Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

The speed of events shocked me and I tended to aid him, but I saw a man next to me.

It was Mateo.

"What are you doing here?" He said to me with a much colder tone.

He didn't let me answer anymore and pulled me out of the bar. I didn't struggle and let him take me where he would take me. When I noticed in his car, I withdrew my hand.

"Mateo, stop you're hurting me!" I said pulling my wrist away from him.

"What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you? You can drink, but at home and if you're outside, tell me." He said and I felt his anger, but I didn't answer him.

I just kept quiet and waited for him to calm down.

"What are you upset about? We agreed that we'd respect our personal space. " I told him calmly, but my voice was shaking.

"Yes, we agreed on that, but we didn't agree that you should talk to some man, and you're closing your eyes when he was approaching you."

"Lucas is just a friend of mine way back in college."

"First name basis, huh?" He said to me and leaned on his car.

Even in the dark of night, you can see his sharp jaw, angry eyes, and inviting lips, but I was bored with what he said and then I exploded.

"I respected your privacy, with your babe. So please respect mine and just let me be."

"You, you called while I was away, right?" He said to me as he held both my arms.

"Yes," I said sparingly to him.

"I can explain, Chantal." He told me.

"No, it's okay. You don't have to. Why did you agree to this setup anyway? Especially you have a girlfriend?"

"How did you know?"

I cut him off by saying, "It doesn't matter how I know, and it's none of your business right now. I don't want to talk to you. Please let me be!"

"So you left the villa and you didn't use your car to get here?"

I just looked at him, emotionless.

"I went home to the villa you weren't there. The maids were by the pool and you—"

I cut what he has to say because I couldn't take this anymore.

"Can you leave me, Mateo? I don't care what else you can do for me this is just a contract. Let's just act like lovers when our parents are around."

After I told him, leaving him stunned, that I couldn't get rid of my mind because I'd ruined their relationship and I'm still with him, I deviated everything from my mind and got into my mom's car.

I didn't look to see if he was still following me or not. I just turned on my car and drove back to our house. I didn't even tell Jurelle and Joanna that I had left.

I speeded up my drive and Denise opened the gate for me, and I went straight to the main door when I heard the gate open again, and I knew it was Mateo.

I didn't look at him anymore.

After I opened the door, I was surprised to find my parents in the living room.

"Mom, Dad, I can explain!"

I couldn't finish what I said when my dad's palm suddenly landed on my face.

"How could you do something like this?! You are already married, but you still managed to go to a place like that."

I still held my face and just looked at Dad while tears were already dripping down my cheeks.

I also felt the caress that Mateo gave me that I didn't pay attention to.

"Just calm down, Sir," Mateo said, holding my arm.

"I'm just disciplining my daughter. She's already married, but that's how she acts. She didn't even say anything to us. If you didn't come here, how would we know what she's been doing." He shouted and my mom looking down caressed his arm.

I just quietly cried.

"Is this how you see me?"

"Like I'm some sort of puppet that you can play all along and toss around when you don't need? " I said between my sobs

"Watch your mouth, Chantal!" Mom says as if she was worried.

Dad would have slapped me with his palm again, but it didn't hit me; it was from Mateo's face.

My father was shocked by the incident, but Mateo bowed and guided me out.

"She was there because she was stressed. Have a good night, Sir."

After that Mateo didn't turn around again. He opened the door for me and I went along calmly. He didn't speak either.

While we were traveling, I lowered the window and I did nothing but sob and sob. Mateo didn't bother me either and he just drove and handed me his handkerchief, but I didn't bother to wipe my tears off and just held onto this piece of cloth and cried.

When we got into the mansion, I didn't look at him. He opened the door for me and I went out.

Mateo supported me until we could get to our room, and left me for a while. Mateo got back, he had with him a towel and cold water and he sat me on the bed.

"Edna told me that you allowed them to party, and I told them to put it down right away and as early as possible. Don't spoil our maids too much," he said as wiped my arms and wiped my face carefully to relieve the heat from the cocktail.

I did not speak and I looked away from him.

"So, are you gonna put me here again just so you can leave something and come back when it's convenient for you?" I asked him without expression.

"Don't worry, I'm staying here for good. After all, this is our house now." Mateo said and I just let him lay me on the bed and cover me.

"We'll talk later about the issue you mentioned earlier. I still have a day left before going to work again."

"I'm sorry," I said while crying and caressing his slapped face.

"That's fine." He said while caressing my face wet with tears, "Rest for today." Mateo says and kissed my forehead then tucked me into my blanket.

He was about to leave me when I moved the blanket and tapped the part of the space, telling him through gestures that he should sleep by my side.

"Are you sure it's okay?" He asks, and I nod in agreement.

"Is it okay if I hug you?" I said feeling drained and empty.

"Would that relieve you?" He asked me with a worried gaze.

I nodded my head and pulled him into a hug.

Mateo didn't struggle, he just caressed my back and that was one of the most peaceful nights of sleep I ever had.
