Maersult's eyes narrowed a flicker of irritation momentarily betraying his stoic facade. August's audacity and unwavering support for Diana seemed to challenge the very core of his authority. Yet, he remained composed, refusing to let his emotions dictate his response.
"Power is everything," Maersult replied, his voice dripping with disdain. "If Diana had power in the past she would have defeated me, and that would've been that. If Diana were to surpass me, then and only then would she earn my respect. That is the way I do my things. But until that day comes, your words are nothing more than empty bravado-and I couldn't care less about that."
"That day will not take too long," August replied plainly.
His eyes narrowed slightly when he heard that, "To speak on behalf of Diana so proudly, you must be the one known as Storm, and the leader of this three-man group of yours, right?"
"I am."
