He smiled at me, as I walked in through the gate. He was standing on the top of the steps. There was a glow everywhere, with light reflecting off the leaves, the sand, and the stones. He was not alone, he had a friend standing near him.
He laughed with joy, as he took the baby from my arms. The baby also smiled at him, as if they knew each other from another time. He pressed the baby to his chest and walked out. He said something to me, but I did not hear anything as I looked on to the joy on their faces. A light filled the space around me, as I stood with the image of an old man and a small baby in his arms.
I woke up with a start and realised that I was still lying on the bench outside the teashop. I felt a movement near my feet. I looked down, in the dim light from the bulb above, and found a dog curled up beneath the bench. It did not move again, as I tried to recollect my dream.
My watch showed 2 am, as I tried to find some meaning. I slowly drifted off to sleep, as my mind raced through past and present.
