I was ready for dinner a lot earlier than I expected, and I wasn’t looking forward to it. Talking to Michael left me with a bittersweet feeling. I was happy we’d gotten to catch up a bit, but I also remembered how much I already missed him.
The hotel had a beautiful, lush garden in the center, where all sorts of creatures roamed. I’d seen them when I came in, but now, in the night, they were out of sight, lost among the carefully placed lights and gorgeous plants. While I made my way around to the dining room the company had reserved for us, I could see their eyes shining in the dark.
Our event took up an entire area of the dining room, which was more like a long pier than a room. The windows were all open, and the curtains were billowing with the ocean’s breeze. With the soft lighting, it would be perfect for a romantic dinner.
A business meeting, not so much.
