The evening was cool and the moon shone brightly, blessing the night with it light. However the moon's light could not be seen in the dark room where the only source of light was the fire crackling at the fire place. Maria opened her mouth unable to say a word.
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue." Rubin said as he walked slowly in her direction making her step back until she hit the wall. Rubin smirked, " Why are you so quiet. huh? Where did all your bravery run off to, human." She was trapped between Rubin and the wall. " So tell me, human. What is your name. I'd like to know my new meal's name." He lifted her black hair and inhaled it.
Maria was shocked that she actually spoke to the Duke's right hand man in such manner but she was not remorseful neither was she scared of her actions. Her eyes burned as she lifted it to look at the ruby eyes of the vampire, " I am not scared and I am certainly not your meal so I do not need to tell you my name." Rubin held her neck gently, "Is that so? What makes you think that."
Removing his hand, she moved towards him making him step back. " I am the Duchess attendant so you cannot drink from me. My services are only to the Duchess." Maria glared at him making him step back to take his dessert. "I'm done with you so you can leave." he ordered making her bow and leave.
Rage was the only thing that could seen in Rubin's eyes when Maria exited with a bang.
"Why all these flowers." Selena asked Maria who kept giggling. She woke up to see her room filled with a lot of flowers. She fell off her bed in shock when she saw that her room almost looked like a garden. "Mistress, the duke brought it as a present for making a wonderful appearance." Maria giggled making Selena turn her head and raise her eyebrows.
The flowers were put in a lot of vase and was placed in the room. After Maria left, Selena started to practice her magic in the room but after several failed attempts, she slumped on the floor feeling dejected. The memories of her previous life flashed across her eyes when she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Tears started to flow non stop when she remembered how her uncle sold her to different men to get money. The dark room that could tolerate the tears of the young girl chained to her bed. She remembered her escape and how she made her so called family pay for their wrong doings.
In her previous life, she was a prisoner to her family and her thirst for revenge. That prison kept her away from enjoying life and the little things it had to offer. Even now, she was a prisoner. She was a prisoner in her uncle's manor and a prisoner in the mansion.
She felt like she had been moved from an expensive cage to a more expensive one. Her misery is helping her uncle financially to enrich himself.
The thought of her problems enraged her to the core. She felt useless and pathetic. The rage fueled her persistence to practice her magic.
The air around her felt heavy and her vision was blurry. She rose up from the floor with her blue eyes glowing. She raised her hand at the flowers in her room. The pain she had to go through just made the air intensify. "
She chanted a spell, "Burn." Red mist started to fill the room in a linar form. All the flowers that it came in contact with burned instantly not leaving even ashes. She felt different like energy surgening through her veins.
She touched the dead flower and chanted, "Grow." Like the speed of lighting, all the flowers grew and bloomed, looking more beautiful than they were before.
"I did it." she cried as she jumped in joy.
Days flew by just like that and during that time, Selena was either in the library or in the garden practicing her magic. The mansion had been full with different races and nobles from other countries. She could clearly see the hate between the vampires and wolves. They always got into intense fights and destroy a lot of things.
Selena lay on the soft green grass gazing at the clouds that formed different shapes. She heard approaching footsteps and saw Henry walking towards her. She ignored him and gazed at the clouds again. "How are you fairing here?" she heard him ask as he sat down beside her.
He smiled when her silence replied him." You could have better than this if you just elope with me. I could give you all that you need." She stood up and turned to him," You have a wife who adores you. She treats you like her king. You are my cousin and I cannot have a relationship with you." He held her hand to stop her, when she turned to walk away. She yanked her hand and slapped him."Do not dare touch me again."
He could only smile as he rubbed his cheeks.
The man sitting on his throne rubbed his head as he kept thinking why had she not be found yet. It had been years and still that bitch was not found. The growl of the shadow monster brought him back to the present. " My Lord, someone is here to see you." it said gaining the man's attention. With a nod of approval the creature allowed the person in.
"What do you want?" he asked the person who was covered from head to toe. "I heard you were looking for her." the person said making the man stand and walked towards the person. "What to you know about her." he asked." More than you know. But I want something in return." she said as she revealed her blonde hair.
" You are human. What is a weak creature like you doing here. How did a human find her way to hell." he asked in disgust as he started chocking her. " I..could..b.be of.. help." she said as she struggled to breath. She chanted a spell that pushed him away. "Witch." he growled as two huge horns appeared on his head. Before he launch an attack she said, " I knew her before you did. I can find her. Do you think your shadow monsters can find someone as powerful as her. She will outsmart them." He stopped," What do you want in return, witch." he asked. " More power than any witch. I want to be more powerful than the emperor." she replied as her eyes lit up with greed.
"It is a deal. What's your name, witch." he said as he turned to her.
"Grezelda." she said as she shook hands with the man.
