Chapter 13 - I'm Best at Flattering the Elderly

After the waiter left, the confusion on Chu Yunxuan's face became even more apparent as she blinked her eyes, lined with blue eyeliner, intensely at Wen Xin.

"I'm getting a bit muddled here. Is there someone you know in this restaurant? Since you know them, why don't they come out to meet you if they're sending such expensive gifts?"

As she spoke, Chu Yunxuan's gaze fell upon the blood swallow's nest in front of Wen Xin, and she couldn't help but click her tongue twice, "This single serving of blood swallow's nest is worth ten tables of this kind of dish!"

"You've already met him just now…" Wen Xin picked up the soup spoon on her plate and slowly sipped the blood swallow's nest, the fierceness in her brows and eyes seemed to fade a bit.

Wen Xin's voice was not loud, but Chu Yunxuan heard her loud and clear. She couldn't quite catch up; how did Wen Xin come to know Mu Chengxi? What on earth was going on?

The atmosphere in the private room was incredibly oppressive. No one dared to speak throughout the meal, not even Wei Shisheng, who was usually chirpy all day long.

"Seventh Master, when are you planning to return to Beijing? I'll go book the flight!" Liang Luoyu mustered up the courage to look at the man methodically cutting his steak. He truly feared that a misstep in his words would result in the knife and fork in the man's hand flying toward him.

"Let's say this evening. Go get in touch with that divine doctor later and prepare some desserts; Old Madam Zhao said that the divine doctor has a sweet tooth."

The icy aura around them softened a bit, and Liang Luoyu quietly heaved a sigh of relief, immediately responding, "Don't worry, I will handle this matter perfectly. I best understand what the elderly like to eat, and I guarantee the divine doctor will be satisfied!"

Liang Luoyu confidently patted his own chest, believing that there was no one in Beijing who could cater to the preferences of the elderly better than he—he was a professional at this.

After putting down his knife and fork, Mu Chengxi picked up a napkin from beside him and gently wiped his lips before turning his head to look at Wei Shisheng, who had been silent since entering the private room.

"Recently, the Mu family is facing a period of many problems. Don't keep running to my grandmother's yard when it's none of your business."

Mu Chengxi's voice was deep, with a hint of a warning. He was fully aware of Wei Shisheng's thoughts; however, no one could influence his decision, not even Old Madam.

With the blood swallow's nest finished, Wen Xin leaned back lazily, her posture relaxed as she reclined against the back of the chair. Her slender fingers gently slid across the screen of her phone, directing the character in the game to wander without aim.

In this game, Wen Xin had chosen a support character, closely following behind the marksman, always managing to escape in the nick of time.

"Xin girl, you're really awesome. When I play games with you, I never worry about dying!"

Through the phone came an extremely gentle voice, soft and mellow as if from the heavens, airy as though it came from a valley, almost like the murmur of a stream flowing into one's heart.

"You just play, leave the rest to me!"

An indulgent, soft voice spilled from Wen Xin's red lips. At this moment, a faint smile adorned her face, revealing a trace of affectionate indulgence in her eyes unintentionally.

Chu Yunxuan glanced at the gaming interface in Wen Xin's hand and snapped her fingers at the waiter, who quickly came over.

"Check, please!"

After taking the bill from Chu Yunxuan, the waiter smiled very politely, "Good evening, miss. Your bill has already been covered by a gentleman."

Just then, a victory sound came from Wen Xin's phone. Exiting the game, she picked up her backpack beside her, stood up, and said in a low voice, "Let's go."

After taking a few steps, Wen Xin looked back towards the direction of the private room, her bright eyes narrowing slightly. The wild and unrestrained essence at the bottom of her eyes was unmistakable.
