spoke immediately without giving a thought about it.
"Shark? What have you done? Didn't I warn you to stay away from the likes of Yara. Do you even know that she has lupus? For fuck's sake! Can't you think with that thick head of yours?" Vanessa confronted him.
"So you know? For how long have you known that she has lupus? Answer me mom!"
"I got to know about it today, at least someone cares for the Griffins and had to let me know."
"Carina? I knew she wasn't up to no good." Shark pursed his thin pink lips.
"I don't want you to get involved in someone else's mess Shark. Let Blake take care of that lowlife he chose to bed." She sneered.
"Her name is Yara, mom and she needs your blood. Mom, please save her." Shark was almost on his knees begging her, something he didn't do, something that amazed her mother.
"No! Shark no! Stay away from that diseased girl, she's a bad omen to our family, can't you see that!" She screamed her guts out breaking the bottle of wine in her hands.
