Chapter 15 - Chapter Fifteen

"This was well needed. What do you think, Jade?" My mother asks from the front seat as we pull up on the turn to go to our house.

Dinner was amazing just as always. We went to a sushi bar after going to a Teppanyaki restaurant.

We laughed and chatted while trying new stuff.

"It was well needed and amazing as always."

She smiles and nods.

"Well I am definitely going in to have a shower then go straight to bed." She announces once we pull into the garage.

We exit the vehicle and go inside.

I check the fridge for anything sweet and I see a cake that's already been cut.

Thank God.

I cut a slice for myself then see my father so I cut a slice for him as well.

"Dinner was great, wasn't it?" He asks before taking a bite of his cake.

I nod and he nods as well.

My phone vibrates on the counter.

You decided yet?

Jordan.

My father raises a single eyebrow. "Just be careful." He gives me a small smile before leaving the kitchen and going in the direction of his room.

I see a call coming in from Jordan.

I answer.

"Jade, you didn't see me text you?" The call hasn't even started properly yet and my mouth is full of cake.

"Mhm I was just going to answer." My words come out muffled but I still try to swallow the cake in my mouth as quickly as possible.

He kisses his teeth then sighs. "Whatever because I literally texted you multiple times."

I check my phone and in fact see many texts from Jordan.

"I'm just seeing those." My voice sounds far as I scan through the emotions of the multiple messages.

"If you say so." He trails off. "That's okay though, Jade. Do you." He hangs up.

Weird.

Checking my messages, I see Alexia also texted me so I just call her instead.

"What's up?" Is the first thing she says as soon as she answers.

"I just came in from dinner with my parents. You?"

"Nothing new. I just got back from shopping with my mother. How was dinner?"

I tell her all the details of dinner and she suggested that we try the same restaurants together since she's never been.

"But your day sounds fun too. What did you and your mommy get?"

She turns on her camera and goes through a lengthy haul and some stuff she also picked up for her mother for Christmas.

"Do you have plans for the break?" She asks me once we've settled down.

I shake my head. "No."

She smiles. "Good! We can go on the yacht then. Y'know it's almost time for me to get a job since I'm almost done with school so I wanna have some real fun."

I nod. "I can't believe we're going in the real world very soon."

She does a small laugh. "And sooner than we think because who would've guessed that I would be in my second year of University?"

Alexia went straight to University after high school but Jordan and I went to college first. Alexia always knew she wanted to be a lawyer since she first met my mother but prior to that she wanted to be a teacher. She's a micro influencer but still insists that one day she has to be a judge or work in politics.

Jordan wants to be an engineer which is why he's doing his pre requisites from now.

I will either be a lawyer like my mother, an entrepreneur like my father or a politician.

"Who would you invite to the yacht?"

"Not Jordan." Her answer comes out before I finish my question. She scoffs. "That's for sure. So far though, I can't really think of anyone else."

"Oh suh nawmal pree?"

She nods. "I wanna do it right before we go back to school though."

We continue to talk about the event until eventually I'm speaking to myself and I confirm so by listening keenly to hear Alexia's soft snores.

I decide to just hang up the phone after whispering goodnight even though I know she can't hear me.

I go downstairs to make a snack with Mimi by my side as company.

"Mimi, what should I have?" I speak to her.

I browse through the fridge and settle on some leftover pasta that I just reheat and sit at the island to have while I scroll through TikTok.

The volume of my tiktok lowers and a call comes in at the top.

Tego.

"Hello?" Why is he calling me so late?

"Hi." He sounds relieved.

"What's going on? Why are you calling me so

late?"

He breathes. "What's wrong? I can't call you?"

I push my brows together. "Yes- no- of course you can call me it's just that-"

"Right. If I'm allowed to call you then what's the problem? I was thinking of you that's why I called you."

His sweet words bring a smile to my face. "Thinking about me?"

"You don't believe me?" He asks.

"I don't know." I trail off. "What were you thinking about me?"

He laughs. "A lot of things."

We ended up talking about any and everything including allowing him to meet my baby just for him to tell me he doesn't like animals until all of a sudden I was waking up at 3 in the afternoon because my door is being knocked aggressively.

"Jade!" I jump out of the bed and wipe my eyes to reveal my mother with a scowl on her face.

"Yuh sleep dead. Wake up, man. We have to get some stuff for Christmas."

I sit up while still rubbing my eyes.

"Unnu cyaa stay suh man. Get up!"

She kisses her teeth and walks away mumbling as I slump back in my room before finally picking myself up to get ready to go on the road with my mother.
