The major called my name and like any other person, I went beside him, waiting to hear his last words. Looking down at the man, I could see that he was in pain, but despite that, he still waited patiently for me to take the pip-boy and activate it.
"At last, someone got to use the pip-boy. I wouldn't have thought that my people would die in an ambush, and yet here I am, dying on a god-forsaken mountain watching all of my friends and family's bodies. However, for some reason I'm not sad, maybe it's due to my old age or it's simply because you found us, young man, but in the end, I know that our legacy would continue to exist one way or another. I'm sorry for putting you through this, but my body is no longer responding, so would you grant me a quick and painless death?"
I didn't say anything, but I grabbed my pistol and aimed it at the major's head. He gave me a pained smile before closing his eyes. A second later a gunshot echoed, as the body of the major hid the ground and with it the last of his people. It was a sad ending, but a necessary one, especially since the major knew that there would be no way for him to ever recover from the explosion and the damage done by the short burst of radiation. Because of that, he decided to trust me, a complete stranger, leaving all of those things to me to carry forth their legacy.
Just as I was about to start grabbing all of the stuff that survived the explosion, a notification appeared on the pip-boy, making me wonder what in god's name happened and who was contacting me. While I know that it was just a matter of time until Meyer and Goris get past the blockage, my curiosity won me over. I quickly raised my pip-boy and took a closer look at that notification.
[A dying wish: Grant a swift and painless death to the wounded major. (Completed)

As soon as I opened the notification, another panel appeared showing all of my stats and skills, making me wonder just how this little thing actually worked.

I would lie if I were to say that I wasn't surprised by what I was seeing, then again, ever since I escaped from that hell, I've got to see and experience many things that I wouldn't have ever thought about before. While I would have loved to be more skilled in some areas, I can't say that I'm not satisfied with what I have for now, since I'm more than sure that there would be a chance in the future for me to upgrade both my skills and stats.
Once I was done checking my skills, I start grabbing anything useful like the energy weapons, ammo, supplies, and even the power armor and the combat armor, leaving nothing behind for the NCR to repurpose for themselves. Was it a jerk move? Sure, but at the same time, I was not part of the NCR and had no desire to ever become part of it, mostly due to the hefty amount of tax money needed to be paid monthly for nothing more than being part of the NCR. They would not send any unit to be garrisoned to every town since they are at war, if raiders attack one of their settlement, they would simply let it be until the raiders leave or a unit is finally sent to deal with the problem.
After fifteen minutes of carefully searching the whole area, I've managed to get my hands on ten energy rifles and while only two were still usable, there would little to no problem fixing the rest, as well as only two suits of power armor that could be used, the rest were destroyed beyond repair, and not even I using my ability couldn't fix them, but I still grabbed them, just because I could. However, the best part of this was the almost twenty suits of combat armor that were stashed in boxes and scattered all over the area.
Just as I was about to make my way back to Goris and Meyer, the ground start to shake. Unfortunately, for me, it seems like lady luck was not on my side today. As I took a step back, I lost my footing stepping on something before falling to the ground. If that wasn't bad enough, the rocks that were once standing still above the shack were now coming down on me.
I barely had enough time to move my body back a meter before a rock bigger than a deathclaw fell right in front of me, impaling itself into the ground. I stare in fear at the rocks, before I felt myself being dragged away by someone or something. A moment later, I found myself looking at Goris, who grabbed me and start carrying me like a sack on his shoulder, running as fast as he could toward the entrance where Meyer and his group had blown up.
Thankfully, Goris was fast enough to get us out of there just in time, before the whole area collapsed, burying everything that once was inside that small clearing. As soon as Goris put me down, I stare back at him, still in shock, but at least I was alive.
"I told you that this would end up badly, sir."
"Shut up, Liam. We saved Dante, that's what's important, ain't it? So kiddo what have you seen there?"
"Dead people… they were enclave soldiers…"
"Enclave? Fucking hell, now I regret blowing the whole area just to get you out of there. A pity, thought we could have used those advanced technologies to fight the legion. Alas, there is nothing we can do now. C'mon lads, let's get back to our temporary home."
"What about that thing?"
"Don't worry, big guy. I'll get you a direct line with the outpost once we return to the mining settlement."
