*Whoosh*
Instantly arriving in front of the Leirus, the enigmatic sphere seemingly came into contact with its skin.
A massive explosion like no other occurred once more, quickly enveloping the entirety of the Ruler of the Seas
Before that though, I saw the abyss domain recede, my domain's symbols retreated back onto my side.
*ROARRRR*
An ear piercing roar sounded, the blast was quickly dissipated by the roar, revealing the Ruler of the Seas in its shattered form.
Its domain enveloping its body, countless white cracks spread along the gargantuan size of the creature. A majestic being to behold even as it was as pitiful as it looked right now.
Slowly, it opened its mouth, a pitch black sphere came into existence. Sensing the danger, I try to interrupt it, but my attacks were futile.
'Can this thing not go down?' I genuinely asked myself that question.
Truly this creature is one of the most tenacious and stubborn even against the face of death. I could see that its organs were failing as its insides were falling out due to a massive wound right below its mid section.
'You've gotta hand it to this one, even if I die, its sure to come with me. So its putting its all in this one last attack.' I marveled at its insane will power.
Now that I took a closer look at it, only the head is intact, all its other parts are mostly dismembered or charred.
'But, I won't go down without a resistance, that would be too easy for you.'
Reinforcing my domain ability, the nullification one.
By supplying a large amount of Dominion energy to a specific ability, the user can temporarily exceed the limits of it. However, after running out of Dominion energy, the domain collapses and the user will be left in a state of vulnerability. This applies to not only empty domains, but those that are above it as well.
Preparing myself for the Leirus' last ditch attack, I supply as much dominion energy to the nullification ability as possible without prematurely collapsing my domain.
Space warped around the pitch black sphere as I could already feel its energy being disintegrated and scattered around the place.
As the Ruler of the Seas saw this, it decided to release the most devastating attack along with it.
Its already shattered and broken body shriveled up, resembling little twigs fallen down from old trees.
Massive pitch black tidal waves appeared behind it, though it was being nullified, the force behind it would no doubt reach me and kill me if I don't interfere.
One can only imagine how desperate the leviathan was at this moment. Betting its all into this attack, it let out the abyssal sphere.
A old and aged voice sounded out.
"Oh..... Arsila, it seems like..... I'll be joining you today...."
Strained to the point of being painful with every word it let out, it still continued, as if making peace with itself.
"I couldn't be more happy at this very... moment."
It had an inkling of a smile as it breathed its last right at this moment.
Opposite to me who had massive frown, but the moment I heard that voice, all the indignance, rage and hatred I had towards it went away.
'I guess you were only my opponent... not my enemy. May you find peace..... old one.'
A sense of pity and regret was fostered within my heart, knowing that I had some fault in this convoluted mess.
Discarding those thoughts, I focused on surviving at this moment. The abyssal tidal wave impacted the rune barrier while the sphere was slowly moving forward.
The rune barrier received a few barely visible cracks that were slowly spreading as it kept in contact with the abyssal water.
I likened it to corrosive substances.
In a slow but steady process, my nullification ability was slowly evaporating the abyssal water into nothingness.
Deterred by nothing, the black sphere kept moving forwards.
My heart grew heavier and worry started to become evident, fearing that this attack would destroy the rune barrier.
*Tick* *Crash*
When it made contact with the barrier, it immediately burst, breaking its impediments. Allowing the blast to expand towards me.
Another line of runes emerged in front of me and endured the impact, large visible cracks appeared on its surface quickly spreading to its entirety.
*Crack* *Crack* *Crack*
Every second felt agonizing to me, entirely relying on my domain abilities to weather through this danger. Thinking that this wouldn't last long enough for me to survive.
A sigh of relief escaped my mouth as I saw the blast fade out of existence. My domain also began to collapse.
*Crack* *Clink*
Solid shards of dominion energy hit the sea bed, the hundred kilometer radius around me were still being filled up with water.
[View gained titles?]
'Maybe later when I'm mentally stable.'
I dismissed the panel and laid on the sea bed, feeling like I was drained of all my energy. Drifting off to sleep, I wondered.
What would've happened if I wasn't so impulsive? Would nearly hundreds of thousands of peaceful fishes not died and had their homes destroyed?
Was it all my fault?.... I hope no one blames me, I am..... after all..... just a..... kid.
And with that, I fell asleep on the ocean floor, not minding the discomfort of it all. Just feeling way too exhausted from fighting for hours on end.
A peaceful expression finally graced my complexion, after always having negative emotions for almost the entirety of the day. I finally could relax myself and let go of my worries for now without being in danger.
..............
Water neared Alto but didn't make contact with him, giving him some much needed space to rest.
Countless species of sea creatures gathered around this mysterious boy who was sleeping in the middle of the ocean floor.
Nearly a day later, Alto stirred awake, feeling disoriented yet fresh after a long needed rest for his body.
Looking around, he scared off most of the fishes and the ones that didn't swim away, merely stared at him in curiosity before heading off themselves.
.......
"Mmmmm, how nice." I said to myself
The events of yesterday immediately came into mind, I felt relief after such a close to death encounter with the Ruler of the Seas.
Yet ultimately saddened by its death as it seemed like it was just an old person waiting for their death.
'Well, none of us can blame each other for wanting to survive right? If I wasn't lucky, I would've been the one who is dead.'
With such solemn thoughts, I discarded any guilt of taking away the old leviathan's life.
'I can only reassure myself that you would have done the same.'
'Perhaps, had our circumstances differed, we would have just been normal acquaintances.'
'If only... if only'
I floated up to the sky, I felt the sun's light after what felt like a century.
Feeling liberated and free at this moment, I do not know what the future will be, but I'll be sure to enjoy the moment.
'Yeah, life is something precious, everyone should treasure it if possible.'
'I'll remember you, Ruler of the Seas sir.'
[Ad Aeternam Memoriam]
[It means, to "Your Eternal Memory"]
[I have made sure to record the "Ruler of the Seas" into a memory file]
[Making him, unforgotten]
'You sure have your ways, system, thanks.'
"I wonder what I would be without you." I asked with a sentimental tone
To which the system didn't answer.
"Hehe, you never change huh?" A cute giggle escaped my mouth as the sad atmosphere dissipated.
[Never will]
