Chapter 7 - Self-Assessment

As John approached his third birthday in this world, he couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration. Despite his best efforts, he had yet to find a way to use his skills from his previous life as an office worker in this new world.

He also tried to think of ways he could use his knowledge of modern technology to create new inventions, but without any engineering skills, he knew that most of his ideas would likely be useless.

He thought about all the different tools he could create, but as he sat there, sketching out his ideas in his mind, he realized that these inventions would likely be of no use to him in this world. The people here were already used to using basic tools and utensils, and there was no way for him to invent the kind of advanced technology with his abilities.

Sighing in defeat, John knew that he would just have to find a new way to use his skills and knowledge in this new world. He couldn't let his previous life go to waste, and he was determined to find a way to make a difference in this strange and magical place.

As John grew up he also absorbed knowledge over the world he now lived in. It seemed that the land in this world was teeming with danger, and the various races that lived there had learned to be ever vigilant in order to survive. There were fierce dragons and giant beasts that roamed the land, preying on anyone who crossed their paths. Dark forests were home to all manner of dangerous creatures, from venomous snakes to ferocious wolves and other magical beasts.

But perhaps the greatest threat came from otherworldly beings. There were demons that lurked in the shadows, waiting for a chance to corrupt and destroy. These evil entities were feared by all, for their power was great and their malice knew no bounds.

However, not all was lost in this world. There were those who wielded the power of magic, gifted to them by the gods themselves. Paladins, holy warriors of righteousness, were imbued with divine power that they used to smite their enemies and protect the innocent. Priests, too, held great power, able to heal the wounded and banish the demons back to the underworld with the power of their faith.

With the help of those people, the different races of this world were able to push back against the forces of darkness and continue to thrive. They fortified their castles, trained their armies, and developed their skills in order to protect themselves and their loved ones. Elves were known for their expert archery skills and magic, while dwarves were renowned for their craftsmanship in forging weapons and armor. Humans, too, played their part in defending their lands, forming knightly orders to protect their kingdoms.

In a world filled with danger at every turn, these races learned to live and thrive together, working towards a common goal of survival and protection against the demonic threat.

John comprehended all this and thought to himself, "Well, if I'm gonna survive in this place, I gotta put my knowledge to work. I mean, I've spent hours, days, months even, in these virtual worlds. I know how to fight, how to strategize, how to level up. I may not have real-life experience, but in the virtual world, I am a freakin' pro. So why can't I do the same here?"

John leaned back in his chair, "I mean, I may not have been born a paladin or a mage, but I know how to play one. That's gotta count for something, right? I'm like a human version of an AI, all programmed and ready to kick some demon butt."

He laughed to himself, "But, I can't just jump in the front lines and expect to survive, that's not how you win the game. No, I gotta study the classes, races and different cultures, learn their strengths and weaknesses, and figure out how to use that knowledge to my advantage."

John's eyes sparkled with excitement as he continued to talk to himself "I'll be like a master chess player, always thinking several moves ahead. And with my gaming knowledge, I'll be able to outsmart and outplay any enemy. It's gonna be like playing on easy mode! "

"Time to become the ultimate overpowered hero. Game on!"

Today John would celebrate his birthday with his family. He spent the whole day waiting for his father, Marcus, to come home from his hunting trip. Marcus had promised John that he would bring him a special birthday gift, a wooden sword. Finally he could practice something that helps survive in this world.

As the sun set, John could hear the sound of footsteps coming closer. He ran outside to see his father returning home, with a big smile on his face.

"Happy birthday, my son!" Marcus said proudly, as he handed John a wooden sword.

"Wow, thank you, Father!" John exclaimed, as he carefully examined the sword. "I will be a great warrior like you one day!"

John's mother, Helena, came out of the house to join in the celebration. "Come inside, dinner is ready," she said.

John and his family sat down to a hearty meal of roasted boar, vegetables, and bread. During dinner, John told his family about his dream of becoming a hero and saving the village from the dangers that lurked in the nearby forest. He didn't even need to change his behavior much since he could just outlive his childish site that he had suppressed in his old life.

"You will make a great hero one day, John," Helena said, smiling. "But first, you need to learn how to use that sword."

"Don't worry, Dear," Marcus said. "I will teach him everything I know. And in no time, he'll be just like me."

After dinner, John's sister, Isabella, came home from her job as a maid. She was so excited to see her little brother that she ran over to him and gave him a big hug. She was now 17 years old and had grown quite a bit in the past three years. She has a lean and toned figure, standing at around 5'5" with long brown hair that falls in soft waves around her shoulders. Her hair is usually tied back in a ponytail to keep it out of her face while she works.

Isabella's brown eyes are almond-shaped and are often described as warm and inviting. She has a small nose and full lips . Her skin is tanned from sometimes working outside, but it only adds to her natural beauty.

However, her work as a maid has left her with a few scars and calluses on her hands and feet. But it does not detract from her beauty at all.

This is also because the beauty of her is not just physical, but also in her kind heart and her warm personality. She is always ready to lend a helping hand and is well-liked by those around her. Despite the hardships she has faced, she has grown into a strong and independent woman who is determined to make a better life for herself and her family.

When she hugged her brother, John couldn't help but notice how much her breasts had grown. He was horrified, being hugged by Isabella brought back all those unpleasant memories.

It turns out that John has developed a bit of a strange phobia. It seems that he had a traumatic experience involving his mother's milk - we're not talking about any sort of weird Oedipus complex here. Apparently his mother thought she needed to force feed him a steady diet of her milk, like 5 times a day. Feeling like he had no control over his own life, being forced to consume milk in this way caused him emotional distress, making him feel humiliated and powerless.

"Isabella, you're suffocating me!" John exclaimed, trying to push her away. But she kept on until she eventually let go of her cute little brother.

"Happy birthday, brother." Isabella said, smiling completely ignorant to what she has caused to him.

John tried to smile but only after taking some huge breaths of air he could force himself to do that. "Thank you." He replied and tried to gain some distance between him and these tools of terror.

Luckily Isabella brought a surprise for John, a small cake made of honey and nuts. He definitely needed something sweet after this shock. With this she managed to win the favor of John again and also lifted his mood. What a scary woman she is.

"This is the best cake I've ever had, Isabella," John said after he devoured the cake.

The family continued to celebrate throughout the night, while his father shared his stories of his hunts again. As John went to bed that night, he couldn't help but feel grateful for his loving family and the special gift from his father. With this sword, he would be one step closer to becoming the hero he had always dreamed of.
