Chapter 81 - Sentiment.

Marylynne dressed Gwen's injuries and applied ice to her body. She hadn't stopped crying since the ordeal. Gwen couldn't help but laugh at her mother's fragile nature.

" And what's exactly funny , young lady?"

" You. " Gwen pinched her cheek and hugged her. " I see why dad never let you find out about anything. You'd probably have cried every single day. "

Marylynne laughed in between her tears. "You're right. I'm weak and too emotional. "

" You're not weak. You are pure and beautiful. That's what drew dad to you. "

Bain walked into the kitchen and crossed his arms.

" What the hell are y' all doing without me?" He joined in the hug.

" Bain! You're smothering me!" Gwen mumbled between deep breaths.

" Alright. " He patted her head and smiled at Marylynne. " Stop crying Marylynne. "

Bain had taken care of the scene and had found a way to get the intruder out without drawing attention. Gwen didn't tell him about Louis yet. She had to be sure about things first. She didn't want her mother to worry so she didn't tell her either. She was out of her wits with this boy.

Bain came to where she was. She was leaning up against a window with her arms crossed.

" What's on your mind ?"

Gwen smiled. She was exhausted and her body ached. She shook her head and rubbed in between her brows.

" Well...I know you're stressed. So...I called someone over. "

Gwen's eyes sprung open. She was hoping he didn't mean Alec. Her face blushed and her heart started to pound.

Oh goodness! She scanned herself. She was a mess! She'd literally just been In a fight and was literally strangled. She was bruised and her hair was embarrassing.

Bain couldn't help but laugh. " You look...okay. I don't think he'll mind. "

" I can't see him like this!" She had decided to head for her room when the door bell rang.

" Too late. " Bain raised a brow.

Gwen seized the few seconds she has to herself and tried to gain composure. She faced the window and acted like she'd not heard a single thing.

His footsteps got closer and closer and his cologne played with her mind.

" Gwen?" His voice was tender and her heart fluttered in her ribcage.

Composure. She repeatedly told herself.

She slowly turned and gave him a cordial reply. " Yes?"

' That was a stupid answer!' She thought to herself.

He came closer and his eyes were all over her body. His eyes darkened when he saw her bruises. His hand slowly came to her neck and he gently touched her. It was almost like he was afraid to hurt her. Her skin burned where he touched and her eyes shut. She held his hand on her neck and took a deep breath.

Alec put his other hand at the back of her head and brought her lips to his. He kissed her lower lip , then her upper lip. She was quick to kiss him back and her soft lips pressed against his beautifully.

" I'm sorry I wasn't there. " He kissed her nose bridge and held her. " I'll make whoever did this sorry. "

Gwen's head was on his broad chest and she could almost taste the rage building up with in him.

" Alec...I'm fine. Nothing serious happened. " She assured him as she wrapped her arms around his waist. She didn't want to create a ruckus before finding out how deep Louis was involved.

" He touched you! He hurt you." He pressed her closer to his body.

" I hurt him more. " Gwen joked.

" I'm starting to think you like getting choked by random men."

Gwen lifted her face to his. " Why do you think so?"

" Isn't this the second time this has happened?" Alec pecked her cheek as he spoke.

Gwen recalled her previous scenario and laughed. He was right.

Her eyes shut and she breathed in his scent. He smelt like safety , home...paradise. She listened to his heartbeat. It was in sync with hers.

" Alec?"

" Mmhh?" He kissed her hair.

" Please marry me already. " She didn't believe she'd muttered the courage to say that. She clutched at his jacket and waited for him to say something...anything.

" Yes. Yes I will. "

Gwen's tears welled up with joy and she knew she'd found it. She'd found her forever.
