Chapter 35 - Ch. 35 Cricket's Parade

After the moment of silence for those we lost upon the edge of that cliff I couldn't help but marvel upon the long line of hopping critters... I expected a large number of giant crickets that would attack me... But nope... Countless regular crickets... Sailing to the islands edge and pulling my boat ashore I take my first step upon the island and... Immediately squash a bunch of crickets... Welp... They are everywhere... Seeing as even the crickets next to my foot don't seem to care I move on with my life and start looking for a tortoise or a snake. Starting with the beach I begin to circle the entire island in search of a tortoise... After hours and hours of squashing crickets I successfully find tracks... Looking towards the large glass boat... I know I've truly found a large beast to hunt I doubt I can truly bring this beastie down... I best look further inland. As such I started by looking for a water source in this swarm infested island venturing my way towards the center of the island. Some hour of travel later I tripped over a rock that seemed to pop out of no where... Ghost rock!!! Nah... Turtle... Is it perhaps teenage or mutant? Cause this dude is a ninja... Walking up to the dizzy looking disgruntled turtle I can't help but wonder what the difference between a turtle and a tortoise is... I'd guess just the fact it's a land dweller? Does that mean... Wait... I can't remember a single water scene of those turtles swimming... Maybe it was secretly young stealth transgender tortoises all along...

<- I do these bits but then I remember it's meant to be like 2000-3000 years in the future or something and now I can't help but wonder... Would these super popular things from now be remembered then? Or lost in that grand ol' river of time? Why no future science you say? Cause we in the game... Also space etc and the like would become less prominent given the sedimentary life style of humans and the lack of of need. ->

Looking at the cute little tortoise and lack of any real defense as it seems to ignore me and munch on some crickets lazily forgetting about me instantly... Ah cute fuddy duddy glutton... laughing to myself I grab it's leg and it starts yoinking it about trying to free itself from it's capturer but steal lazily eating crickets nodding to myself I gently nick it's leg and collect the necessary blood... Which causes it's struggle to get harder and it's need for food to rise... these quest objectives may have been decided by the animals willingness to allow you to drain it's blood... after filling the vial I move on to search for a lost snake... But after hours of searching find nothing... Eventually I decide to head back to my boat. I know it's on this island... I just need to wait in one place for awhile I guess... Seeing as it's wandering searching for it may be the least likely way to find it... On my way back I see the tortoise again which lazily eyeballs me and speedily begins munching of crickets... I think it's afraid I'ma take more blood... Don't worry guy... Hours later I find my boat then crawl up inside and take a seat... Looking next to me I get confused... I don't remember putting a rope there... Then the rope moves and it's eye glue to me confused... Oh... Fuck you... Seriously I just had to return to the boat? What a dick move... Sighing to myself I move extremely slowly and grasp the back of the curious snakes head... A couple minutes later... it squirms in protest but gives up rather quickly... Such cute animals. After gathering the snake up I bring it back out to the island before nicking it and filling the vial due to my hold on it's head cause of my concern about poisons it's not exactly munching like the other three but it's tail is lashing about pretty madly. With one more vial of blood in my inventory I climb into the boat... Of course only after tossing the wandering snake a good twenty feet inland... Then I lock the hatch entirely and shift towards the way I came looking to leave this poison hell hole... It's been great training for my healing skills... Did I mention due to the fog I've been forced to continuously heal myself? I don't think I did... Eh whatever... It takes a week of traveling through the fog to find land again... At which point I realize how lucky I was to find the island so quickly before... Sighing I remove the manhole of my boat and start filling it with water whilst it's on itside... after filling it halfway I push it over and force it towards the sea. Seeing my vessel slowly sink into the brinny depths I sing it a song... I don't know any songs related to sinking a ship so I move on with my day... Ha... Onward towards mystery and wonder!!! Venturing out wards it takes me another two days of traveling to find the exit to this underground nature reserve I could probably go from one side to the other of this place in that time but it's a jungle and I got lost a couple times... Then I realized it was the wrong direction when I met the amazon tribe... I guess they are just gonna die out? Maybe the children are hidden away somewhere and some of them boys gonna get themself a harem of aunties... Ah lucky... The main priest lady had clothes on this time... Which is surprising for me... I figured she'd just be caked in blood some more... also... what's up with the fact these lady is just wearing a shirt and pants... All the other chicks still in tribal paint and loinclothes and you looking like you just popped out of a gap... No shoes and blood still in her hair but it's weird none the less... Ignoring the tribeswomen and their weird clothes situation I remember the task at hand... Opening the door... It was quite the difficult problem at first... As the door is stone and seems to not want to budge no matter what but... I realized... It's not a door... Sigh the vampires just carved a giant door shape out of stone... The hole about Midway up is the entrance... What a dick move... I mean I know they can turn into bats but still... Thus I climbed up and squeezed my fat ass into the batcave... after a large period of time involving crawling I come out the other side into a very dark wide cavern... looking around and seeing only darkness I expect the jump scare... Sighing to myself I gather a ball of light magic in my hand and brace myself... Looking up I see a large group of sleeping fury critters... ah that's what I expected... Looking around the cavern I see that it goes inward but... I stop unsure of myself... vampire killing or skipping... Sighing I decide to wake the beasts I don't feel like fighting an entire swarm the moment I find the boss... so I give up my covert options by using the whole ball of mana trick again but with air mana this time causing a strong gust of wind to knock a bunch of bats to the ground causing them to shreak in panic while desperately struggling to right themselves at which point they were low enough for me to start killing them... As for the ones my wind didn't reach or wasn't strong enough to knock down due to the others near them... Well they woke up now... As such the long battle begun... It wasn't for a couple hours that the flood of bats from both the ceiling and from deeper in the cave finally stopped... As such I began to move again searching every nook and cranny of the caves before find a door... yep stone bat cave to wooden door... opening it I find a room...
