Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

CHAPTER 1

There has never been a day that Sanee hated except yesterday. There has never been anything impossible in Sanee's life except what happened yesterday. There has never been anything that made her feel like dying except what she saw with her own eyes yesterday.

It was precisely at midnight when she was supposed to go to sleep and then wake up the next day for class, but at that moment, Sanee realized her life would never be the same again.

Maybe she just realized. Perhaps it's Sanee who just learned that her life has changed.

Since her father passed away, Sanee thought life with her mother would be exemplary. She thought everything would be easy to live with. But as it turns out, all of that was just Sanee's assumption. Because, in reality, everything has changed, especially the only parents she has.

Especially with her mother, who has now changed and managed to make Sanee unable to sleep all night. Finally, this morning, Sanee couldn't cover up the drowsiness that attacked her.

She should have attended the lecture enthusiastically, but now Sanee was drowsing heavily. Her eyes were hard to open and so sore. She decided to close her eyes. Enjoying the tranquility of her sleep even though the noises in the classroom should be distracting.

But Sanee couldn't compromise her eyes because she was so sleepy this time. She was curious to know if the material from this class would even make it into her brain because it was clear that she wouldn't be able to focus when sleeping like this. Sanee again leaned her head against the table, trying to find the most comfortable sleeping position. Even though she really wanted to put her whole body on the bed.

She had never been like this before. People who knew her knew that Sanee was a very diligent student in the class. Always doing her assignments on time. Getting good grades. Lastly, she was never absent, so Sanee still went to class despite being very sleepy.

Sanee didn't care if people were shouting in the classroom either. It was her dreams that screamed louder to force Sanee to sleep. Maybe people would see her as a living corpse. It was also possible that Sanee's eyes were like Panda's. She didn't check, but Sanee suspected that it was all true.

She was messed up at this moment. She was really not okay.

But there was a loud banging sound right on Sanee's desk. Sanee was stunned with shock. She tried to gather herself and see who had just disturbed her sleep.

But this time, she saw a boy smiling proudly at her. It was as if the guy didn't feel guilty and was so happy that he managed to annoy Sanee. Her eyes tried to focus, and stared angrily at him. Sanee clenched her fists tightly, wanting to punch the boy in front of her with all her might if she didn't remember that she was in class. People could see her hitting the boy in front of her, and they would think that Sanee had just committed an act of violence.

Sanee could only get angry. "FUCK YOU! Don't you have anything to do but bother me?! Don't you have anything to do that you must bang on my desk?!"

No matter how angry Sanee was. No matter how loud she screamed. The boy smiled slightly at the sight of Sanee's temper right now. "Sanee... Sanee... are you angry just like that? I'm just doing something to keep you from cheating. There's a quiz today, did you forget? You said you wouldn't study for the quiz this time. But now? You're sleeping. I suspect you studied last night. I suspect that you're actually cheating, right? You forgot what we promised? No one can study for the quiz this time. I'm not cheating, but I'm sure you are... cheating."

"ENOUGH!" Sanee felt the annoyance of having her sleep interrupted by such an ignorant jerk. She clenched her hands even tighter. "Whether I sleep or not. Even if I want to roll around in the middle of the field. It's none of your business and has nothing to do with whether I study. But if you want to know, Mr. Smartass, I didn't study last night!"

Sanee didn't care if her loud voice attracted the attention of her classmates. The most important thing now was to make this boy named Genio, Mr. Smartass, realize his words were wrong. In fact, last night, she didn't even study at all. Sanee would bet and swear that she was too stressed to read a book. She couldn't possibly learn in such a chaotic state of mind.

Until this morning, Sanee hadn't even been able to forget what had happened yesterday. She was even still confused about her own destiny. It was hard to think about a quiz when life's problems were harder to deal with.

"Then I'll believe it?" Genio proudly folded his arms in front of his chest. "Definitely not, Sanee. You're sneaky. You could have dealt with our agreement yesterday, but you could also end up cheating because you didn't want to lose to me. No one can study for this quiz, and now I'll make sure you don't cheat!"

"I DIDN'T STUDY LAST NIGHT, YOU ASSHOLE!"

Genio shook his head. "Go ahead. I won't believe you if you shout in the middle of the field. An arrogant girl like you must have a thousand ways to make me believe that you don't study. But you got a good score on the test."

"DAMN YOU!"

Sanee's shout echoed again. She tightly clenched her hands again but hid them at her sides. Sanee would have ensured that the boy in front of her had a battered face if she wasn't on campus.

"Mr. Smartass, you're now a complete package for being a human asshole!" Sanee continued. "I don't want you to believe me a thousand times because I didn't study last night! And my sleep now also has nothing to do with me cheating. I have my own way of winning the bet with you. And I'm not sneaky at all."

"Okay, take my word." Genio raised his eyebrows, confused. "If you weren't studying, why were you sleeping? Why are you losing your life so early in the morning?"

Sanee was silent. Every word she wanted to say in response seemed to be held back. Because once she said it, there would be other problems that might exacerbate the previous situation.

"You can't answer, right? Claiming that you were studying last night, Sanee. You're afraid of losing to me. Are you afraid of punishment?"

Although Genio continued to provoke and blame Sanee for falling asleep earlier. But Sanee couldn't answer anything. There was no answer that Sanee could give.

There was nothing that Sanee could say.
