Chapter 219 - Alexander’s preparations -214

When a member of the O5 council takes control of the situation, things start moving fast, for with them comes the endless resources available to them, something that really made everything move quickly.

So, when Alexander took control of the SCP-7905 situation, things went smoothly and quickly. He quickly sent a small army of D-class soldiers down to clear the forest around the cliffs that made up the entrance, a small rocky hill deep within the forest.

With the clearing came room, and with room came larger machines to help clear the area, enabling them to make more room and flatten out that room for setting up a small containment SITE. This allowed for defenses to be set up, including large-scale anti-air defenses to keep the place safe from this side and large ground-to-ground defenses to stop anything trying to come through the cave opening.

At first, the SITE was filled with the many D-class who functioned as free and disposable labor, but with time, more of those were sent off again. The more hardworking and skilled D-class weren't easily thrown away; instead, it was some far more disposable people with little to no skill outside of crime and those unwilling to labor away all day who were sent over.

These were the lowest of the low, and their deaths would only serve the world and the human race for the better.

They were joined by more military-like personnel, as well as researchers who would be closely monitoring the area, mostly for the shifting in gravity that could happen when another world appeared on the other side of a small cave.

It wasn't anything big; in fact, the SCP had very few passive effects on the area after settling down. It was likely only the Foundation that had the technology to detect the special warping that had happened here, and it would settle down in a few years.

On one side, Alexander was slightly shocked that it had even been detected in the first place. There were no such things in the old universe, likely due to the cave and the secret passage into the other world having been there for a long time before being discovered.

Here, Alexander knew the very date that that portal opened up, but he had expected that it would act much like other objects and be far more seamlessly integrated into the world. Things didn't just appear out of nowhere; new Foundation SITE didn't just pop up.

No, they existed in a state as if they had always been there, roads leading up to them. Maybe they were already connected to the utility services. Even other SCP objects didn't just appear, no randomly appearing forests, and they had always been there, at least that was how it felt like.

But this object clearly hadn't always been there, and he wasn't entirely sure what it all meant. Was this because of Solomon's Wisdom? Or due to the nature of whatever merger between the two universes? Or was it just this SCP that was special?

He hoped he would get some answers once they were ready to send people in to investigate the other side. The plan was to first send in some D-class, then depending on their findings, they would send in an MTF and then an elite team for more research; this team would be made up of a few members of his own guard, who would be wearing the new Foundation Iron suits. The Captain America squad, and Hulk and his little girlfriend.

The last two would be the more elite scientists he would be sending in in the first wave. Bruce Banner hardly needed an introduction, having more PHDs than Tony, not that Tony couldn't have more if he wanted. The two of them were just different people living in different worlds.

Tony needed no piece of paper to show his skills. He had a company and wealth that allowed him to show his skills through results. Bruce Banner needed to get those same papers so he could get attention and grants, work, and laboratories he could work at.

Though he was brilliant and would be a boon on his mission, not to mention the Hulk was one of the most powerful forces on earth, maybe in the universe, depending on how strong and angry he was. After all, only power stone Thanos was able to treat him like a child.

Had it not been for that Stone, it might not have been so easy for him; after all, Thanos was likely greatly enhanced just by having the stone in his gauntlet. He would likely ensure that nothing happened, more so since he had his little girlfriend to protect.

Dr Lena Morries, she too was a skilled researcher, a student of none other than Dr. Bright, one of the Foundation's best and craziest. Someone who once attempted to see the shy guy's face. He really didn't know what was good for him, but he was good.

He hadn't always been, but after getting his hands on the original SCP-963, he had quickly been trained and thought. And without having to take care of his health, he had learned a lot. The Foundation had plenty of means to boost someone's intelligence, but it came at a heavy price.

Those who took those drugs couldn't live very long, not to mention they were given other drugs to make sure they could work while ignoring the side effects of the first drug. All in all, they could live for no more than half a year.

It was a big problem for most, but not for Bright, who just needed a new body, something the Foundation was able to give him plenty of. he had the skills taught to him and a brain boosted to be able to use those skills.

Thankfully, he didn't just teach others to be as crazy as him, even though Lena Morries was reported to be a little too willing to get into dangerous situations. She was still very skilled and very qualified for the jobs she did for the Foundation.

There was also another person on the team who had a keen mind: Peggy Carter. She might not have been a scientist, but she had been a top agent and built Shield. She had her own strengths and could see things in ways few could.

She was a little strategic mastermind and was someone who would do well in a strange new environment; she would likely end up being the leader of the team, something he was willing to allow. His own men were mostly there as more muscle and some other skills the team was lacking.

Plus, they were loyal to him, something he couldn't entirely say for the rest of them. They might own him a lot, but Team America wasn't his people.

Bruce Banner, too, owed him a lot, but again, he wasn't fully his; Morris was the same, loyal to the Foundation, but not to him.

So the few members of Alpha-1 he was going to send over had their own missions, which benefitted him alone, though the question of whatever those could be carried out depended on whether or not this world on the other side was the same broken world they knew about, or something entirely new.

------------------

As preparations continued, a small group of D-class personnel were selected to be the first to enter the cave. Among them was D-9341, a man in his mid-thirties who had been serving his sentence for armed robbery. The promise of a reduced sentence for compliance was the only thing that kept him from outright rebellion.

The D-class personnel were equipped with basic survival gear, cameras, and communication devices. They were briefed on their mission: to enter the cave, explore the other side, and report back any findings. D-9341 was nervous, but curiosity also gnawed at him. The idea of discovering another world, something completely unknown, was thrilling in a way.

"Alright, D-9341, you're up," a researcher directed. The others followed in line as they approached the mouth of the cave, a dark and foreboding entrance hidden within the rocky hillside.

As they entered the cave, the air grew colder, and the light dimmer. The path was uneven, and the walls were close enough to feel a sense of claustrophobia setting in. D-9341 tried to steady his breathing, focusing on the task at hand. The group moved deeper into the cave, the only sounds being their footsteps and the occasional drip of water from the ceiling.

Suddenly, there was a subtle shift, a change in the air pressure that made D-9341's ears pop. The passage widened, and they found themselves in a cavern that seemed to stretch endlessly. The darkness was profound, but as they moved forward, a faint light began to illuminate the path.

D-9341 emerged from the cave into what looked like a completely different world. He blinked against the brightness, his eyes adjusting to the sight before him. Instead of the dense jungle he had come from, he was greeted by vast open grass plains stretching as far as the eye could see. The landscape was dotted with wildflowers, and a gentle breeze rustled the tall grass.

Turning around, he saw the large mountain they had just come through. It loomed over the plains, its rocky surface standing in stark contrast to the gentle rolling hills that spread out in all directions. The sky above was a brilliant blue, with only a few wispy clouds drifting lazily.

"Holy shit," he muttered under his breath, unable to believe what he was seeing. He wasn't alone in his awe; the other D-class personnel were equally stunned, some of them openly gawking at the scenery.

The researchers back at the site were bombarding them with questions through their earpieces, but D-9341 could hardly focus on the words. He walked forward, almost in a daze, taking in the serene beauty around him. Birds with iridescent feathers flew overhead, and the air was filled with the fresh scent of grass and wildflowers.

"D-9341, do you copy? What do you see?" The insistent voice of the researcher brought him back to the present.

"I... it's like a whole different world here," he replied, his voice shaking slightly. "It's just open grass plains as far as I can see. There's a big mountain behind us. I've never seen anything like it."

"Keep moving and document everything," the researcher instructed. "We need as much information as possible."

D-9341 nodded, even though they couldn't see him. He turned on the camera mounted on his chest, trying to capture the landscape as he moved forward. The terrain was unlike anything he had encountered before, with the grass swaying gently and the occasional call of distant animals.

He couldn't help but wonder what other secrets this place held. Despite the fear and uncertainty, a part of him was excited about the possibility of exploring this new world. As they ventured further, the landscape continued to amaze and bewilder him. He knew he was just a pawn, a disposable asset in the grand scheme of things, but in that moment, he felt like an explorer, a pioneer stepping into the unknown.
