Chapter 11 - Red ranked

After slaying the goblin, I didn't take any drops that it could offer, like it's ears or teeth. They just weren't useful for me. I couldn't change them for money for at least a week after all. Going to the village would take at least four days and doing the test and getting my license would take like 3 days to a week.

I didn't want to take its meat either, it looked and smelled awful. It would also take too much space from my backpack. So, I continued running. I didn't need to save stamina because it was pretty strong because of my realm magic.

The people in the realm had advanced greatly. They now had a small village and even more people had moved in. They made weapons from animal teeth and bone and could hunt with those. They were attacked by wolfs at one point but because of traps they had made which they realized by some god's miracle.

They did not lose anyone. They got a lot of fur and since then it has been peaceful. Last time I checked a child had born. I did not have to show that miracle luckily. They were not cavemen after all. I think that they are refugees from an old village or something.

They even gave me some fox fur. It's kind of ugly but clean and comfortable. I even took it with me without mom noticing.

I ran at almost max speed for like 5 hours. So, when I finally stopped the sun was already shining. I decided to take a quick break and sit under a large tree. I took some jerky from my backpack and drank some water with them.

After resting I continued my journey. I ran for the rest of the day, only stopping four times, once to rest and three times to kill goblins and wolfs. They did not offer any challenge and were killed with one strike.

When sun started to go down I looked for a cave or a hole under a tree. I looked for only five minutes before I found one. I took some moss from under the tree, closed the entrance but made some airholes. Night was peaceful. Monsters didn't notice my sleeping spot and just walked on the path.

I woke up later than yesterday. I took my backpack that I had used as a pillow, drank some water, and ate. In only two minutes, I started running again. Everything went like yesterday. I ran, killed weak monsters, ate, and drank. Only exception being, that I had to go detour because I had to fill my water.

It wasn't a big detour and only cost me an hour to get back on the path.

Today I went to sleep in a cave. It was bigger than the hole but also a lot more dangerous, after all it was a lot harder to hide. But that wasn't a problem for me. I just used some thunder magic and got a huge rock from the mountain.

I pushed it near the cave went inside and pulled it to close the entrance it was small enough to let air change. After that I laid my backpack down and went to sleep. I was a hard bed but can't do anything about it now.

I woke up again around the same time as yesterday. Today I was already running in one and a half minutes. If I hurried, I could arrive in the village or town at the noon.

(*(

I had already been running for 5 hours but no monster had tried to attack me. The ones I had fought before were only yellow and green rank monsters; they weren't smart enough to sense mt strength and only saw me as prey but now even them were not attacking me.

Something was going on. I closed my eyes and tried to listen everything around me. Realm magic had not only boosted my magic and strength but even senses. I now saw and heard better than an average person but not as well as a scout who were known for their unhuman senses.

I heard the wind, water flowing but not any monsters or animals. I was going to stop but I suddenly sensed something, someone or something attacking. I quickly leaped forwards, took my sword, and looked what it was.

It was a Pakshin lizard. Meaning winged lizard, it wasn't a wyvern or a dragon but one lower than them. They had weak wings; they were almost only decoration but strong tail and head. But the most important is its rank, after all. It was red.

Like I read before adventurers' ranks go from Z to F, Z being the strongest and F the weakest. F ranked usually are F rank for only a week and then advance to E rank by doing enough quests. I would say that I am around an B ranked adventurer with my magical abilities.

Monsters also have ranks. But not with letters or numbers but colors. They are green, yellow, orange, red, magenta, and violet.

Green ranked are normal animals and could be a pet or a farm animal for normal people.

Yellow ranked monsters are normally just minions of a bigger monster. They can be dangerous but even with little fighting skills you can beat one alone.

Orange ranked monsters are normally like Yellow ranked but stronger. Like goblin mage or something.

Red ranks are dangerous even for normal adventurers. They are in command of lower-level monsters and you normally need at least an C to B rank party to beat them.

Magenta is even more dangerous. They are rare but need a peak B or lower A level party to beat them.

Violet is the rarest one. Their amount can be counted with two hands and when they appear, a catastrophe emerges. There's none known alive right now.

So, this Lizard is highest ranked monster that doesn't appear rarely. How lucky I am. I did say that with magic abilities I am around B rank. But magic isn't my only weapon. If I add my sword to it, I can give hard time to A ranked swordsmen. But not mages. Normally A ranked mages have at least three rings. I can't beat them with magic.

This was an effective way to measure my strength. I took my first part's stance and gathered mana. For this I would need some magic. Lightning started to come from my arms and covered my sword.

We stared for some time. I didn't want to wait for too long even with faster gathering speed I would still lose mana every second to my lightning. It wasn't much but I still lost it.

I put some mana to my feet and took and started my second technique. I leaped towards the monster and tried to slash its feet. It jumped up and tried to whip me with its tail. I dodged but it was close.

We put some distance again and stared. This would be a long fight.
