*Lauren*
The resort was a flurry of activity, alive with the last-minute preparations for the send-off party. As I darted through the staff, I could feel the weight of expectation pressing down on me like the summer heat. The guests had filled every corner of the place with laughter and excess, commandeering the entire resort as their personal playground. But now, it was time for their grand finale, and everything needed to be perfect.
"Lauren, the centerpieces for the tables in the dining hall!" one of the servers called out, nearly tripping over a stray extension cord.
"Already on it!" I shouted back, not missing a beat as I checked off another item on my clipboard. My hand was steady, but inside, I felt nauseous. I couldn't afford to lose focus, not now, when we were so close to pulling off the biggest event of the season.
"Are the string lights up by the pool?" I asked another team member, squinting at my list to make sure we hadn't overlooked anything.
