Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

"OH...MY GOD..; Kate...is that you?" An excitement fueled male voice made her turn around and her eyes locked with the person.

"Sam..." her features lit up with enthusiasm when she recognized who it was. Sam was the son of her father's friend and they became buddies when she went to school until an attack happened and she was forced to learn from home. But they got together when ever they met for any function and enjoyed each other's company. And unlike the Don, Sam and Kate were of same age.

Kate immediately wrenched her arm free from Quisito and ran to hug her friend. It felt like she hadn't seen him in decades.

"God...It's been a long time. And by the way you look breathtakingly beautiful" Sam commended as his eyes travelled through her body.

Kate suddenly felt uncomfortable because she could sense his difficulty to stop staring at her chest.

"Sam...I heard that your team won the tournament last month; congrats" Kate smiled at him, who was trying really hard not to drop his gaze below her chin.

"Oh its nothing. We win almost all the time" Sam shrugged but she didn't like how he didn't appreciate their own victory.

"So...how are your studies going?" Kate asked as she made a mental note to leave him after he answers that question.

"Yup...its...all good" He replied as his eyes settled on her cleavage, giving his answer an innuendo. He was clearly and shamelessly aroused.

For a moment she glanced back at Quisito and she was shocked - coz he was fuming, his nostrils flaring as he took heavy breaths. She got afraid just by looking at him and since she didn't want to cause a scene, she decided to go back to him.

"I..i..gotta go. See you later. Bye" Kate stammered while moving away from Sam, but he pulled her back, crushing her chest against his.

"What's the hurry Kate...we're meeting after a long time.." Sam said in a seductive voice and she felt her insides clench.

'You are just like a brother. How can you say this to me' she thought, while turning her face away from him, but he didn't let her go.

Sam was about to close the distance between their faces but a strong hand wrapped around her and separated her from him, making his eyes widen with fear.

"Listen lamb chop..." Quisito barked while securing Kate safely in his arms "The only reason I'm not killing you is because I do business with your father and I hate disappointing my clients"

"I-I..I'm so sorry sir..sorry" Sam gulped and without another look at her, he fled the place.

"Had a nice meet and greet...sugar?" Quisito mocked Kate, who was still in shock of how Sam had behaved. Of course, the dress did make her look sexy, but she never thought he would come on to her like that.

"Come on..,let's get you something to drink" Quisito took her hand in his and walked her to one end of the bar.

He ordered wine for both of them and that's when a few friends of Quisito approached them. While sipping on his drink, he chatted with them, all the while holding her hand.

Sooo possessive!

Kate slowly drank from her glass, enjoying its taste because it was exquisitely prepared. "So...who is the lucky lady?" Kate heard one of the men ask and she looked up at them.

"Oh, she is...Winston's daughter and she's just accompanying me...nothing else" Quisito said simply and she wanted nothing more than to throw her wine at him. Instead, she crushed the urge and fidgeted a smile at the strangers. Their conversation steered into topics that she did not understand and so she let her eyes lazily roam around the bar.

At one of the dark corners of the room, Kate spotted the restroom and had a sudden urge to pee. She set down her unfinished drink on the bar's counter top and began to walk away but Quisito pulled her back, bringing her back to his side like a dog on a leash, but he didn't break the conversation.

Her hands itched to scratch his eyes out but the only thing that prevented her from doing so was her brain whispering 'act civil' to her.

She felt ridiculous because of the fact that he didn't trust her to walk without his permission. But she never gives up, if anything, others did. She would get what ever she wanted, even if she had to burn down the whole place for it.

With determination, Kate dug her nails on his hand, making him look at her in annoyance.

"I need to use the restroom. Let me go" she whisper shouted and after few seconds of stare down between the two of them, he released her.

"Come back to me as soon as you are done" he ordered before she left. His eyes followed her until she disappeared from sight and only then he resumed his conversation.

Kate walked into a little crowded restroom and relieved herself in one of the empty stalls. When she came out, the whole place was silent and all the stalls were empty.

It felt weird.

Shaking her head at her own unwanted thoughts, she washed her hands and turned around to dry them....but her heart almost stopped when she saw the reason for the empty restroom.

A man, a few feet taller than her, leaned back on the door with his ankles crossed and his arms in his pockets. Tattoos reached up and wrapped around his neck, giving him a dangerous appearance all together. He watched her with keen interest, just like a spider that watched its prey that was stuck in its web.

A man in a lady's restroom was not good news!

Her pupils dilated and she suddenly felt the temperature in the room drop. She swallowed nervously and licked her lips, trying to come up with a solution but unfortunately, her brain was blank. She even thought of trying to lock herself in one of the stalls and maneuvering her way out through the teeny tiny glass window but her legs seemed to have forgotten to function.

He wore a brown tux that held a Lapel pin which shone bright along with the diamond earring on his left ear. Her vision blurred on the edges as fear dug deep claws into her quaking heart. The man was clearly waiting for her. Just when she thought that she was going to have a cardiac arrest due to the tension in the room, the man spoke up.

"Katelyn Winston...isn't it..." his voice was gruff, as if he had been chewing on gravel.
