*Lauren*
Two solid pink lines.
Positive.
I was pregnant.
All I could do for a minute was stare at the test, at those pink lines, feeling like a criminal defendant in court, listening to his jury’s verdict on his fate. I knew these home pregnancy tests weren’t always 100% accurate, but they were close. I knew in my gut that if I went to a doctor and they performed their test it would show me the same result.
My heart pounded away, knowing that my life had suddenly changed forever and that I would have to deal with it, somehow.
I rose off the bathtub’s edge and walked into the bedroom to my phone on the night table beside my bed. I called the first person, the only person I wanted to talk with right now.
“Hey, Lauren,” Shelby answered on the other end of the phone. “What’s up?”
