The audience erupted in thunderous applause. I was watching the play from the audience, capturing the pictures also. People were on their feet as the curtain fell, there was nobody in the audience who was not clapping. I felt proud to be a small part of the team.
I rushed backstage to congratulate the group who excelled on stage and found myself in the middle of a scuffle, with a group of people pushing and shoving Balu and team from backstage on to the temple ground. They were shouting and hurling abuses at Sankaran and Balu.
Suddenly the organising committee members arrived with the police to the spot and tried to intervene. It seemed more policemen had come during the play and someone who looked senior stationed himself between the sparring groups. With so many fighting and pushing bodies, it was impossible to see who was who.
