Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Intern

Tracy was happily carrying loads of files from one office to another for signatures, on her first day as an intern. Tracy had secured herself an internship at a top advertising company at her city. Although she had not been assigned any specific desk or a specific task she was happy she got the chance to be there.

"Shit" Tracy was shocked when she hit someone and scattered all the papers she had been given to photocopy. Without looking at the person who had caused that she bend down and started collecting the papers. 'He should at least apologize' she thought to herself. After realizing the person Infront of her did not move an inch she raised her head and what she saw nearly made her faint.

"Ahh sir...I'm really sorry I did not know it was..." Tracy was not given a chance to finish her sentence because the man just got into the elevator Infront of them without looking at her. 'So rude' she thought.

" Who is she?" Alex asked his assistant but his assistant seemed not to understand him. "The lady who offered flowers outside?" asked Fred "Nope the absent minded one outside the elevator." Alex seemed agitated when he said the last words. "I think she is the intern that was recommended by professor Abigael." Abigael was a professor at a private university in the city owned by Alex's family and since he was the only child, he was to inherit it. ALL advertisement company gave a chance to one intern every year from that university.

Tracy was on her lunch break seated alone since she barely knew anyone due to her quiet and shy nature. She was thinking about her family which she did not consider as a family. She had done a lot of things to win her mother's affection but everything only got worse. When she was still under fifteen years she had improved her grades, did all house chores after school and even cooked for her family but they only made her feel unwanted. Sometimes she felt she had been adopted or a witch had cursed her into repelling people.

"Hey there our lucky intern?" Dan was so lively and he though he had just won a lottery by the new intern being a lady. Dan had a reputation of being a playboy. Tracy just smiled at him without uttering a word. Dan tried to start a conversation with her but it was like a question answer thing and Dan got bored and left. Tracy was already used to repelling people from her so she was not surprised.

Alex was having lunch at a prestigious hotel when professor Abigael called him. " Speak" Alex was angry that she called when he was having a meal but he could not ignore her since she had been one of his professors back in the university. "My girl is in your company as an intern I hope your people don't turn her into an errand girl she is a bright mind." Abigael went straight to the point because she was already informed what Tracy had been doing. She feared because knew Tracy was not the type to argue or complain to her superiors.

"Ok" Alex spoke after some time. " You, Alex don't just say ok that girl is even better than fifty percent of your employees I do not want her to waste herself remember you owe me one, see to it that she is given a respectable desk and a good supervisor to learn from." After that sentence Alex hung up the call and thought to himself 'how dare she order me, she should retire already.'

Tracy got bored and decided to go back. When she got into the elevator someone else also got in just before it closed. When she realized who he was she thought it was the best opportunity to save herself from being an errand girl. "Good afternoon sir, I'm Tracy the new intern." Alex only nodded without looking at her. She felt bad by his reaction because she expected for him to at least say something.
