I spent most of my morning at my mother’s house. I had promised her that I would help her with some yard work that desperately needed to be attended to, and I was not a son who ever broke a promise to his mother.
Mostly it was mowing the lawn and weed eating–nothing too strenuous. The work certainly didn’t take enough out of me so I couldn’t go back to the resort and do my daily routine there, though today would only be half a day. My mom was appreciative of my help.
I didn’t tell her about Lauren or the baby that was on the way. I wanted Lauren to be there with me when I told her that she was going to be a grandmother. But I wanted to tell her. I was upset that I couldn’t, because I was dying inside to give her the news, dying inside to see her reaction. I knew it would send her to cloud nine.
