Chapter 10 - Waste Of Money

Her body twitched as the sweet smell of marijuana that wafted through the dim office of Cesar Lockwood. She felt helpless. Whilst, the man sat leaned up in his chair appearing to be in his own haze by the stolen joint, Beatrice had begun to sober up enough to fully understand the gravity of the situation.

She had seen her employer in a compromising state over a man that held little to no consent. There was no way of escaping such a situation, she doubted such a man as Cesar Lockwood would be willing to let the situation go. She knew too much.

Perking up at the slight moan of the chair that carried his weight, he swerved to view her through the cloud of smoke that gathered itself around him. Putting out the cigarette, he leaned forward to intimately make contact with her eyes.

"I could kill you, Darling. You are practically begging for it from the way you disobeyed my orders in coming back.." Allowing a smirk to overtake his features, she found herself left in a trance at the man's blatant threat, this was a moment where she needed to play with his head. If she didn't, there would be consequences that would surely make her life meaningless.

Silently masking her emotions, she mimicked the posture of the man in power, granting him her own smirk she found words that would tease him so. "...But you won't. A few words from me could cause your reputation to end or continue. Even if I die now or later, there will be problems that you won't be able to silence."

"Ha. You seem quite sure of yourself. Do you truly believe that man has any chance of tainting my reputation? I'll buy off anyone that would get in my way." He stated, his dark eyes staring deeply into her soul as his smirk remained on his face as a way to intimidate her.

She faltered. This man was not someone to make rash decisions. If she were to desire the man to even hunch for the likes of her, she would need to play with his mind in a manner that would throw him off guard.

Ensuring that she did not let her hesitation consume her facial features, she eyed him through a piercing gaze, letting words take over her before she could even think of what was spoken.

"What is stopping you from buying me off?"

He paused for a moment. Looking down to a side drawer where he extracted a refined encased box withholding a pack of six cigars. Opening its confinement, he held it between his middle and forefinger, occupying his hands with a box of matches. He lit his cigar and relished in the sensation that overtook his being, resting his head back to let out the smoke.

"Did you know these Cigars were a gift from a Sultan in India? Mm...Yes, I have business overseas you see and managed to gift him one of my most beautiful women. He became so pleased with my gesture, he granted me a Cigar Brand worth quite a few grand. Do you see where I am headed with this?" He asked, his head rising from his place of lay to analyze her reaction from the story, his expression falling at her bewilderment.

"Hm guess not. The main point being, why should I waste any money on you when my connections make you appear insignificant?"

Puffing on his cigar, his dark eyes analyzed the slight flicker of deadliness on her own.
