Chereads / The Sorcerer Epoch / Chapter 5 - First Mission

Chapter 5 - First Mission

The tower was divided into ten floors: the ground floor was the Great Hall where new missions were posted and one could gain access to some news from the outside world. It was also where one could buy resources and other magic items. It was also used for holding an assembly and for issuing important instructions to all rank 0 Sorcerers within the tower.

The first to the fourth floor belonged to the rank 0 Sorcerers, and the fifth and sixth floors housed some facilities such as the testing rooms, the library, and the alchemy lab. The seventh floor was for the elite rank 0 sorcerers as they had the closest chance of becoming a first-rank sorcerer and hence they were favoured by the Great Sorcerer Phelan. The eighth to the tenth floor belonged to the Great Sorcerer himself, who was known for his lightning affinity. He was rarely seen as he was holed up on the tenth floor conducting research and other experiments

Currently, on the second floor, three people were standing together. Tristan in his usually friendly manner spoke calmly to August. " I guess this is where we split up. Please accept this gesture, it is the least I can do," Tristan passed on a pouch that contained spirit stones.

If you insist, then I won't reject it. August was calm and placed the pouch inside his robe. Spirit stones are minerals that have been condensed from the natural energies of the world and have been infused with concentrated spiritual energy. It can be absorbed directly for cultivation purposes or can be used to buy magic items in the Sorcerer World.

After selling the valuables of the wind wolves, Tristan decided to give August 70% of the proceeds as he play a major contribution and even Ophelia had to admit that he deserved it despite her pride. Also,, Tristan and Ophelia's family ancestor was a First Rank Sorcerer so they did not lack too much in spirit stones.

"Let's get together some other time.

Okay!

When August entered his room he saw a simple bed with a table and chair in the corner of his room with a washroom on the other side of the room. Although he was on the path to becoming a sorcerer he was still a mortal and hence still had to do some things. After washing down and gulping down some roasted wolf meat, August called out to his companion since he reincarnated into this world.

"Rhea, status."

"Yes, Master August."

" My Spirit and wind affinity have increased by 0.3 points after killing those 3 wind wolves"

August had a delighted expression on his face. What one must know is that one of the reasons why many rank 0 Sorcerers fail to elevate to first rank sorcerer was that it was difficult for them to elevate their Spirit. Increasing a sorcerer's spirit required many potions and other resources hence many remain stuck on the same level!

All August had to do now was to go on missions and earn points to gain access to learn new sorceries and obtain resources that will enable him to elevate far quicker than his peers and pave the path for his elevation to First Rank Sorcerer.

" I'll have to check out some suitable missions for my fast growth tomorrow," August said before closing his eyes and falling asleep not long after.

************

The next morning, at the Great Hall, the ground floor

The hall was extremely spacious, with a large staircase that led to the upper floors and the many Apprentice Sorcerers in grey robes moving up and down either coming to check out the missions board for some new tasks issued by the tower or looking for members that could join their group to embark on missions and so on, while other veteran rank 0 Sorcerers were returning to the tower with their spoils of war and heading to the mission centre on the left side of the Great Hall to declare the completion of the missions assigned to them. Also at the mission centre was a young man with blond hair who was in a grey robe that covered every part of his body below his head. He was about 6.0 ft tall and had slick blond hair, golden eyes and a handsome face and even some female and even male sorcerers couldn't help but stare at him in admiration.

"Who is that guy over there? Is he a newbie? wow, he seems pretty handsome. Too bad he's only an Apprentice Sorcerer" the ladies started whispering among themselves. August however paid no attention to the voices around him as he stared intently at the mission board. Missions were from A to C grade- C grade being the lowest. According to veteran Sorcerers in the tower, A-grade missions are highly perilous and can only be completed by Elite rank 0 Sorcerers and B-grade was meant for B-grade so August did not turn his focus there. He did not think of himself as all-powerful because of the system as he knew the dangers of the Sorcerer World so he decided to take a look at the C-grade missions that were easy to complete and were not too far from the tower. He instructed Rhea to record all the available C-grade missions and took a look at them.

Missions

C-Grade

1. Bring back 4 dryad hearts: 40 points

2. Bring back the eyes of 5 Ogres: 60 points

3. Bring back five Rock Giant elemental cores: 50 points

4. Kill the 10 fire lizards that have been attacking farmers in Feronia town: 60

5. Help town guards in apprehending 3 rogue Apprentice Sorcerers: 90 points

After taking a good look at the missions, August was deep within his thoughts. "Rhea, what do you suggest?"

Master August I suggest you take the fifth one. We can obtain 90 points which will speed up your development. Also, your chances of fighting a rogue Apprentice Sorcerer and winning after my analysis of your battles and Apprentice Sorcerers such as Ophelia and Tristan is 90%

What about my chances against three of them?

50-60%. This is because the optimised Wind Sorcery: Wind Blade is almost on the level of an Intermediate Sorcery. however, if I am able to assist you in battle then Our chance of winning will be 70%.

Well, that is a risk I am willing to take," August said decisively as he walked towards the counter.

"I'll take the rogue Sorcerer mission!"

All the Apprentice Sorcerers in the hall were stunned. "Is this kid mad? Does he think he is that strong? Even we don't easily accept such a mission!"
