Two people are sitting and drinking coffee outside under an umbrella in the middle of downtown, listening to the cars, trucks, and people zooming on by—a break from the outside world inside their bubble. To the lovers sipping coffee and staring into each other's eyes they are in a corner cafe in the heart of Paris. But two, the disgruntled office worker was passing by. He is trapped in some hellscape of a small town on a 105-degree day in the Texas heat.
The lovers and the tiresome worker exist in their bubbles, which are infinitely apart, yet only 15-20 feet separate them in reality. While each of us has our bubbles, or bubbles can meld and mush together. We do this with friends, family, partners, and sometimes strangers. To share a bubble is to have a moment of closeness of understanding.
However, bubbles are echo chambers reflecting every negative thought at you, trapping you. Fundamentally, your bubble is your heaven or hell, an escape or a prison.
