Chapter 59 - Assessing The Damage -57

The list of new SCP objects was by no means short. It makes up almost half of all SCP objects currently in the world.

"Let's see what we have. SCP-016, Sentient Micro-organism, Keter class. Not the worst anomalous disease. Though the possibility of causing mutations is worrying, I really don't need mutants running around."

Alex read and thought aloud as he made his way through the list. For this particular one, the helpful system just told him the number of infected, which were currently zero.

"SCP-900, City of the Sun. It's a location-type object. It will be hard to keep hidden." With a few clicks of his terminal, he sent Foundation personnel to watch the coordinates provided by his location tool.

"Now SCP-407, the song of Genesis, is useful. Without the Extremis drug or SCP-500 I'm lacking in healing abilities. This will enable my next move." The location tools were proving unhelpful for this object.

Yet the usefulness of the object was far too great to be ignored, so he quickly assigned a substantial amount of resources for its securement and containment.

SCP-1049, the bone-stealing owl, wasn't very interesting at all. The location tool also didn't show anything at all. So, for now, he could only let it be.

"Could 1015 be what I have been looking for? It's called Poor Man's Midas for a reason. Hopefully, this will give me the reward I hope for. Should also be easy enough to find given its rather troublesome effect for the owner."

Alex imagined that news of someone turning anything they touched into pennies would spread rather quickly, allowing his agents to locate it rather quickly.

At first, SCP-1230 didn't seem all that interesting, yet the more he read about it, the more excited he became. "amazing!" he exclaimed as he imagined how much fun that book could be.

He was, after all, already living the dream of being reborn in a fantasy world, or a fictional world at least. If he got hold of this object, he could live in a fantasy world every night, be the hero, and save the day.

"I guess I have something for the bookworms to do." He muttered to himself as he sent orders to Tau-9 to search for the object. Instruct them to go through every bookstore and library in the world if they had to.

"These few objects really don't disappoint." 1471 was another one that he was familiar with. He might not have known it by number, but he couldn't imagine any fan of the SCP universe not being familiar with Mal0. Or maybe it was just him who had seen some rather spicy fan art of this one.

SCP-860 didn't interest Alex as much as the other few had done. The blue key was far less useful than SCP-005, the skeleton key that he already had in his possession.

455 was equally as unimpressive. So he guessed he shouldn't be too sad about having boring objects appearing this time, as having an endless maze of a cargo ship interior was far preferable to something like the shy guy.

"093, the Red Sea object. I guess Having access to that alternate dimension could be useful for the containment of certain objects. Once found, I can send it to site 98; perhaps it can help introduce Pym into the world of SCP objects."

Alex hadn't forgotten about dear old doctor Hank Pym; he just did not have the time or energy to deal with the old man. Perhaps this object was key to bringing the ant man on board.

"Ahh, 1678 is UnLondon, well that shouldn't be terribly difficult to find. yet it's just another location-based object, so it will be costly to contain." Alex could already feel money starting to leave his bank accounts.

"1295, Meg's Diner. Keter class location-based SCP, one with potentially world-ending powers if not properly contained. Yeah, today is going to be real expensive."

The next one, SCP object 3008, was also a fan favorite, the good old infinite IKEA.

"The system tool is useless again, but I guess I just have to check every IKEA store out there. Can't there be that many, can there?" Another message was sent out, and mobile task force Tau-51 was mobilized.

"SCP-835… what kind of name is Expunged data released… holy fuck! That's disgusting!" Alex felt sick to his stomach after reading and watching the pictures in his 05 version of the file.

The Foundation really did thoroughly test all SCP objects, if possible. Let's just say that the reason for the remarkable growth of this particular object was the number of D-class personnel fed to it doing testing.

"Worthy of being a keter with the amount of money and resources the containment requires."

"1765, another Keter back-to-back. This one is particularly nasty and dangerous. I wouldn't be surprised if the ancient one got involved with these three reality-bending maniacs."

The amount of data available to him about these three entities that made up SCP 1765 was truly staggering. The number of recordings made up as much as 100,000 hours. On top of that, an analysis was made based on all that video footage by other Foundation personnel.

This particular object was not just dangerous but also going to be enormously resource-intensive.

"002, the living room. This damned system of mine really hates giving me any proper information to help me locate them." Alex cursed as yet another object would be hard to find, given the uselessness of his location tool.

"1338, Finally, the tool actually shows something. Doubt given these coordinates, it seems to be an enormously large area, not precise but better than nothing, I guess." He could only shake his head and send the coordinates out to the rest of the Foundation so they could follow up on them.

"2430, the Immortal Hitler clone, I remember this one vaguely." Alex smirked as he closely read the file.

"I'm pretty sure he was supposed to be completely mad, wasn't he?" He questioned the void as what he read didn't fit with his memories.

If he wasn't wrong, this immortal clone of Adolf Hitler was supposed to be as mad as mad can be and incredibly sensitive to pain.

Yet, from the information available to him, that just didn't seem to be the case. It was mentioned here that due to cooperating with the Foundation to help locate multiple SCP objects previously held by the Nazis.

The Ethics Committee had allowed him to read German newspapers and write to them once a month. That indeed didn't seem like he was mad at all; there was no mention of pain sensitivity.

Other than the Ethics Committee seems to have excited that tests of his immortality should be highly lethal as to prevent undue suffering. Apparently, the clone itself had requested a shot to the head if necessary.

"I must admit I do have the perfect use for this guy. Now I just need to have him contained before he starts up some kind of massive riots wherever he is." Alex could only hope he didn't appear in the middle of Berlin. He really didn't need a "look who's back" scenario on his hands.

"1689, a bag of infinite potatoes, that will certainly help keep food costs down over at the Colosseum. Perhaps I should even start my own brand of chips."

He would have to ensure that this object reached his hands as with the infinite amount of free labor available to him, he could turn this object into a lot of money.

Object 1171, humans go home, seemed to be just some human-hating racist being from a parallel dimension. Given those no way other than to write on a glass pane to communicate with this, it didn't seem very interesting.

Perhaps the Red Sea object could open a portal to this dimension? Or perhaps he would just have Pym waste some time on this.

1370, The Pesterbot seemed to be a fun little SCP object. A tiny robot that just would make grandiose threats to everyone yet have no ability to carry out those threats. He wasn't entirely sure why it was even labeled as an Euclid class, which seemed pretty safe to him.

SCP-131 was a safe class object; more than that, it was a friendly type object. These little beings who were capable of watching an object without blinking could help contain multiple dangerous objects.

Objects like SCP-173, the sculpture, and object 689, the hunter in the dark, could both be shut down by 131 in case of a containment breach.

"SCP object 3199, humans, refuted. This is a troublesome Keter one, LK class scenario? Well, that doesn't sound good. Will need to get men on this ASAP."

"The infinite speed computer, SCP-155, could be useful, even with the limitations. It should also be easy enough to find as long as someone uses it. The only danger is someone using it for some really dangerous Marvel science thing.

SCP-1281. The harbinger, Alex, couldn't see why this was given a safe class classification. Yet containing it would prove nearly impossible until he had an advanced functional spaceship available to him.

And finally, SCP-701, the hanged king's tragedy. The only thing that drew his attention to this particular SCP object was the note requesting to upgrade the classification to Keter class due to a memetic virus.

Yet, given that it had not been in this world before this moment, he was entirely sure if it would ever become a problem. After all, what were the chances that the completely unknown theatrical play from 300 years ago would suddenly gain popularity?

Still, he was not going to take any unnecessary chances with any of the 28 new objects. Alerts and notifications were sent out one by one to Foundation SITEs across the world.

Within moments of these notifications being sent out, they were red and further spread that site directors and overseers informed their on-the-ground agents of half of the situation and potential objects.

It was going to be an intense period of activity for the Foundation, which had the potential risk of drawing undue attention. Taking such a risk was necessary to safeguard the world from anomalies.

At the same time, Alex had clear only hope of success soon as he desperately needed some points. After all, it had been a while since he had been unable to afford the monthly summoning.

Alex was left incredibly busy for the foreseeable future. He would have to push a few projects back a little while he dealt with this situation.

-------------

[Triskelion]

Natasha, along with Clint, Hill, and Agent Coulson, were all present in the office of Director Fury as she delivered her verbal debrief.

"Alright, Agent Romanoff, what is so important? You thought it had to be delivered verbally like this." Fury asked impatiently as he could hardly wait to get some answers.

"Starting from the very beginning, I was lightly briefed by Alexander Ricci himself before setting off in the plane. There wasn't much of interest to mention from this experience. With the exception of his maids. They all reminded me of the red room."

"You believe he had dealings with them?" Fury interrupted.

"I can't be sure. They had training that seems to be below what would be allowed to graduate, yet it's entirely possible that they went through at least some of the training." Natasha could see the others sink into thought.

"On board the flight, I was given access to a folder containing a large amount of information about the ten rings and particularly its leader, the Mandarin, who goes by the real name of Xu Wenwu."

She could see Fury look at her intensely, at which she shook her head. "I was unable to get a copy of it, so I will write down a copy from memory later."

"Make it a priority; for now, continue your debrief."

"Alexander had a small chat with me about the flight; he talked about the red room, though he did assure me that they didn't have dealings with them, though of that, I can't be certain. What freely stood out to me, though, was the way he talked about his dealings with the Mandarin and the purpose for doing it."

She could see that she had everyone's full attention at this point.

"The language used as if painting himself as someone preserving the peace, working for the good of humanity. It's crazy to think that a powerful criminal like Ricci thinks of himself in such a way. But the words he used, his expressions, he truly believed it."

"Furthermore, the way he talked, it was as if he was insinuating that he was part of a bigger whole. He had partners he worked with to ensure World Peace."
