Chapter 7 - 7

- It's good that you still live here, otherwise I thought you had changed your place of residence. The stranger spoke deliberately cheerfully. Although everyone was well aware that the area around the house was littered with the smell of vampires.

Peering at the vampire I didn't know, I began to examine him. But immediately, my eyes caught on his clothes.

- It can't be, it's a garment... - no sooner had my thoughts in my head thought out, than Tanya came forward from our side. And her look definitely did not bode well.

- Volturi... what a meeting, and what have their chain dogs forgotten here?! – her face was distorted in a grimace of anger, hatred and some kind of resentment. A hostile aura began to spread towards the people who were wearing dark robes.

- How not culturally Miss Denali, let me introduce myself, Eleazar. – lifting the corners of his lips in a semblance of a smile, he made a half bow. And his eyes were calm and confident.

- I travel the world looking for people and vampires with special talents (abilities) that would help not only the Volturi clan, but all vampires in general. You can consider that I am on a peacekeeping mission. – with the same cast calmness, he continued to explain his presence here.

The speaker himself, what was his name Eleazar like. He looked like a handsome man, 180-185 cm tall, with black hair and red eyes. The skin color was like any other vampire pale, but slightly gave off a slight olive tinge.

- In my opinion, he would bring great benefits to the Volturi clan. the vampire finally explained his purpose. Pointing his hand right at me.

The situation from "maybe everything is very bad" turned into "That's not good". In general, it heated up to the possible limit. And this is no good.

Everyone who was standing on my side instantly perked up and stood in a stance, ready at any moment, if it comes, to break away and eliminate the enemy. The fangs appeared by themselves, everything in their body said that they were ready for battle.

- Don't you think that's not a good idea? – he sighed theatrically heavily and pointedly spread his hands. But it was too late to do anything. Tanya was the first to attack, and then we joined her.

Tanya, at the peak of her abilities, rushed straight at Eleazar, but he deftly, as if playfully, at the last moment easily dodged the direct blow of the vampiress and blocked the next one with his hands. From the outside, it looked like he was bored, and some child stuck to him in a desire to play.

Kate, too, did not slow down and rushed at another vampire, also dressed in black, sometimes red robes. She managed to push the vampire aside with a surprise factor that wasn't ready for her ability. Mental electrokinesis. To use this ability, the vampiress needed direct contact with her target, to touch a part of the enemy's body, she had no difficulty.

Activating the ability, she passed a charge of current through the entire body of the nameless vampire. Because of what, he fried and flew back a few meters.

- And that's why, pray tell, it was necessary to complicate everything so much. Eleazar clicked his tongue. And becoming serious, he immediately threw Tanya away from him with a direct blow to the chest. Irina, Emma and I, of course, also did not stand idle.

And yet, how did it happen. We lost to the nines. After taking the vampire out of the game with Kate's help, that's where our luck ended.

"*Sigh* It's all my fault, it was necessary to stop them while there was such an opportunity and prevent a battle. How wrong I was to think that with Tanya's experience and our family's abilities, there would be enough to cope with them. I overestimated myself too much," I had to admit bitterly.

I didn't think through the moment that the vampires who arrived with Eleazar might also have special abilities, how stupid I turned out to be. Damn those Volturi!

- Okay, okay! I give up, please don't touch anyone else! – I gave out emotionally to Eleazar. Looking at the injuries of his family in some places. Now they were all on the ground, as if someone had sucked out all their strength. No one was prepared for such a turn. I was too relaxed thinking that becoming a vampire and awakening teleportation became some kind of imba. As it turned out, not at all.

- So be it. And I wasn't going to kill any of you anyway. We are of the same race as you, and we only needed you. – he stated phlegmatically, how can he treat this situation so calmly? For him, what is commonplace.

- Please, Alex. Don't... – mom hissed in pain, the girls absolutely agreed with her, so they were able to convey their indignation without further ado.

- Forgive me, but this is for us, for our good ... – these words were given to me too hard, I was disgusted with myself, because I am weak and unable to protect my family, which angers me even more!

- We're leaving. Eleazar said briefly and nodded to the other vampires. It's time to go.

As soon as we disappeared behind the dense trees of the Denali forest, which marked how I was leaving my family, leaving those alone. As a painful cry rang out next to the abandoned house.

- No, no, it's all happening again! Volturi again... . – if Tanya could cry, she would do it. This event reminded her of how she had lost someone dear to her, whom she considered a mother.

At the moment, I was already several dozen kilometers away from home. Did I really think that a quiet, peaceful life was waiting for me. Thinking about it, it really seems silly and impossible. The freaking world of Twilight, the concept of "quiet" and "calm" is simply incompatible with it.

We got to Italy, having spent about four days in time. They ran 24/7, vampires can see perfectly in the dark. And with frequent nutrition, fatigue is not felt at all.

We arrived there at night, so I simply could not enjoy all the wonderful local views. Although vampires can see in the dark, it still doesn't compare to what it looks like during the day.

Although, no one gave me much to look at the local sights and landscapes.

After a while, we finally got to our destination, Voltaire. The place where the most powerful and numerous vampire clan lives.

The abode of the Volturi clan looked very old, it smelled of antiquity. But with all this, it was hard not to be proud of this place, carved columns and other objects of antiquity had their own charm.

Along the way, until I was brought to an audience with the royal family of vampires. Admittedly, it really shocked me a lot, I couldn't even think that they were dating ordinary vampires. Although my ability is too useful for them.

So, while I was being led, Eleazar decided to remind me of the rule that every vampire must follow without exception.

The rule says not to let people reveal themselves as a vampire, the punishment for this is death at the hands of the Volturi.

In fact, there were a few more of these rules, but this was the most important of them. Both for me and for all vampires in the world.

Eleazar himself was a member of the so-called vampire caste, which was nicknamed the "Elite Guard". They are guardians that consist only of vampires with special powers, for example, he brought not only himself, but also told about the twin sister and brother.

The girl whose name was Jane. With just one look, she can hurt you like hell. Actually, this is what this ability called the "Illusion of Pain" consists of.

Her twin brother is Alec. His ability is to turn off the feelings of others. That is, complete disorientation of the enemy. Together, this couple is a killer tandem.

From Eleazar's stories, I realized that they were too blindly devoted to the Volturi

Of course, I haven't seen them live yet, but I know them in absentia from the films I've watched. It's just a pity that some events just fell out of my head and I can't remember them in any way. I hope all this is temporary.

I will not deny that meeting with the royal family scares me, terribly scares me. If only the guards are such monsters, then what can be said about the vampires that control these very monsters.

But honestly, Eleazar turned out to be a pleasant companion. Chelsea and Afton, whom I also managed to meet during the journey. Eleazar even apologized for the extra measures he took, which I was extremely surprised at.

If you look, then vampires are good, but this devotion of blind puppies annoys me a lot. They do not even think of doubts that the Volturi are doing everything only for the benefit of vampires.

Looking up from my thoughts, I noticed that we had arrived at the center of Volterra. We stop traffic near the clock tower.

After we stopped, we entered a nearby alley. Then we stumble right into the hatch, Afton opens it and we jump down there. Seriously? Catacombs?!

I land gently on the cold stone floor. Then, after waiting for everyone to descend, we continued walking through the dimly lit tunnel until we reached a dead end, at the end of which there was an iron door.

Afton stepped forward and with an effort began to open the tightly closed door. And it wasn't that that was surprising, but what the thickness of this very door turned out to be. Probably about a ton or more of weight. It was a complete shock to me that vampires could be so strong, according to memories from a previous life they did not seem so powerful…

After passing through the door, which Afton was holding for us so that it would not close, I heard a ringing bang of the door being automatically locked back.

After looking around, I was greeted by a bright room with white walls, on which copper-colored divorce had already appeared. Most likely from the water. In silence, we reach the elevator and go inside.

The elevator itself didn't seem safe to me, but after looking at how confident the others were, I also went in. The trip on a completely non-technological elevator did not take much time.

[A few years ago, before becoming a vampire]

Having dinner at home with Emma on an ordinary evening, an extremely interesting offer came from her. From which I came to inner delight.

- Alex, honey, Martha and I have been conferring here and we were thinking about going somewhere to unwind. – tired after work, but extremely pleased, my mother spoke, which made me look at her suspiciously.

- And where did you want to go? I spoke in a calm voice, trying to hide the signs of my curiosity. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was very intrigued by this moment.

- One of these days, an excursion will be held that will tell the story of the founding of the Denali National Park and show local attractions, and since, although we have lived here for quite a long time, we have not yet seen all the local species. Emma was deliberately telling her plan slowly.

- So, I talked to Marta and she agreed to come with us, isn't it great? Mom asked finally.

For me, the tour itself was not of particular interest, but once again to spend time with Marta, that's me for. And who would refuse to be in the company of two beauties. Although... there will be some, but I'm definitely not.

- I will be happy to go to see our park, Mom! I finished happily and smiled cheerfully.

- Oh, really. Okay, Sweet. Emma answered me with a little surprise, but definitely with joy.

A couple of days later, my mom, Marta, and I were standing in front of the bus with the tour tickets we had bought. The queue for the bus quickly faded. And now we were already sitting in the front rows, waiting for the start of departure and the guide, who was probably a little late.

- Can we go somewhere else after the tour? I suggested to the ladies. Since I wanted to use the whole day in full.

- hm..I agree! Martha smiled slyly at me. Although the situation of women in modern times was strange from my point of view. But even here, there were people like Marta. That they were just as open and cheerful.

- Then maybe we can go get something to eat after? – Emma also supported my idea. And in my head I was building a new plan for today.

- That's great! – the day promises to be simply excellent.
