Chapter 1 - The abandoned girl

The truth is curious in many aspects, life is wrapped in mysteries and death embroiders them with its hands in the dance that we can call "life".

I think I am a lucky person, J and D have been helping me unconditionally in every step I take on these paths and that is why I dedicate this book entirely to them, because they have never abandoned me and always gave me inspiration, the right words and support, even though many times I did not even deserve it. They always forgave me for my mistakes and continued to help me, so these words are for you, who have never left my side.

I also thank my good friend Marlon, who was also helping me when I felt lost in these labyrinths that I have created for you.

Words are not enough to express my gratitude and the word "thank you" falls short of all the things you have done for me throughout this journey, so I dedicate this book to you from the bottom of my heart.

Part 1

The mystery of the fairy

Fiftieth Golden Cycle.

Each cycle has twenty billion years. This according to the God of Everything or "Zero", who established it in the crystal court, after the first war between the universes, where, to his bad luck he lost against the other supreme gods.

The universe, so great and vast, so beautiful and incomparable, guardian of the greatest mysteries and the most unimaginable, unattainable beauties, which are beyond the mind and have not yet risen to human thought, since trying to solve or understand them could unhinge anyone. The mysterious, the magnificent, the one that holds the most countless riches because they are practically infinite.

--I am afraid, my wings hurt, they are on fire.

--Calm down, I am at your side, mine also hurt.

In the universe there are two types of beings, the Viltris, whose purpose is to build everything there is, from planets to the billions of species that exist in each one of them; the great stars that share their light in the darkness of the cosmos, to the constellations and shooting stars that wander through it.

--I want to stay by your side, I am glad to have always lived in your company.

--I also like to be with you, I will always love you.

There are also the Hilents, whose purpose is to annihilate everything that is no longer necessary, they use any method and have many strategies up their sleeves, from black holes to immense explosions.

--You know, now that we are like this... nothing matters to me, it's like... as if time didn't exist.

--I feel the same way, I would have preferred to be condemned and suffer for all eternity, than to have never met you.

The land of Faernes was built by two creators, they provided two energies that would maintain balance and peace.

--You know, now that I see it, space is not as cold and dark as I always saw it.

--Calm down, don't worry or be sad, just... let's keep dancing until we can't anymore.

This planet had something of distinction, since in the bosom of its earth they placed the source of the energy of the gods reduced for the understanding of lower minded beings and it was called Aura. Fairies, humans, magical and non-magical creatures lived in complete peace.

The creators of the earth left it. Their light became part of the infinite universe, they became part of the thousands of trillions of stars that adorn the cosmos, but... not everything was gone, because before leaving their creation they entrusted three spirits to take care and watch over the peace of the land of Faernes. Many centuries passed since the three spirits were born...

The trees spread their tops over the sun, branching their green leaves over the light that made theirs to pass to the earth, making that place let see those beams of light that were interwoven throughout the silent place like spider webs in caves.

The silence relaxed Aurora, the tranquility of the place was overwhelming and for her that came to fall like a ring to her finger as she enjoyed the shadows and lying in that tree awakened in her a passive feeling that remained in her personality. Her hair that changed to pastel shades illuminated the shadow of the tree and her two wings that changed in the same colors covered her, making her feathers fall to the ground.

In the silence she began to hear footsteps breaking and rustling the branches that were dragged by the chirping of the wind, which sang as it dragged and snatched the weakest leaves like a vulture. Aurora observed carefully and could see a hooded woman, her breasts were raised among her clothes and she walked with confidence.

Venus removed those clothes and let her four wings rise and majestically spread their black and white feathers over the ground, bathing with their shadow some coral flowers that were born among the roots of the trees.

--So... How did it go? --He crossed his legs slightly and observed Venus from the shadow located in the heights of that tree.

--I guess well, she has a home and will be well cared for.

--I'm glad, at least we were able to fulfill her last wish.

--That comforts me..." He observed his sister with more tranquility. Venus.

--Yes? --The sadness was mixed in her voice, it was somewhat depressing.

--I understand that you are sad, so am I, but... ... we knew the consequences and she more than anyone else.

Venus lowered her gaze to the grass.

--Did you find Alba?

--No, I looked everywhere, she's neither in the skies nor in the seas, the mermaids haven't seen her, and even less the fairies, besides... I don't think she's in the lands of light.

--Shall I help you look for her? --The tenderness was in those words.

--No, it is not necessary.

--She is also very much affected, very much, since she was the closest.

The words came out with a tone of sadness that carried his own thoughts that... were still in his memory.

--Well, I think our work is done, we must return to our labors.

--Venus.

--What's the matter Aurora?

-- Did you manage to settle that matter?

Venus contemplated in silence the trees and the passivity of that place, some birds played among the branches and their plumage shone when they passed through the beams of light.

--She is better, though it was not my business.

--I know you have a big heart, and I know she arrived safely.

--I just hope I didn't make a mistake.

--Well, I'll go back to my work, I have to give color to the skies... Venus... take care of yourself.

--Same to you Aurora... take care, we'll see each other again.

As Venus retreated to the spirit world, a thought crossed her mind that shattered her thoughts as easily as glass shatters with a pestle, leaving the shards of her doubts to scatter across the floor.

--It had better work... otherwise, if what happened thirteen hundred years ago happens, I don't think this land will be saved, I hope... ... that everything turns out well, because if we die... this land will be doomed.

Aurora withdrew to patrol the skies that were clothed in fluffy clouds that were stained with orange tones when the sun said goodbye to the beautiful lands. It seemed that everything was over, the nightmare in which the lands of Faernes had plunged many years ago had come to an end, the shadows that burdened in the past, became passing memories carried away by the wind, the trees no longer had a discontent and the noxious and disturbing image of the hundreds of corpses that were scattered throughout the land of Faernes, became only a cloudy memory of which no one wanted to remember again.

As Aurora rode through the skies on her cloud, she remembered all the beautiful moments she shared with her sisters, she remembered how they loved to play the game of kings and spend hours making stratagems to get the king and win the games... unfortunately... she was no longer there.

--At least I can have the consolation of being able to see the skies of the cosmos, though it's not fair..." She watched the skies as she curled up on her cloud. Why are the magics so bad?

As she ascended higher, she could see the starry sky, but unfortunately, that new sky could not be explored since her magic kept her bound to the planet as if it were a chain. She observed the constellations and the colors of the universe, its beauty was something that always kept her in love and she wanted to explore and know everything that that mysterious place hid for her in plain sight.

She flew a little and reached the floating island where she used to live, passed it from afar and went quickly to the temple where the sacred weapon she was born with was located. As she entered, she knocked on the gigantic door that had celestial engravings on it, whispered in the language of the gods and the god's engraving opened its hands. The door lurched and swung open with a loud clang, letting in the sun that hit the floors and bounced throughout the central room. She stepped smoothly into the central chamber, it was huge and this had a gigantic dome that spun the entire mechanism by which the temple worked, she observed the immense gears and then retained her gaze on the legion of cherubim. The temple was so huge that it made her look like a newborn mouse, but it was also very majestic and was suspended in the heavens so that no mortal could reach it of their own free will.

She moved and approached one of the cherubs. This one, like the others, was in one of the gravity gears that kept him bound and made it impossible for him to fly. He ran one of his fingers over the angelic figure's face.

--I think that not using them for years filled them with dust, if it were not for the machinery that keeps this place moving, the temple would undoubtedly be a disaster, although I owe much of it to the sun and the moons.

She turned his gaze again to the cherub who was completely chained on the floor. The other cherubim were suspended in those little gravity platforms and the room was gigantic, an army of two hundred thousand soldiers could easily enter the room and even more would be needed to fill it completely.

Aurora went down to the ground and approached the cherub, her wings were chained as well as her neck. With her hand she caressed his face.

--This place is undoubtedly majestic, you and your beauty are the jewel of this temple, your power of destruction is incredible, but, even so, you are useless to me, I am not able to control you all perfectly, you have been kept so long. I would activate them again, but, they are not of much use, maybe in the future I will do it again, when I need their help again, or when I get tired of patrolling the skies and refuse to use this cursed magic.

Aurora left the huge room and prepared to enter the library, the golden books glittered among the shelves, but Aurora, after meditating closed the door. She continued walking and arrived at a gigantic door with engravings of the language of the spirits.

--Lehirus trael.

She whispered and the young girl, who was a picture of her engraved on the door, began to sing.

--Iluintrae ed faer no extraustir dae mo.

The drawing held out its hands and the engravings on the doorway flared as did the charcoal, causing the doorway to open slowly. There, in that room, was where Aurora kept all the secrets that were denied to the children of the earth, not for nothing was she the guardian of the heavens.

--She exclaimed as she scratched her head, then let out a yawn and settled back into her cloud again. Again.

As she sorted through the scrolls of heaven, Aurora wondered how they would raise the child, no doubt the thought had left her with honey on her lips.

As she sorted through the manuscripts she found a very curious one, one in which there were ancient engravings from many centuries ago, long before the first great witch existed. She opened the parchment and the golden paper showed for her drawings and writings in the dead language of the spirits, in it there were several drawings: one was of a sun, another of a moon, another of two wings and the last of a tree.

--It had been centuries since I had seen this parchment... ... White magic of the sun, of the moon, of the sky and of the earth. No doubt magics to which her study was a good investment, I wonder what kind that dwarf will develop? Though I don't know if a human can use magic without dying brutally, none of her race has managed it.

She gave a long yawn and continued lazily sorting through the scrolls. There he found all sorts of things, even the forbidden chants of the spiritual heavens, those that are occupied in order to perform the Fairy Dance. Gently she opened it and looked at the letters and the engravings of the fairies themselves; they had written that long before Aurora and her sisters were born.

--A wish...

She read the words of the song that was in ancient Feeric. As she did so, she heard a girl's whisper and the wind began to sing, shivers ran through her body and the silence became a tomb, for she was beginning to feel death close to her. She quickly closed the parchment, frightened, placing it on the highest shelf. To her misfortune and her own stupidity, she had not placed it very carefully and the manuscript slipped because it was misplaced among the others. It fell on her head and caused a hollow sound, bouncing off and causing Aurora to crash into the shelf where she had the other scrolls.

--Damn it!

Everything instantly wobbled and collapsed like a house of cards, the scrolls crashed to the floor and left her buried, hitting her in the head more than ten times, only her locks sticking out and wagging like a dog's tail.

She shakily raised her arm as the shelf fell on top of her and hit the mountain of scrolls, the hollow sound of her head was amusing, though the pain it generated only produced hatred.

She stepped out so she could catch her breath and many scrolls rolled to the floor, leaving only Aurora's head sticking out among them all.

--It can't be that I have to start from scratch! --Her childish tone echoed throughout the temple.

... ...

In the upper lands, Elder Celgris had a problem, how the hell was he supposed to keep a hyperactive girl in a place like the one he lived in?

She had been abandoned, her mother didn't want her and he didn't know why, the little girl looked healthy and there seemed to be nothing wrong with her. The little girl watched him with extreme curiosity and he, who had never been a father, did not know what to do, so he started to think. He took her as if he had been doing it all his life and sat down with her, the little girl was on his lap and kept looking at him with intense curiosity, letting her ermine-colored eyes penetrate him.

--What can I do with this nameless child?

The old man scratched his beard and began to think, trying to foresee the future of the creature.

--Well, I think that at your age you already handle the language well, so I think I know who can be of help to you and who can raise you well, not that I can not small, but you must understand that I am someone very busy and I do not have the time to go around fixing the disasters that you can give me. I also know that you are not to blame. Don't worry, we will see each other again and I hope you can remember me, if your childhood amnesia doesn't erase those moments.

The girl took his beard and began to play with it, pulling it as if it were an elastic.

The old man got up and carried the child in his arms to where he knew she would be well cared for.

--Remember child... no one is born without a reason in this world.

He looked at the mark the little girl possessed. He noticed that her destiny was already marked. His heart ached and it pained him deeply he observed that the child's innocence prevented him from showing her where the legacy of her mark came from.

--But it hurts me so much, it hurts me... to see what the future holds for you.

He looked at her better.

-But first I think you need a name... What can I call you? The woman didn't even tell me what your name was.

He scratched his beard, walked in circles as he tried to come up with a good name.

-How about Calai?

The girl watched silently as he waited for a reaction.

-It's a very nice name and quite elegant. It plays in tune with this country.

The little girl just blinked as she laughed at the old man's disheveled appearance.

...

Among the snowstorm was a white-haired girl with a rabbit mask who had watched the scene, her white flaming wings burning the white flakes that tried to touch her. She, deep in her soul felt relieved, but at the same time worried, as she feared for the girl's mental sanity and what her future held, she hoped Celgris could find a way to protect her for as long as possible. Besides, she knew what her best friend's sanity was like before she sealed her soul and died among those birch trees that shadowed her until her light was extinguished.

-- At some point there will be space for us to talk, until then... we will not see each other again. Celestia...
