Chapter 5 - Unexpected

Lucas was excited about his first battle!

He recasted his Healing Array and examined the Red Wolf. It was the first time he ever killed something. He was filled with a mix of discuses, nausea and joy.

The beast was in near perfect condition. Glancing back at his ring he finally knew what it was. It was a storage ring. Able to hold objects in its other dimensional pocket. Thankfully his ring was a rare version able to house 57 square feet of objects, about the size of a football field.

The Red Wolf vanish from where it was and into the rings pocket dimension.

"This thing is going to come in super handy!"

Looking over his stats his health increased by 20 points and his mana increased by another 50 points. He was glad to have gotten that [Bursting Mana] skill or he would only gained 20 mana per level.

'Now my next move should be to find a near by town and learn what I can about the world and universe.'

Climbing one of the trees Lucas looked to find a village. He only saw more trees and wilderness.

He jumped down from the tree and decided to test the best of his abilities. He knew since his Arrays and Barriers were at the Novice level he couldn't do much.

Using each hand he started to cast 2 spells. One was a Compass Array and the other was a Clock Array.

His Compass Array told him he was pointing West and his Clock Array said it was 10 in the morning.

"Hey that works! Now let's try something else out."

He canceled those two spell and with both hands he would cast a new one. One that acted like a compass, but it would point to the largest group of life nearest to him. He assumed it would lead to a village and hoped for the best.

A few miles away in the direction Lucas was heading. A group of bandits started to unload their ill gotten gains into their cave base. Each one wore leather armor, had a green bandanna's with a hand holding a dagger etched into it. Every bandit either carried a dagger or short sword.

Hidden behind the lush forest was a cave entrance with a large wooden gate with a small wooden tower. Both of the structures looked like patchwork jobs. Even the two bandits standing guard in the tower seemed to be uneasy standing in the rickety tower.

"All right lads! Get this sh*t into the camp and tonight we celebrate!" The tallest and most muscular bandit called out.

The other cheered as they moved the goods.

"Gots some fun for you lads tonight!" The bandit leader said while tapping on a very large chest. Muffled voices cried out as the group of bandits laughed. They were all extremely excited to get a taste of tonight's show.

Of the 9 bandits, 6 were moving the boxes of stolen goods into the cave, two manned the watch tower and the captain took the large hovering chest into this private collection of treasure.

Inside the camp was extremely bare bones. The cave was crudely made. The main room had their camp fire, makeshift benches and a bar with large kegs filled with alcohol. From there were 3 branching hallways leading to rooms. One on the right lead to the main sleeping area with cots and storage for the bands. The hallway on the left lead downwards into the ground and reeked of p*ss and sh*t.

The hallway opposite the entrance lead to a mechanical door. This was the captains room. He was thankful he stole some tech from some Nobel he killed and took their sliding door. With it being able to slide it allowed the floating chest to enter his room.

The door slammed shut behind him as he kicked the floating chest into the corner of the room.

His room was filled with other chests. Be them mechanical and floating like the one he kicked or more traditional and ornate. He even had fur from bears mounted on the walls. If anyone asks about the bears the Bandit Leader says he killed them, but the truth is he stole them from a Hunter while they were sleeping.

"Now let's get a better looks at yous" the bandit leader said with malice in his voice.

He quickly flipped open the lid to the floating chest revealing the prisoners inside. 4 people were crammed into this chest. Two young women in a blue dress and another in a blue and white dress. Next to them were two men beaten black and blue. One wore a butlers uniform while the other had on a nice suit. Unfortunately that nice suit was slashed and torn to shreds barely covering his body. Both men were unconscious while the two woman were wide awake.

Their faces were red around the eyes and their throats were burning. When they saw the leader they both started crying even more and screaming all they could. They barely made a sound because of the special cloth used to cover their mouth.

The bandit leader just laughed at their predicament. He has been the one to kill the knight that was protecting them. He was thankful for the butler to help him out. Too bad the bandit leader leaves no loose ends.

He grabbed one of the girls and pulled her close to him. She struggled with all her might but the bandit leader was mush stronger. His tan skin showed he is used to being in the sun and working long and hard hours. He slowly licked her face. From neck to ear.

"Oh I can't wait for tonight. You'll be the first I taste."

The girl screamed all she should and struggled with all her might. The Bandit leader laughed and laughed at her. The poor woman ended up passing out. The leader laughed even more and dropped her into the chest before closing it again.

Lucas traveled the woods for a few hours making his way where his life compass pointed. He would have been faster if he didn't actively avoid another Red Wolf and it's pact. He created another Array that removed his scent as he circled around the wolf pack giving it a wide birth.

After he carefully avoided the wolf pack he and casted his Life Compass spell. While walking he would open his skill list and look through for skills he can use. He earned 5k points from leveling up and killing that Red Wolf, but thanks to his [Quick Learner] skill those skill points doubled to a nice 10k.

Not many skills were sticking out to him. The ones that were, were to expensive for him. He figured he'd try again later once he has an abundant pool of skill points.

As he got closer to his destination he could hear men talking. He slowed his approach and hid in some bushes. Peaking out he saw half a dozen men in leather armor, weapons and green bandanna's on their arm.

Lucas scoffed at them.

'Typical bandits. Why do they always try to show off their gang affiliation? If they were bandits shouldn't they know they need to hide. Oh well. This will be fun' Lucas thought with a devilish smile on his face.
